I have to agree he'd probably fit in perfectly in the one area we need strengthening and new blood the most. Just a shame nothing points towards us actually signing him. One can dream..

I'd love to see us sign this lad. He's impressed me in every game so far.

He's exactly what we need, and he plays with a maturity you rarely see from midfielders below the age of 25.

1) Hargreaves? You're optimistic.
2) Rafael.
3) We won't sign Ozil.

Nothing wrong with a bit of pre-season optimism cw

Yes but when it ultimately, and inevitably (sp?), ends in disappointment it leads to mass suicide and doom mongering. If i set my expectation low (that we won't sign any further players) then i can only be pleasently surprised if we do :)

A lot on here have stated that they rarely get involved in transfer muppetry but with Ozil they feel considerably different. I have to agree.

Weder Bremen would hope Germany progress quite far. After England they'd potentially have to face the argies. So not too long before they will be accepting bids. Since he hasn't renewed already it's likely they had resigned in losing him hence wanting to take advantage of the world cup price hike.

Apparently the Ronny cash is available, prove it Gill

Dont want to go on about this but anyone we buy the money has to be borrowed from our new credit facility, and I think SAF is reluctant to do this

I sort have a given that we will sign Value only this summer. But nothing stops me from hoping we sign a player like Ozil, not unless he comes out and says he wants to go somewhere else. As for the people on this forum well...most are a bunch of idiots.

Will you stop pedalling this please, you have no basis for such a claim whatsoever….it just isnt true and it wont become true no matter how many times you keep telling yourself and everyone within sight….

We have a brand new credit facility, fact. Sorry but what do want me to do? lie about it. Now wrong thread if it is going to turn in another money arguement there are already too many going

Hamsik I'm not too sure about as I dont watch a lot of serie A, but does he often create goals as well as score them?

Yes, he does. Ignore Hamsik at the world cup, his responsibilities means he ends up being more defensive.

We have a credit facility as well as our regular transfer pot.

Apart from his great shot I thought he was rather shit.He really reminded of Berbatov with his laziness and he was getting physically bullied once again.

he is talented and young, i dont know where he'll be in a few years...he might become one of the best or shit...one thing im sure of is that Fergie (and Wenger tbf) would turn him into a star...oh and like most young players he's inconsistent, so people need to be a bit more patient with him. i hope we sign him!!

I remember hearing the commentator on itv saying his in the last year of his contract, possibly get him on the cheap?

I had to run to class shortly after his goal so I havent been able to do this

OH MY GOD. Sublime.

SAF - sign him today!

Sigh. The likes of Real, City, Chelsea, et al will outbid United anyhow. :( And he'll probably choose Bayern to start then take the big money offer in 3-5 years (ala Ballack).

Young Player of the Tournament so far?

Without a shadow of doubt. He's the brightest young midfield star who's arrived in quite a while.

Whoever signs him at the end of the Summer will be buying a genuine star in the making, and I think he'll be worth EVERY penny of the 35 - 40m transfer he'll no doubt draw.

Immensely classy young midfielder.

Well 5 is a lot less than 12, which was sort of my point about that. Ozil creates more. And when judging whether one attacking midfield player is better than another you look at both obviously, goals and goals created. Overall Ozil would surely come out on top. Scores less but creates more, more versatile and done it on a bigger stage.

Had an off game, but still made the difference and won the match with a wonderful shot. Rooney hasnt even managed that so far.

Young Player of the Tournament so far?

Definitely not.

Player of the tournament so far.

Closely followed by Messi

I just wanted to temper all this enthusiastic wanking he's received. There is no doubt he's a good player with a great potential but it's as if he was playing reallyyyy well last night. He scored a very good goal and that's it, the rest of his performance was shit.

I agree. Seemed off his game and just supplied accurate short passes. Cant remember him taking a player on or looking to get players in behind the defence. But it could just be that he was missing Klose as a proper target to play off of. However as said, he won the match with his goal. The amount of times Ronaldo did that when he was the best player in the world - not a good performance, but the game winning goal. Its still a very good contribution overall.

Thought he played some nice reverse balls, his passing is sweet and the runs he made in behind the defence was great, he did look lazy/tired. I just hope he's not Berbarish in that regard or I'll zip right up.

Undoubtedly

Well unless Messi is eligible

Messi is in a class of his own, no one can touch him...what a fecking player!!! ozil has had a very good world cup...he seems to have coped with having so much responsibilty with a big team, at such a young age, very impressed with him.

Jamie Redknapp: "His eyes literally bulged when he saw the ball had struck the back of the net, of course he was the first to see this as his eyes were two foot closer to the goal than any other player."
