Great free kick. However, most of his dribbling attempts failed. This video did not convince me tbh.
At this point if you arent convinced, then its going to be hard. What ever argument is made, you are going to counter it. He has scored 20 goals in 27 appearances. People are arguing he is playing in a shit league. His performances are still good and he can only score against the people he is going up against. He has done well on the international stage as well. He is no where near the finished product. He has bags of potential and I cant see anyone other than Van Gaal help him with it.

The biggest selling point, aside from tons of potential, is he understands what LVG wants in that position.

No brainer signing.

That's the most sensible post in a while. If we've made contact then I can't see him going elsewhere unless a silly money bid comes in

I have not watched him regularly so this video and his performances in the WC are what my opinion is based on. Not a bad player but nowhere near someone like AdM or Bale.
Unfinished Nani is the comparison that comes to my mind.

If we can get him for the right price - great. However, nobody can guarantee that he won`t end up like Zaha or Cuadrado at Chelsea.

I see him play on the left instead of Young (if he manages to take Young's place) and I see Di Maria on the bench or on the right wing.

Im still convinced he'll come good and dont want his place to be on our bench in the long term.

If you've not watched him regularly then how can you make such an informed assessment?

Well no one is making the argument that he is as good as Di Maria or Bale. And of course there is no guarantee he is going to make it here. No signing is nailed on to make it anywhere.

I would add he is more intelligent on the pitch than Nani.

Hes being whored out, reckon we will get him but PSV are trying to get stupid money for him
Can't say I blame them. We've had dealings with them before, and they've been largely amicable so I don't see a problem with the final price

At the WC, whenever he played, he played up front rather on the wing, right? Not sure how much he played before the tournament though.

Also, does he take penalties, or is it just fks?

He takes both. He wont for us since we have Rooney. But freekicks, it should be him from the left and Mata from the right.

A younger Nani. . Time is on his side but he wouldn't be an immediate improvement, he needs to compete with Mata, Januzaj, Young and Nani if we keep him (WWithout mentioning Lingard etc)

He wouldn't be competing with Januzaj or Lingard. The former has quite a bit to do and as for the latter...well, I can't see his future here unless something spectacular happens

He started that game against Australia when he scored and he played as winger, as they used a 3-4-3 or 4-3-3 in that game rather then a 3-5-2. From memory at least, I could be wrong.

He will contribute more than Young and he is miles better than Lingard (dont even make that comparison). Januzaj aint really playing right now. Not sure where we stand on him. Loan next season? If we are getting Depay then it looks like Nani's time is done at the club. Dont think he will be happy on the bench.

Ok I agree about Lingard, but Mata and ADM would be before him, and he's done nothing to suggest he's currently better than Nani or Januzaj and Youngs rejuvenated form

Point is, you can play 2wingers, reremove Nani, Young and Januzaj and he still has to displace Di Maria or Mata... For the 25-30m I'd much rather Schneiderlin

20 goals and topscorer of the Eredivisie as a winger, 2 goals at the WC, recent world class performance vs Spain, been important in the Europa League, sorry to say but he's been miles better than Januzaj, and you could argue that Young hasnt been any better either.

You're not serious? Januzaj, okay he hasn't started much but his improvement has stalled. Young is dependable but isn't getting younger

No - he played wide in the world cup games.

Penalties and free kicks

We are going to be playing around 50 games next season? ADM or Mata are not going to play every game. Dip in form, injuries, depth in squad, rotation etc.

Really? Schneiderlin still wouldn't start ahead of Herrera or Carrick, and he's not an attacking midfielder to go in the other spot. Depay has huge potential, and is the type of wide player we are missing. A goalscoring threat with pace, ability and is physically strong. He won't be a starter right away but he'll get there once he adapts and develops more...

Saying we already have decent options out wide is the type of thinking that led us to miss out on Hazard because we didn't want to spend the extra few mil. Depay, according to anyone who watches him on a semi regular basis, is one of the next big things but already a very good player. Also on your other post, he is miles ahead of Januzaj, nobody can even argue that, and although I rate Nani, he hasn't been at his best for about 3 years or even close to it. Young is decent at best, in great form at the moment but turning 30 I think.

ADM and Mata would be in front, I'm not doubting his quality, but he is very inconsistent, while I appreciate his age, this is our gripe with Januzaj and he will NOT be loaned out next year

Carrick next season will be a year older, his injuries will worsen, and Schneiderlin would start with Carrick in big games, or in place of when Carrick picks up all his injuries

Not sure how much you've seen of Nani either to say that.. I don't think we shouldn't go for him, just that there are other positions that needs strengthening more IMO

I'm not sure why you think this transfer would prevent us from strengthening other positions too?

Wing IS a position we need to strengthen in. Wing, CM, CB and maybe RB depending on if we keep Rafael or not. We have the money to strengthen all the positions and Depay is going to be cost 18-25m, which is not bad for a position we need strengthening in.

Agreed.

Not true. They've held onto him this year (normally Dutch clubs can't refuse 20m) with a gentleman's agreement to sell him. He wanted to become topscorer and champion, he's delivered both. A transfer fee of 30m + is something PSV will accept, they won't force him onto the highest bidder.

He just takes freekicks. He missed 2 penalties and stopped taking them a long time ago. He only plays on the left wing, he never played striker. This is his first full season, he broke trough into the first team of PSV halfway last year.
