Absolutely crapping it and loving it!
Van Gaal knows Depay's qualities better than most people. If he's not Van Gaal's priority I'm sure it's with reason.
I hope not.Not fussed if our first option is indeed Bale. We have much much more of a chance of winning the league with Bale than Memphis in the side
Hopefully unlike them we won't regret this one.NOOOO!! For fecks sake. This will be the forth winger that I've really wanted us to have that would have been perfect. Sanchez, Moura, Hazard and now Memphis. My 100% record look like it will stay intact.
Hopefully unlike them we won't regret this one.
He's always loved attention, even when he got linked to clubs in the past you'd see him gloat. He's also favorited Manchester United comments so I'm not too bothered by it.
It's still a 3 horse race for his signature, with maybe more clubs willing to join in. He's checking all options first before he decides, which is a smart thing. Still think he'll choose us if we put an offer in.
That makes me even sadder that Falcao hasn't worked out for usUnfortunately for threads from August 2013 and earlier, the top posters thing doesn't show so quite a lot of stats are missing.
Will he still wait around while United are trying to get their primary target? Reading from your description of the player, he seems like someone who has a lot pride and may not wait around as a backup to anyone. He's always loved attention, even when he got linked to clubs in the past you'd see him gloat. Your patience and optimism in this thread is admirable.

I don't believe the Bale rumours for a start, Memphis makes much more sense for van Gaal.
-He likes right/left foot balance. Bale would be the 4th left footed wide player with 1 right footed 30 year old Ashley Young, no way van Gaal will do this. Young is already keeping Di Maria out. Can't see any of Mata/Di Maria leaving either.
-He likes to work with young players, he can mold them and in 5 years he'll claim it was him who helped Memphis to the top. This is one of the reasons van Gaal didn't retire yet. He's said he enjoyes that part of the job alot.
-Bale would cost too much. Van Gaal only had 1 summer transfer window and I think he will have several area's he wants to improve. Buying Bale would seriously hamper him in chasing his other targets, it just doesn't seem realistic to me. I doubt RM will sell their record fee man for a loss after 2 years, they aren't that stupid.
I only listen to reliable sources regarding Memphis. The last news is that he's just checking different clubs and that we've made contact. This fills me with enough hope, what would van Gaal otherwise want to know from PSV? He knows Memphis and will have followed him this year and he knows he could pay any price PSV wants. He now probably knows the price and can complete the deal within days if he wants to. I still think we can offer the best total-package.
That's what I'm hoping for
I don't believe we're after a different target. Memphis is a perfect option for the left wing, exactly what we need. He's a goalscoring direct winger who knows van Gaal.
If we're after him we won't buy him for the bench. Van Gaal won the CL with kids, he doesn't care that much about age. If Memphis plays well he will keep his place under van Gaal, he knows this.
No we need to react to every little thing like it's life or death.Great post!
Some folks here need to chill .. ...Memphis is as good as ours.
This is sad. Why won't we just sign him!
Charlie Adam it is then.We are aiming for something bigger
If he scores goals from the half line on a weekly basis, it's fine by meCharlie Adam it is then.
If this is true I wonder what the thinking is, I know most seem to reckon it's Bale we are after but that seems a long shot.

If he's dumb enough to go to Liverpool when there are so many other choices then I don't think he is (mentally) good enough for usDe Gea leaving, this guy going to Liverpool, losing to Everton.. Not a great week we've had
Hard to figure what would attract him to Liverpool over the other teams apaprently in for him. No Champions League (probably), unlikely to challenge for the title next season, not that many exciting players to play along side. The only reason I could fathom would be that he wants to be the big fish and worries about being a bit part player at a club at a team with a big squad.
I think that's a pretty huge thing. Sure he'll want to be in the CL, but why go to a CL club if he may just be on the bench for most of it? At his stage of his career, he will want to be playing regular football and Liverpool will almost certainly offer that. Other clubs probably won't give him those assurances and to me, it makes sense should he choose them. If I was in his situation, playing time would be my main concern.
He'l likely have more or similar competiting for his place at Pool than at United or PSG in all honesty.
They have Sterling (who is a ganranteed starter) then they also have Markovic (who they recently invested a similar amount on and have similar hopes for) and Jordan Ibe (the new Sterling). Plus he might find himself playing wingback....
We at United don't actually have many wingers his competition would be Di Maria, Young and Januzaj (who looks likely to be going out on loan)
If you add the fact we'll be in the UCL and so have more games to rotate players in, I doubt playing time is a great reason to choose Liverpool over United.

It's pretty much exactly the same scenario at both clubs.
Sterling v Di Maria
Young v Markovic
Januzaj v Ibe
We also have Mata who plays wide. If anything he will have it tougher here and our wingers are more accomplished than theirs overall.
He's probably not our first choice anyway so I doubt it's a straight choice.
True, though he could have got that at PSV and played in the Champions League to boot, so there's obviously more to it than that alone. Its about the balance between finances, opportunities to play at a high level/win things, and time on the pitch.
Liverpool would offer the most playing time alongside Spurs (of the teams linked), but would probably have the worst offer in terms of finances and playing at a high level/winning things. After all, even a casual familiarity with the Premier League would tell you that Liverpool are outsiders to get in the Champions League in the next few years and a title challenge is exceedingly unlikely in the forseeable future.

If we want him, we'll get him. We can offer a higher wage, more chances for trophy and he'll have to play under a manager which he knows and apparently likes. He's going to end up at Liverpool I reckon, they've done all the running and put the effort in to make him feel wanted
