He looks like he belongs. I can't wait to see him playing for us.
Mata is better goalscoring free kick taker than ronaldo? highly doubtful, mata is good, ronaldo was insanely effective
Doesn't mean anything, last summer Shaw and others wore different training numbers to their real numbersYeah... doesn't make sense though when 9, 14, 15 and 19 are all available.
Ronaldo was always blasting it against the wall, but when it did go in it was spectacular.Mata is better goalscoring free kick taker than ronaldo? highly doubtful, mata is good, ronaldo was insanely effective
So? Ronaldo takes more feee kicks because he dares too take the more difficult ones and from further distance. Mata only takes the limited distance FK's as this is the only one he can score. Doesnt make you a better FK taker.Ronaldo's conversion rate is pretty poor overall though. Mata has a very good conversion rate.
Shaw wore #28 just until Evra actually left didn't he?Doesn't mean anything, last summer Shaw and others wore different training numbers to their real numbers

Nope, wore it until the season actually started. Evra left before pre season startedShaw wore #28 just until Evra actually left didn't he?
They were talking about Glen Johnson because some clown rang in saying we should sign himWho are they talking about? The former liverpool player.
Partnership down the left flank for the next 7-8 years sorted all being well.
Having a terrible technique = an effective way to take free kicks?Ronaldo's technique and style was terrible, was just saying it was a very effective way of doing it, especially from long distances, mata could not score goals from the distance ronaldo dares
We signed Shaw late June/early July, Evra left around late July?Nope, wore it until the season actually started. Evra left before pre season started

That's true though, but not many players can take free kicks like Ronaldo did from that distance.
Shaw was end of June, and apparently Evra signed officially for Juve on July 21st but he didn't go on the tour with the rest of the team.. Think he was still on his break after the world cup. Either way, Shaw played all the pre season games with 28 I think, and Evra was gone by then. Wouldn't read too much into his training number. We signed Shaw late June/early July, Evra left around late July?
I know during the tour Evra had already left and Shaw was here but I'm sure if number 3 was available as soon as Shaw was signed he'd have been assigned it straight away.

That's the current Ronaldo, Im talking about the Ronaldo for us. Who in absolute numbers also scored more for us. If you'd let this Mata and Ronaldo at United take the same FK's, Ronnie would have scored more.Quality over quantity surely? I wouldn't consider "daring" to blast an unrealistic shot at goal as a positive quality overall. Mata strikes the ones he knows he has a good chance of scoring, otherwise we tend to play the ball into the box from the FK. Ronaldo will blast any free kick from almost any distance, and not score it most of the time. He took 24 last season, and only 7 even hit the target, and only 1 went in. He went on a streak of 56 free kicks over a 2 year period without scoring a single one, and some of them where from 'Mata-range'
Mata has better technique, accuracy and conversion rate. Ronaldo blasts it wildly. Sometimes they rifle in, but most of the time they float high and wide or hit the wall.
It's up for debate what constitutes a better free kick taker, but I'd take Mata's high conversion rate over Ronaldo's unrealistic pot shots with no real accuracy.

Ofcourse he isnt, he played for us 6 years and Im not sure he even took FK's for us until his 2nd season. You can prefer a fk taker like Mata, but he has very very little chance of scoring a fk from range. Mata isnt in the same league as Beckham too, tbf. Mata hasnt even scored a direct FK for us this season apart from the Rojo one.Ronaldo's numbers in the Premier League weren't great either though. He's not in the Premier League's top 10 overall. He scored some emphatic free kicks for us and they look incredible when they fly in, but he also smashed plenty high and wide. He strikes the ball in such a way that it appears he has little control over it. I'd prefer a FK taker like Mata or Beckham over Ronaldo.

Well, Herrera has a better conversion rate this seasom than Messi / Ronaldo, does that make him a better goalscorer? (Extreme example). Beckham has scored more FK's than Mata, maybe relatively less but he takes FK's from more than 1 distance group.Statistically, he's better.
Erm, wtf is that tattoo on his shin?
And why did you think he took so few? Maybe because we dont get that many FK's, but also because he only takes FK from close distance. You can say Mata is the best close range FK taker from the PL, but he isnt the best FK taker in the PL.Well the question is how many of them did he actually take? Not many I believe, I reckon it's less than 10.
Highly Doubtful? Its a fact. Ronaldo's freekicks were overhyped. Just like Carlos's back in the day. Better to watch or more stunners dont make him the better freekick taker.

Cant be arsed to look at the whole list of great FK takers, but probably Beckham.Who is?
Got a bit of Rocky Maivia vibe about him.
