That's a ridiculous and simplistic way to look at it.

Essentially all you're saying is that a player is less effective with inferior teammates.
Messi's teammates are a huge part of his success. That doesn't downplay his individual brilliance but when you're comparing with Ronaldo then of course it matters.

Sure.

*Last week Messi scores 2 goals poll opened

*This week Messi chokes poll closed

* the excuse made in terms of anything Ronaldo has accomplished is worth nothing the moment Messi does something great.

* lastly if Messi won a 3 peat of CL and had a copa America to his name while Ronaldo choked two 3 goal leads and lost 4 finals in a row this thread would be closed by now. And you and everyone here knows that.

There’s an old saying in football ‘you’re only as good as your last game’.

A mod pulls a prank on the most meaningless poll ever conceived and people start acting like all their human rights have been stripped away from them. Can't you see that they did it just to get a reaction from you guys?
Hilarious... on a terrible day for United, the first thought in his mind was to please the bottler's fans. :wenger:

It's a daft poll on the internet man, it isn't that serious.

But, seeing as how you're so interested in the poll, it was rigged from the start. Messi was away ahead to begin with then because of all the arguing the mods just put them tied and closed it so people would shut up. Unless you genuinely believe that it was just a coincidence that they had the exact same amount of votes...
I am the one who said and explained that they put it tied on purpose and I understand why. Also the numbers didn’t mean shet before or now because there are a lot more Messi fans in here then Ronaldo but that does not mean he is better.

I can give 2 fecks what the poll says but the bias is what was funny to me.

Wait, this thread’s poll was so quick to be opened last Wednesday after his performance, why pull a RAWK & close it so quickly after he was shit?

Embarrassing.

Mods trying to act all troll and then expect users to be really well behaved and comply with rules. Some people cant have any power, even in a web forum...

Messi's teammates are a huge part of his success. That doesn't downplay his individual brilliance but when you're comparing with Ronaldo then of course it matters.

And Ronaldo's teammates aren't a huge part of his success?

This is nonsensical.

Ronaldo relies more on his teammates for goal-scoring than Messi does for his.

And Messi creates far more for the team than Ronaldo does for his.

Hilarious... on a terrible day for United, the first thought in his mind was to please the bottler's fans. :wenger:

Human nature being what it is, I'm sure the first thought in his mind was actually to antagonize Ronaldo fans.

When Barca/Argentina struggle, Messi walks around the pitch with his head down with a look of giving up and hopelessness.

When Utd/Madrid/Juvé/Portugal struggle, Ronaldo holds his head up while inspiring his teammates and picks the team up.

...I hope people are honest enough to be able to accept that because it’s the facts and has been clear as day the past number of years especially with Messi bottling and Cristiano creating history (CL 3peat + Euro Champ).

I just find it hilarious last week Messi scores 2 goals and everyone here is having an orgy ....”poll reopened to truly decide who the best is”

*one week later Messi CHOKES AGAIN for more times then I can count on my hands

“Poll closed to avoid knee jerk reaction”

Whichever mod is in charge of it is clearly as sensitive as Messi :nervous: :p ;)

I've decided not to read this post because I dont want my feelings challenged. Apologies for wasting your time. Good luck in future polls.
Has nothing to do with feelings challenged. I am happy to debate and thing with anyone at anytime. This is a football forum after all. I know what answer you were getting at and my response was you don’t need definitive evidence to know something when it’s right in front of you.

Oh cry me a river. As if Messi did not have the greatest team of all time for half of his career. Ask any true sports analyst and they will tell you how mental toughness is just as important as talent. The best player debate was put to bed in 2016.

Both have had great teams, nobody says otherwise.

But you cant deny that CR7 played many semis and finals way worse than Messi did tonight, but still ended up winning thanks to his teammates. And thats a fact.

Last semis and final alone he barely touched the ball, but his team pulled trough. All the times Ramos saved Madrid, the times Bale and Benzema saved Madrid, etc. Thats a fact that you cant deny, literally CR7 having a horrible game and his teammates winning it for him. Thats his clutchness you talk so much about, its simply his teammates playing great when it matters while Messi having to do absolutely everything.

Karius having the worse game of his life against Real Madrid doesnt make CR7 a better player than Messi. Coutinho, Suarez and co. missing 5+ clear chances set by Messi dont make him worse than CR7.

Messi's teammates are a huge part of his success. That doesn't downplay his individual brilliance but when you're comparing with Ronaldo then of course it matters.

But if you're going to downplay his success because of the quality of his teammates then you must be fair and acknowledge that when they lose with inferior teammates that isn't all his fault either. It works both ways.

For what it's worth, I think the Xavi & Iniesta argument is just so inane. They're arguably the two best midfielders of all time. Of course their team are going to be worse off without them there.

Another big game and Messi walks like he is in a park. Embarrassing. He's one of the biggest problems at that club.

It's so very obviously that. Some of the stars of this thread are just too invested to realize how much of a joke it is to the overwhelming majority.

It's sort of a WUM playground where the normal laws of the internet dont apply.

But that's the very nature of this discussion, people will have picked sides. It's like that in every sports discussion ever.. Nadal Federer, Ali Frazier, Pool United etc etc. It's easy to laugh and wum in a thread where you're the 3rd party..

No no ..now it was a “troll” just a good ol joke don’t you see just to not get aired out. Went full RAWK just as you said.

Can you hear the Messi fanbois, can you feck...

Edit: Hilarious when this thread is opened/closed for voting. Assuming this was intentionally done to trigger people. Well done.

I watched the Juve v Ajax game and seen nothing of what you're suggesting. In fact, all I can recall him doing was a snide foul to get booked at the end. Same last year when Madrid nearly did what Barca have just done and bottled a 3-0 lead to Juve he was anonymous until a stoppage time penalty.

Not that you're necessarily wrong when you say that generally is a characteristic of Ronaldo's. He usually does all he can to find a way but lets not act like it's all the time or that Messi retreats into a shell when the going gets tough.

Why the feck do Barca and Juve even bother with those names. Should just rename themselves Messi and Ronaldo. We dont care about the 10 irrelevant feckers who happen to wonder around the pitch with them.

You confuse "fans" with people giving their honest opinion.

It's a Man United forum and Ronaldo is a Man United legend. He has more "fans" on here than Messi does.

That's the thing though, you could also switch sides if your opinion changes, instead of engaging in mental gymnastics just to never concede anything. That's what makes it so silly.

And indeed the Federer Nadal stuff is similar. Im more of a Nintendo vs Sega person myself though.

I absolutely disagree. Many fans in here don’t like him because he wanted to feck off to Madrid. But we can agree to disagree if you would like.

Which Admin/Mod is trolling with the poll?

Reopen the poll after Messi had a worldie and then close it again after he fails to inspire his team during one of the worst know out defeats of all time in case there’s a knee jerk reaction in the polling data.

I do hope it’s done purely as a joke because it’s a little sad otherwise.

Nintendo is better.;)

It's pretty funny if it is.

When do we start the Origi vs Messi poll?

You do see how pathetic that is, don't you?

Well, it's all relative. Thinking about it, it's probably much more pathetic that a football game between two teams I don't support has actually managed to put me in a real life bad mood. We're all children really.

He has more goals then anyone ever in the semis and quarter finals alone? In the finals did he get help from Ramos absolutely. From a bale worldie? Sure but they would have never ever ever got there without him. A competition is more then just 1 game at the end. Getting there is often harder then winning the final and I can easily argue Ronaldo has saved every single players ass you just mentioned then they did for him.

Well, the very likely 6 times la is more than enough to ruin the summer (and I hate summer anyway).

This is going to be worse than 2005. :(

There's no way that's true.

I doubt anyone on here had a problem with him even moving.

If they dislike him, it's for other reasons.
