And what happens when van Gaal leaves? I wouldn't say we're in prime position but in this era of football, money does talk.
There's next to no chance Van Gaal will leave this summer and no telling now long he'll stay.
Even if he does and somebody like Guardiola comes in I doubt Depay would be too unhappy

Doubt we'll get him. I think if Levy is willing to spend the money he'll end up at Spurs. No guarantee that LvG will even be your manager if you don't make top four.
okayShaw is already a better player than Clyne and in the future when comparing the two it will look more and more like a no-contest.
Personally, I can see Guardiola taking over at City but I wouldn't be against him being the next United manager. I just think how we ensured Giggs was made assistant, we want him as manager somewhere along the line.

Know in serbia for his strange behaivour. There were rumors, although they deny it, that Nemanja Vidic and Dejan Stankovic said that they wont play for Serbia / Jugoslavija / Serbia and Montenegro if Kežman was in the team.
I'd be happy with this. Strikes me as the kind of player who could really take his game to a top level if he develops right. United should hopefully be the place to do it.
He's better value for money than the prices that were paid for David Luiz, Andy Carroll and Fernando Torres. City spent £30-35m on Mangala who's not had the greatest of first seasons at City, Shaw will prove his worth in the long run.

Well we certainly hope so. The one thing with potential is that you can never know for sure whether they will deliver on it. Jones for example has hardly progressed that much in all his time here. Keeping fit and getting over his injury woes will be vital.
It was as fair as David Luiz for 50m. United significantly overpayed for Shaw considering that he was an 18 years old with two season on EPL. And he became the most expensive right/left back on the history of football.
That doesn't mean that Shaw won't become a great player (although it is far from being a guarantee) and that we won't get those money back from his quality service. But we overpayed for around 100% of his value and with less money we could have signed far better players (like Ricardo Rodriguez for example).
You can swat the positions ofwords 'Shaw' and 'Mangala' on this sentence, and still it would look the same. Both clubs were mad to pay those money for those plauers.
Obviously we get better value for money that Liverpool and Chelsea for Carroll and Torres, but that doesn't mean much. Comparing with David Luiz is quite impossible right now, unless you're from the future. Luiz has had a much better season than Shaw though.
What? How do you even know that? So far he hasn't even looked a £15million player let alone twice that. I usually rate him very highly defensively, but he got shagged by Chamberlain on Monday and can't seem to put in a decent cross to save his life. So far he hasn't had a great start to his United career at all. (Yes I know we paid for his potential, but at United you also have to put in a certain level of performance straight away). I know better than to judge a 19 year old on his debt season, but anyone saying we got good value for Shaw based on his performances so far are a bit deluded. Depay for £21million would be brilliant business by the club, he's scored something like 20 plus goals this season hasn't he?
Shaw was injured on Monday and taken off. He'll be seen as a bargain if he fulfils his potential and nails down the LB spot long-term.
Did Evra - our last great left back - put in good performances straight away? Hell no. Sure he cost a lot less but as others above have said, Shaw comes with the English player markup, PL experience, and is a hell of a lot younger.
I think it's insane for people to be passing judgements on our new signings already. Give them a chance - at least two seasons.
When you pay £30million for a left back, Yes I would want him to perform straight away, otherwise it was pretty pointless buying him, considering we are rebuilding.
Of course I'm not going to judge him yet, I was just replying to the guy who said he was value for money, because from what I've seen so far he isn't close to "value" for money. Obviously I'm thinking and hoping that will change next season.

Myeah, I'd agree he's not been a "value for money" signing so far, but there's always a higher price for English players and he's considered a great prospect so overall I think it's a fairly reasonable price. A little higher than would have been ideal (20-25 mill would have been more appropriate), but we didn't pay too far over the odds imo.

At 17 Luke Shaw became the first choice LB of a mid table club. And last season at just 18 years old he made the PFA team of the year. People who are already question us signing him are out of their minds. He is player that proved he can play at this level at a very young age. It will be fine. He had a few injuries this season that has led to a bit of inconsistency it happens. When we spent big money for teenage Rooney he was also a bit inconsistent his first season.

Simon Mullock saying we're poised to sign Depay. Says we've been scouting him for more than two years and have a very close relationship between him and his agent. Apparently we've sent a delegation to visit PSV every month this season. This week we've spent a lot of time with his agent.
Think he'll weigh his options up at the end of the season. If us, Liverpool and Spurs are all in for him then it might come down to CL spots. I think we have the advantage because we can pay him better wages and apparently his relationship with van Gaal is very good. But we'll see I suppose.

I'd say united are big favourites because of Van Gaal's relationship with depay and the money we can offer and having nobody really to compete with him on the left. Would be surprised if he went anywhere else.

I don't think Utd are dead certain to get him, just because LvG has a good relationship with him it doesn't mean he won't go anywhere else imo. Probably gonna come down to who gets a CL spot, besides that, Rodgers seems good at nurturing young players.

Actually reading over the article again, he just says that Liverpool have scouted him for a while and because you scouted him the longest he says that Liverpool seem to be in pole position (his opinion basically). I wouldn't really say it's true just because Liverpool have scouted him longer. It could well be true that Liverpool are favourites to sign him but I highly doubt it. Think the Depay-Van Gaal relationship (and money/competition for a place in the lineup) will be a much bigger factor then anything else. Or probably whoever gets top 4 but that can be ignored with more money...
I'll be pissed if he's not a United player as soon as possible. Just the type of winger that we need.
