Great from Red Nev as always. Legend

All due respect Squeaky, but there's a massive difference in being a pundit & being a manager. Its easier to talk about the game, than it is to convince players about the game & their personal game, more importantly..

Is Nev a good coach or a potential one?! I dont think so tbh!

Nev is still part of the England set-up & England did nothin at the last World Cup. Disregard the Euro qualifiers now too - because England always fair well in those aswell as the World Cup qualifiers, but always collapse at the actual tournament. Waste of inclusion imo - dire brand of football..
That's fair enough but I think until he's actually proven himself as a stand-alone manager (and you can't judge from the call-up to the England squad as no-one really knows what his actual level of input is allowed to be) we'll have to wait and see.

I think he'll do brilliantly personally as his insightful tactical and technical "punditry" (as you put it) is spoken on a level that anyone (even premiership footballers) can understand - the first hour of MNF is one of the most eagerly awaited shows in my house (albeit just be me, but I'm in charge of the remote :smirk:). I'd go so far as to say that his insights are easily a class above anything we've seen recently and seem to be having the effect of dragging everyone else's average standards up with him too (bye-bye Redknapp).

But that, as you point out, is just a personal opinion and I guess we'll just have to shelve the speculation and watch this space … fancy starting a thread with a poll and seeing who was right a few years down the line?

Thats a crackin post man, really top notch & very humorous too (in a good way & i'm not dissing you either) :)

I've no idea what Nevs intentions are, but he has a shitload of UEFA coaching badges (maybe them all), so if he's gone that far down the line - then he must want to manage a club at some stage, otherwise its all been a waste of time & effort with that achievement.

Nev has blown all pundits apart, but does he really want to leave all that excitement he has now? I not so sure man!

Alot of players get into management / coaching, so to be around football & that there's never a void in their lives. But Nev is around football 24hrs with Sky & his own preparations for each game, so i'm not so sure he'll be eager to jump shit anytime soon.

Will he manage / coach a football club at some stage? Quite possibly he will indeed, but not anytime soon imo Squeaky.

Start a poll of course man - that could be a crackin thread tbh. There must be a thread on this subject though - its too obvious not to. Suss it out anyway & if there's no poll - then start one in a new thread brother

Thanks, although I've never started a thread (was kinda hoping you'd do it ttytt!)
Mostly think it was this* recent StrettyNews interview (brilliant read btw) that got me thinking about Neville as a manager eventually. He says he's been involved with United on the club side since he was 5yo … that's overkill in anyone's book and I don't blame him for wanting a break. But you've only got to listen to the guy, when he speaks honestly, to know how important a part of his life this club is and that his future must be inextricably linked with us in some way or another in the years to come.

I've Had a tenner with my dipper mate that he gets 15 goals next year.

Easy money imo.

Neville on Memphis.

I love the insight that he provides by not trying to be politically correct(saying English players in particular can't do it). Without the commentary those double-triple movements seems as the most basic thing a winger can do and like something every winger should be capable of learning in no time - but apparently not.

Not sure how many times I've seen Robben doing exactly that without realizing it was something very unique. That was the exact thing that Zaha lacked completely, the ability to create space for himself. He always either stood still and received the ball or made a one line run.

It also has a lot to do with Depay's capability to get passed a defender with his first touch. With his back towards the defender he can touch it once to put the ball behind the defender and turn him and get a yard ahead. That forces the defender to defend him like that. Depay is playing him with his options here, the defender has to defend all of his options and it is much easier if the winger hasn't got the skills for all of those options.

Counting European matches, he's got 28 goals in 38 games. 22 goals in 29 appearances in the league and 6 goals in 9 appearances in Europe.

Such pace for this goal against Panathinaikos.

How I'm looking forward to having a player who makes scoring goals look easy again!
Feels like we haven't scored a goal like that since 2008.

Didn't Di Maria score one just like that early this season?

No he had that nice scooped goal against Leicester but it was a nicely built up goal rather than a simple, lightening counter attack.

Which one? It was Rooney v Arsenal, no?

Yeah he did. I forgot about that one in fairness. They haven't exactly been commonplace over the last few years though!

Wasn't there a goal where he broke away and chipped the keeper like that? I'm a bit worried I'm actually making this up in my head.

vs Yeovil

I keep seeing his goals and thinking, keeper should do better! Im still excited but it just shows the difference of standard of defending and goalkeeping. Im not 100% certain he will be a success but he has a brilliant chance!
Thats how goals look in all the other leagues. Some of the goals Ronaldo and Messi score, Im thinking what the feck are the defense and the keeper doing. But then I realized sometimes great players make things like that look so easy on the eye.

------------De Gea-----------

-Jones-Smalling-Rojo--Blind-

------------Carrick-----------
-----Herrera-----------------
--------------------Mata----

-Di Maria-Rooney-Memphis-

Our strongest XI?

Apparently he's not playing the last game as PSV and our club don't want to risk him playing on a 100% synthetic surface.

I haven't really seen Depay play much as I don't watch the Dutch league, with all the hype around him im assuming he must be very good but am I the only one who doesn't actually think he looks that great in these YouTube clips? I know YouTube videos are a poor way to judge players as anyone can string some highlights together of a player and make them look class. But that's partly my point, every video I watch I see the same couple of goals that look quite good and in the rest of the video he just looks average, surely there should be more highlights of a player that is so highly rated, he must have done something to be seen as the next big thing? I could find videos of many other wingers who look a lot better on YouTube.

I am hoping and guessing he really is actually that good as so many people rate him, maybe its his general overall play that is so impressive, rather than the odd moments of brilliance that are displayed on YouTube. But people are talking of him being the next Ronaldo and there so much hype but I just don't see it from the video clips. Anyway I just hope he does turn out to be a great player for us and I will save my real judgement until he starts playing for United.

No one is talking about him being the next Rinaldo.

I have read and heard people say it. Anyway that's not the point, its just about him being rated so highly when from what I have seen it seems over the top. I will await the abuse for daring to say a United signing doesn't look as good as people are making out lol. Im sure he is that good, as everyone cant be wrong, I just haven't seen it myself yet.

Depay changed his game, nowadays he tries to be as effective as possible, but if you look at older videos you will see a difference:

This may have been covered but what squad number do people think he will have? 9 instead of Falcao? 11 if Januzaj goes out on loan (would be harsh but not sure Januzaj deserves number 11 or is quite ready to live up tp the hype of carrying that number).

Probably something really underwhelming like 14 or 23.

I like that top video... While last season he showed how good he is a goalscorer, it's good to see that he has that creative and flashy side to him as well, capable of going past a few players at will. Now you just hope he finds a good balance between the two and doesn't become just a pure goalscorer (purely for entertainment purposes probably, though how he plays will depend on what we need I guess).

Feel like 14 is nailed on to be him. He's not a striker so can't see him getting 9, and he'd only get 7 if Di Maria was sold.

Brendan ROdgers: "we weren't interested in the player..."

then we found out that liverpool met with the player's representative
