If we arn't in for him then quite frankly it says alot about our current situation.

The Turk is one brilliant player....

Pity we can't afford him.

Can anyone who has watched him regularly for club level tell me if he can play in a two man midfield?

First time I've really seen him play and he was brilliant. Would fit our formation perfectly and with City after Silva, maybe we have a window of opportunity to sign him?? (I doubt it though)

Did he extend his contract? If not, there's only one year left. His fee should be much lower then anticipated. Though City would still offer a ridiculous sum.

buy the fecker

lets have 5 years of him, win 3 titles and 1 EC and sell him to Barca for 80 mill quid.

Could never see this happening but he is staggering. Even if he dreams of Barca, they already happen to have a few players in his role and one of their names is Messi

he really is brilliant

can we please have him .. please fergie

Class.

I'll get physically sick if he moves to either citeh or the chavs.

After today - I'd take Bastian over him. Schweiny was awesome and a lot more of what we need in the middle of the park that Ozil.

Still either one of the two - they not only have played well in the WC but, for their clubs as well.

Today was like an awesome buffet for him. I hope we at least bid for him until it gets beyond our resources (and it will with City, Chelsea and Real)

I said he'd be one to watch this world cup, but he's surpassing my expectations.

Won't come to United.

One of the richer clubs will get him.

Pity.

No, but why would he?

He's a winger or plays in the hole. It would completely kill the part of his game that makes him so dangerous, if you stuck him in a 2 man midfield. He'd need to defend and take up defensive positions and isnt free to roam into the hard to pick up positions that have killed each team Germany has played against in the world cup. It would be like playing Rooney right midfield.

He looks so good, I would love to see him at United. At 21 aswell a large fee could be justified with him still having potential to improve, and certainly resale value after that. But I know it wont happen, I can see City just throwing money in his direction, even moreso if we start sniffing around him.

I imagine every top clubs' fans are having the exact same discussion right now

Why don't United get this sort of hype when winning titles and European Cups?

We sort of did when Ronaldo was in the team winning them. Players like Anderson, Nani and the twins said they come to United to play in the same team as Ronaldo, the best player in the world.

Then we sell that player to a Spanish club. And all the kids growing up dreaming of being the next Ronaldo see their idol playing for Madrid as well as United, and instead of dreaming of playing for United they end up dreaming of playing for Madrid.

This is why it would have been important to keep the best player in the world at the club. For the next few generations of footballer to want to emulate him and come and play for us, not for Madrid and the rest.

But we sold him and chances are if we have another player playing the best football in the world in the next few years, we'd probably end up selling him to a Spanish team too.

Yes, after Anderson, time to screw another talented attacker by putting him in a two-man midfield...

He usually plays as the most attacking minded and furthest man in a diamond formation for Bremen, without having much defensive work to do. I think he's most useful in the system Loew plays right now - 4-2-3-1 just off a striker.

I said he could be one of this generation's best players, but if he keeps progressing so fast he could surpass my expectations. It was 2 days under 1 year ago that he was destroying the England under 21s in their european championships, now its the main team at the world cup. Whats he going to be doing in a year's time?

I think Ozil, Khedeira, Boateng and Nueur were all in that German team. And from that England team we've promoted just James Milner. Perhaps thats the way forward, push our young players on to the main national team as quick as possible as they have done.

Johnson, Wilshire, etc. There's talent there but with the same old Gerrard, Lampard crap hogging the limelight they arent given the chances.
