But being more enjoyable is not the same as being better.
Messi's ability to dribble can get space to get a goal, just as Ronaldo's ability of high jump can also get a goal without barely space.
They're both monsters and so balanced the differences between them is aestethical and depend mostly on circunstances they can't control (like their team and manager).

No, it's not where the discussion is. Very few people have been making arguments that they like Messi more because he is more fun to watch, and the majority of the people in here are arguing that Messi is better because he does more (and more difficult) things on the pitch.
I couldn't disagree more on your argument that the differences between Messi and Ronaldo are aestethical and depend on things they can't control. Just watch 3-4 games and you will see that the difference between them is absolutely massive in how they play the game.

If there is one thing to hold against Messi, it is that Ronaldo has a more extensive career in that he has been the PL's and the Ballon D'or player of the year whilst playing for United, and he's done the same at Madrid. In addition, his CL stats are off the charts. Messi has been good in the CL, but not Ronaldo good, which one may argue further proves that Messi is best suited to the Spanish league and that Barca team. He isn't carrying this Barcelona team to the CL final, and he isn't carrying Argentina.
