Calm the feck down. No one is spending £100m on Bale

Maybe we don't want him.
If we buy Bale, it'll be in excess of £100m. Why would Real take a loss on him? Especially when we are the only fools willing to spend that amount of money on him as evident by the last time we tried to sign him.

We won't sign Bale and if we do we won't pay 100m. You can quote me on that.

£70m would be profit for Madrid.

I thought they bought him for £85m although the strengthening of the pound against the euro means you're probably right.

In any case, I'm sure they'd try to fleece a few more pennies off us like they did with Di Maria for a player they don't have to sell. I'd be even disappointed if we bought Bale for £80m considering you could buy Hummels, Depay and Gundogan for that money with money left over.

It really annoys me that we'd be willing to spend £100m on Bale when for a fifth of the price we could have this guy. He's not as talented but he someday could be. Whatever happens to developing players? There's also much more pressing concerns in our squad than a winger right now.

We're paying way over the odds for him. We are becoming so reckless with our spending, and a joke in the transfer market and it'll eventually bite us in the ass. There's only so much we can spend before FFP becomes more of a problem. Not to mention us just handing £160m to Madrid on overrated players.

Jumping the gun much?

It sounds to me as though we're "one step behind" Liverfail and PSG because they've made more of an effort to establish club demands / player terms. I don't think we're at a disadvantage whatsoever by having only made an enquiry and perhaps not pursued it as vehemently as other clubs, particularly considering it's the 1st May and we're not even guaranteed CL football yet.

As far as Depay is concerned, we suffer a catastrophic brainfart and finish 5th. Why in God's name would he rush into a decision on the basis of "it's likely they'll be in the CL"...?

This is certainly the summer to buy players from Europe, given the Pound / Euro rate at the moment.

French newspaper L’Equipe are accusing PSV of making up PSG’s interest in Memphis Depay to drive up the wingers price.

PSV director Marcel Brands has stated on several occasions that PSG and English side Liverpool are the two most concrete clubs in the race to sign Depay this summer, and its even been suggested that the 21-year-old has spoke with both clubs.

However L’Equipe are reporting that PSG are hampered by the financial fair play rules, and will instead use this summer to sign one bigger named player, with the article suggesting Angel di Maria, and Paul Pogba as targets.

The French newspaper believe’s that PSV have greatly exaggerated PSG’s interest to ensue a bidding war between Liverpool and Manchester United for their star player, who will likely be sold for upwards of €25 million this summer.

That article may explain why Ed is laying back in the cut with his hat flipped sideways playing with his gold chain while B-Rod is running around giving tours and speeches.

Go on Woody, sign Depay and Bale, don't care who you sell from the forward line to finance these purchases.

I very much doubt it. Memphis has been to Paris with his agent, how can their interest be exaggerated? PSV won't lie about the interested clubs, why should they? Memphis gets to decide where he wants to go, a bidding war won't do much.

It could be that PSG don't see him as a first target, but the reports in Holland wrote: If Memphis agrees to PSG's terms, the owner will give the green light to sign him.

Or PSG are distancing themselves from a target they know they won't get....

I doubt that. They can very easily get him especially if we are not in the race to sign him. If its between them and Liverpool they have a very strong chance.

Final decision is still up to the player so they can use his marketing value all they want in this case. Doesn't matter in a long run. United always need to pay at least 5-10 millions more.

Ive heard from "unreliable" sources close to him that he won't sign for any club that has no CL football. So liverpool seems unlikely.

Liverpool have been linked with Cheryshev and Son Heung Min in recent days. They're probably looking for alternatives knowing that they're not getting Depay.

Can we tempt Sanchez to sign for us?

He'd be a better signing than either one of Depay or Bale. We missed a trick signing Di Maria instead of him during the summer.

As far as I'm aware he's not. Even PSG have a bigger chance than them.
Sometimes it feels like it also depends on Van Gaal. I mean, the guy can probably call him on his private cellphone and congratulate him after winning the league and talk like friends.

I will be almost stunned if LVG won't have a word or two in all of this.

The summer debates over who would be the better signing between Sanchez and Di Maria seem like a long time ago now :(

In my eyes this transfer is all about van Gaal. Memphis wants to come here, but will Louis want him? I'm sure they will speak to each other, either for signing a contract or van Gaal advising Memphis where to go to. If van Gaal wants him we'll get him, I still think he does.

I'm pretty sure that he wants CL football if he chooses a different club.

I'm sure we will hear something concrete by the end of the month. I still think Memphis will end up here.

Memphis Depay Should Make Liverpool Move, Claims Agent

process

Famous Dutch agent Rob Jansen has spoken out about countryman Memphis Depay's future, and said that under no circumstances should he choose to go to Paris Saint Germain - but Liverpool would be a good option for the PSV star.

"He must certainly not go to Paris Saint-Germain", Jansen told TV programme Business Class.

"The club are totally unsuitable for him. He needs to go to a club where he is sure of playing football.

"I think England is the best option", Jansen continued."I heard Liverpool's name mentioned, which would be an excellent club for Depay."

The 21-year-old is one of the most sought after names in Europe at the moment, and it is thought that PSG, Manchester United and Liverpool are the three top clubs in the chase.

Liverpool and PSG are said to be ahead of Louis van Gaal's side in the race for his signature, as PSV technical director Marcel Brands revealed last week.

“PSG and Liverpool are indeed a step ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Memphis. United have only informed us about their interest,” Brands told Fox Sports.

“The list of interested clubs has grown in recent weeks. But Bayern Munich are not among the teams that want to sign him.”

process

Brands continued to state that the high volume of interest in his client at this stage of the season is not unusual - given the talent he possesses.

“It’s only logical that there is a lot of movement around Memphis. He is still a young player, but is already hugely efficient. He should be proud of that.

“There isn’t usually a lot of movement in the transfer market at this stage of the season. It’s an exception that so many clubs have already shown an interest in Memphis.

“That only illustrates that he’s on the right track.”

Name dropping Liverpool like that certainly makes you wonder...

Claims agent who isn't affiliated with Depay.

How to make a headline 101. Piss poor.

Big name agent, not Memphis' one though. Kees Ploegsma is, Kees Vos is the director of SEG. Those 2 their opinions count.

Sterling replacement ? Sounds legit.
Aside from his obvious talent and improvement to the squad, it makes sense because he could definitely fill in a lot better than Lambert/Balotelli/Sterling have done as the makeshift striker when Sturridge is out for 70% of the year.

I will be gutted if we don't go in for him, you just know he will be the next best player in the world along with Hazard IMO.
