I dont know the exact tax specifics of France so I will not state percentages, but as a principle yes. Its quite more expensive for a French club to pay their players than for the PL-clubs relative what the players pocket. And its even more expensive in Sweden, so we will suck on a club-level forever. It's actually referring to a tax that existed between in 2013 and 2014 but it was never at 75%. Also players didn't threaten to leave, sports clubs threaten to strike though.
I think he meant more of the total tax pressure in France compared to the UK. Employer/employee. 75 percent is probably too much though.
The interesting figure is I guess how much a player would pocket himself after income tax compared to the total cost for the employer. In Sweden this would be close to 75 percent. EDIT I mean that 25 percent would be left for the player.
In France the employer contribution is around 40%, so for example a player at 100k per week costs 140k per week.

But then the player pays income tax as well. Say thats equivalent to 50 percent or so in France? I dont know but thats what the Mbappe figures led me to believe.
Then the player pockets 50k after tax. Thats basically 65 percent "tax pressure" in total.
In the UK the highest progressive tax rate is 45 percent and thats that. No pay roll tax.
So basically an French club has to pay quite a bit more for the player to pocket the same amount.
Im not signing off on these numbers btw, just playing around. But I think its important to know that you dont always compare the same numbers when you read tabloids from different countries. In Spain they almost only report the net salary for the player for example.

The income tax is at 45% for that tier, that's the part the player will pay from the gross. While the company/club will pay 42%.
De Ligt can showcase plenty with PSG. He'll be able to showcase his offensive skills over his defending but that is what seperates him. And with us he may not be able to play CL depending on our league performances. PSG definately presents the lower risk.
The curious thing about Raiola meeting PSG about the transfer of De Ligt that is being completely ignored by all, is that Raiola is banned as an agent! I don't see a damn thing reported about a proxy. Just Mino in Paris = De Ligt to PSG.

Tbf I dont think Ajax has made an official statement on the matter. And I really dont think its a contractual obligation.
And for me its more likely that they have spread the word on what transfer fee they would be likely to accept. In case of a bidding war, thats something else. I dont think Ajax are much for throwing away money for free especially for showing respect or whatever to a 19 year old player that they brought up. I would be fecking mad as an Ajax-supporter if they did not try to get top dollar.

What I do think is that Barcelona is in a real jam. They spent a lot on De Jong and have not been able to sell anybody from Coutinho, Dembele or Rakitic and the other ones they want and need to get rid of. Think they are pretty tied up for now on the market.
