---------------Rooney--------------
Di Maria-------Mata----------Depay

Is it going to work something like this then?
I think at the start of the season, it'll be this:

di Maria - Rooney - Mata
Depay on the bench to begin with unless it's unforced. Course, di Maria will be at the Copa America and might be a bit fatigued, so Depay competing with Young in that case. I think we will continue with the 4-3-3 though and it'll be Mata, di Maria, Depay and Young competing for the wide berths.

In case anyone was wondering if he could speak any English.

I thought all young Dutch people could speak English. I went to college with a group from Holland and they were shocked that most of us couldn't speak other languages.

Oh shit!, i had been avoiding everything football this week and then i just thought i would come on here and BANG!.

Brilliant player with a huge future.

Happy to see this come to fruition rather quickly. Now we have genuine depth on the wings to go full-fledged 4-3-3.

PSG fans are so bitter.
Apparently he is going to ruin his career with Van gaal, United shouldn't be able to buy players before the window opens, United should concentrate on the defense instead of pilling wingers...

A huge, young talent who is relatively unproven in top league, but has every chance to become a world-class player. There is some similarity like when we signed Ronaldo from Sporting. It is the anticipation for him to become better and better, scaling new heights with every step, that makes this signing exciting, even more than when we secured AdM last summer

Obviously comes with music which won't be to everyone's taste, but here's a quick video of some highlights from his World Cup performances.

Seen a few people say Depay is a seriously determined guy but I've also seen some talk of him having a bit of an attitude problem too. Can anyone shed some light on his character?

The video isn't working for me but what struck me from the little the featured at the World Cup, was that he seemed fearless. I liked that. When a young player aged 19/20 comes on in the World Cup, and if nothing else, at least have the balls to pick up the ball and run at defences, that's a positive.

I've given LVG and the club a lot of stick about our signings, but £20 million for Depay sounds like really good business. I was expecting a bidding war around £30 million.

Great job LVG, Woodward and club

Keane, Cantona and Ronaldo were all accused of having attitude issues

He had a tough youth and wasn't focussed on his football at first, skipped school, done petty crimes, continually hang out with bad friends etc. Football was his only chance to stay on the good path but his youth coaches couldn't handle him, at PSV he got the right management. After he broke trough into PSV starting XI and got selected for the WC he got an enormous drive to reach the top. He got over his problems in no time - he's no saint yet but he's dedicated to his football now. He's got a very specific plan to reach the top and so far he's on his way, he's improving everything on the pitch and off the pitch. He hired professionals by himself for his personal life: diet, money spending and stuff.

I have no doubts about his mentality or attitude, even at the worldcup he was just happy to train with RvP and Robben.

He is extremely self-confident, to a point that some people view it as arrogant. And he used to have some attitude problem until he met LVG. He's a changed man since then, and is fiercely ambitious in improving himself. Basically an attitude like C.Ronaldo's.

He's just a kid, a kid that grew up hating his father.
he will be fine.

He cost cheaper than Lallana?

:lol::lol::lol:

Anyway, that was an excellent job done by everyone at United to get this guy for a very reasonable price tag considering the context of the potential bidding war there could have been.

Not bothered about attitude problem, I love that in a player.

He had a tough upbringing with child abuse, no father figure in his life which affected him in his earlier years, but he has improved immense and matured the way people expected him to do. The World Cup debut and trust from LVG were the icing on the cake for him and he is determined to leave his past behind and make a name for himself in international football.

Could have been a win-win situation if we sent Januzaj to PSV on loan as part of the Depay deal. Would have been a good place to get some regular first team football.
