Thinks you can get an STD from flirting.
He’s not 11th best but he’s not better than Messi or Neymar. Not at this stage in his career.

Yeah that was the case in the past when players’ stats weren’t so easily accessible on the internet with smart phones or via pages on Twitter like opta, squawka etc. Even a metric such as the “assist” wasn’t really a glorified thing 15 years ago. When Henry was setting the premier league record back then for most assists in a league season, I doubt many people were even aware of it. Most things in the game was assessed empirically - i.e. by watching the players play. We’re in a new era now where I believe the focus for future generations will be a combination of both records/numbers and their qualitative play. The rise of Messi & Ronaldo with their extraordinary numbers has revolutionised how the game is viewed.
Exactly and I said this as someone who's always had a personal preference for the footballer that Messi is. Ronaldo is also joining a team that hasn't won the league in a long time so the challenge is much harder than what Messi is trying to accomplish at PSGEven more reason Ronaldo is going to be respected more in the final stages of his career. More difficult league and relative pay cut at the same time.
I never said he was behind Mbappe, that’s a different debate. Obviously Mbappe has youth on his side. But he’s definitely behind Messi and Neymar as an all round footballer at this stage in his career.
Yep. This is a discussion me and my friends have regularly over a beer or three. I would never argue that Ronaldo is the better footballer of the two but I do always say that I’d rather have Ronaldo in my team. One purpose for him. Goals. Numbers. Win. He’s the perfect athlete and I can’t help but respect him. That’s why for my he is the GOAT.Exactly and I said this as someone who's always had a personal preference for the footballer that Messi is. Okay, I misunderstood the Mbappe part. The fact you think its "debatable" if Mbappe or Ronaldo is better (if that's what you meant) itself is a bit ridiculous to me.
Also, you are certainly in a minority of world football fans if you think Neymar is better than Ronaldo. That's hardly a debate and shows again the biases of certain Messi fans who underrate or don't understand how good Ronaldo is.

Messi has played 149 CL games in 17 seasons, which comes out to 8.76 games per season. CR has played 179 CL games in 19 seasons, which comes out to 9.42 games per season. So it's not just an issue of age.Or maybe because he’s younger

Sure take Neymar ahead of Ronaldo in this squad this season! Let's see what he's got.Judging by this thread he's not in the minority. There are many who have Neymar ahead of Ronaldo and even a few who have him as the best. Neymar is phenomenal.
No white text?! Regardless of whether you think Neymar or Ronaldo is a better player, Ronnie's 'coming home' narrative beats anyone else in the world joining, for me.Sure take Neymar ahead of Ronaldo in this squad this season! Let's see what he's got.

Ahhhh, my bad. Went right over my head!I think he was being ironic. Or sarcastic. Or something of that nature
Why is it not debatable as to whether Mbappe or Ronaldo is better right now? We’re not talking lifetime achievement awards here. Even if you say it’s Ronaldo, it’s still a debate.
I do think Neymar right now is a better all round player than Ronaldo. I don’t think it’s that controversial an opinion if you watched Neymar at the Copa America for example.

Like I said there's no point to even debate if you're that far off in your definitions of players. Debating Mbappe vs Ronaldo would be if I debated Haaland vs Messi and at least even as a Ronaldo fan I'm not dumb enough to do that.
The Messi fans in this thread keep exposing themselves which such weird claims. So let me summarize what we've seen so far
- Messi's header was better than Ronaldo's bicycle kick in terms of goal execution (@Daysleeper )
- Anyone who genuinely thinks Ronaldo has scored more spectacular goals than mess is intellectually dishonest (@Zehner )
- Any goal from outside the box is a "great" goal -- so technically 2 curling Messi efforts from the edge of the box vs a Ronaldo 40 yard screamers still means Mesis has scored great goals but if you disagree you are intellectually dishonest (@Zehner )
- Neymar is better than Ronaldo. Mbappe and Ronaldo is debatable @NasirTimothy
- PSG is more prestigious than Manchester United and the French league is hardly a joke. Oh, also I'm bitted because Messi joined the mickey mou-- I mean league 1
( @Daysleeper and @Ladron de redcafe )
Don’t insinuate that I’m dumb. Explain, using logic, why it is not debatable as to who is better between Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe right now.
Same thread has Lewondowski above Messi, Messi in fourth, Kane ahead of Ronaldo and so on. Any serious football fan knows that opinion is ridiculous. Neymar is phenomenal but Ronaldo is very clearly a superior player.
Once again, this is just shows the Messi fan bias of overrating value of dribbling and playmaking more than the normal fan. Which you can go do but it certainly clouds your judgement.
(heck someone has van dijk ahead of Ronaldo on that thread)
See this here is your problem. You’ve framed actual skill and creativity in football as being something that ‘Messi fans’ overrate as opposed to being something that all football fans from time immemorial have appreciated, from Sindelaar to Zizinho to DIStefano to Cruyff to Best to Maradona etc. It’s hilarious, frankly.
I answered you, it's the same thing as arguing who is better between Haaland and Messi right now.

It’s not, and here’s why:
Messi is a playmaker and a goalscorer, Ronaldo is not at this present time and neither is Haaland.
Messi is still Ballon D’Or contender and Haaland is not at this present time. Neither are Ronaldo or Mbappe (in a serious sense)
Messi is 34, Ronaldo is almost 37 and does not get involved in build up play as much as Messi or as much as he used to.
Nail on head. It makes the game more entertaining to watch amongst other things.

If you're not willing to compare Haaland and Messi why compare Ronaldo and Messi when both play different positions?
shamans you owe me an apology. Never said Ligue 1 was better than united or epl. You’re just making stuff up now. Just that French league wasn’t much different for a farmers league than serie A when Ronaldo joined and ligue 1 has fared better in CL in recent years than serie A. None of that is disputable.
First of that's simply not true and secondly, weren't you the one laughing about French league teams knocking out so called superior English teams? You also thought I was just bitter PSG didn't go for Ronaldo. What does all of this mean? It's certainly not accepting Messi has joined the mickey mouse league.
That's a very suspect link.

I'm not saying its an invalid skill. But playmaking and getting past your man is one aspect of football and not the mark of how superior one player is over another.
Wasn't CR7 set on going to City and even trying PSG before that collapsed and his United move materialized or was that all media BS?Because before, they were in the same league slugging it out with each other at the two biggest clubs. It was a level playing field. Now, one has chosen an easier road than the other.
Yes, it's actual skill as opposed to what Ronaldo is doing is freestylin' by the side of the park?
The Messi lot has avoided this question but why are the likes of Adel Taraabt or Ricardo Queresma not better footballers than Micheal Carrick? Taraabt is a better dribbler than both.
It’s a poor analogy, Carrick was a very skilled though conventional player and Taraabt has not been a consistent performer.
Messi is odds on because of the copa win?https://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/ballon-dor/player-of-the-year
The odds of 2021 ballon d'or
Messi 1/2
Lewandowski 8/1
Ronaldo 25/1
Messi is odds-on to win his 7th ballon d'or at age 34, in a span of 12 years
2009-2021
Ronaldo won 5 times in a span of 9 years 2008-2017. He was 32 when he won it the last time.
Both have extraordinary longevity.
