Where the feck is the interview? MUTV can never keep up with the schedule...

I realise that some people on here are excited about this guy and believe that he should go straight into our first team, probably because he is a shiny new player.
Some also want Valdes to play instead of DDG - madness. [Seriously, why would you put the best GK in the World on the bench?]

IMO, he isnt ready for this yet (perhaps after pre-season LVG will assess).
For him to replace A.Young in the first team, immediately, is asking too much from him.

Players like Falcao and Di Maria - I expected to go straight into the first team as they are big names and were expected to make impact. Unfortunately, the only impact they made, was on the bench, with their ass-cheeks.
Like Ronaldo (and unlike ADM, Falcao, Herrera), he will probably need 1-3 years before he becomes a first team regular.

Ashley Young is a great player and as the transfer record holder ADM has found out, its not easy to displace him.

ok

Memphis is 3 years older than Ronaldo was when he joined us, I'm not expecting 20+ goals in the first season but I certainly hope he excels enough to displace a fairly basic player like Young.

Can we loan him in for the rest of this season already please? Come on FIFA. No-one will notice or mind.

Good interview, looked like he could barely hold his laugh when he was asked about Liverpool.

Di Maria probably is battling for a spot with Mata and not Young, but I agree with you overall. Memphis will be good enough to play matches next season, but I think that he'll be 2nd choice behind Young at first. He probably will be a super-sub like he was at the worldcup too.

He will need time to become consistent, but as long as he performs he can keep his spot though.

Depay, Ronaldo and Rooney up front next season. Make it so.

I'm really excited about this transfer. What gives me so much encouragement, are the things I hear about his training ethic. The way he is the first one on the training field, and will stay for hours after practicing to get better. Only a few players really have that singular passion, an almost pathological drive, to be the best. From everything I see and hear, Depay has that.

Jesus man - dont be gettin folk day-dreaming with that. Far too tasty a line-up for the imagination to handle tbh

Should have worded that better i meant it in as how long before he reaches that level if you get me? Be delighted if everyone is pining over him.
He's got a lot of potential. :) I am genuinely excited about Memphis seeing as recently we've been missing out on this kind of talent.

Interesting indeed. Either way, once we stepped up, the thing was done.

Big time man. Whether it was our pulling power of being a proper big club (PSG have only been around since 1970 & only won 2 league titles in seasons: 85-86 & 93-94, before the oil sugar daddies rolled in) or that we offered more wages, is besides the point. We got our man & LvG really wanted this class act, more to the point too.

Sportwitness talk alot of bollox, no doubt, but sometimes you find a good read that gives alot of background & its informative too.

I especially liked the slaggin of Rodgers - what a gobshite he is; coming out with all that "we didnt want to sign him.." blah blah..

Thats what Fergie used to do back in the day & he got away with much of it because no-one knew the whole in's & out's. You cant do it now though - social media & clubs being so open to increase their profile etc. has meant that info gets out in the open very quickly..

Hope he turns out like when you buy him in Football Manager 2015, where he always bangs in 30+ goals and gets the assists aswell.

You have to wonder if we'd be better off with Neville under LvG? No disrespect to Giggs but … whoever gets this bloke is minted when he goes into management. At least he's a stone cold red!

Great from Red Nev as always. Legend

All due respect Squeaky, but there's a massive difference in being a pundit & being a manager. Its easier to talk about the game, than it is to convince players about the game & their personal game, more importantly..

Is Nev a good coach or a potential one?! I dont think so tbh!

Nev is still part of the England set-up & England did nothin at the last World Cup. Disregard the Euro qualifiers now too - because England always fair well in those aswell as the World Cup qualifiers, but always collapse at the actual tournament. Waste of inclusion imo - dire brand of football..
