Just for training probably. His training shirt has no number written above the Nike logo on it unlike the other senior players who have squad numbers.

I wouldn't worry about training numbers, it wasn't until Moyes took over that the players starter wearing the correct numbers. Just look at any pics of a session under Fergie, most of them have completely different numbers.
