Neymar has become an after thought going there, if he went there it shows a lack of ambition, if he came to us it would be similar unfortunately :(

I don't agree that coming to us would show a lack of ambition.

A lack of common sense maybe.

PSG is horrified by the Frenkie scenario and are getting stuck into De Ligt. PSG is in pole position to sign him. The Girlfriend and mother in law have started house hunting.

@Ajaxsuarez correct me if I'm wrong mate.

That's a tier 1 source.

Suárez is a nice guy off-field, and ironically he is the one who suffers racist abuse. The Uruguayan honour and values system and how it manifests in their (street) football where he grew up is different. You do it for the "family" (the team), as does the opponent, because that's honour. Of course he's such an amateur that he failed to shake it off when having a career elsewhere where this is frowned upon, but still I feel he should bite back.

Well, clearly, that’s the last thing he should be doing!

My take so far on the De ligt saga: Someone wrote that the De Ligt to PSG news could be a smokescreen of sorts - make it seem that he is going for the money then turn around to choose us, saying that he rejected the higher offer for a more prestigious club and is joining us not just for the money. By doing so, he "saves face" by not choosing Barca, and yet he gets the higher wages as compared to what he would have gotten at Barca as well, maybe around 220k instead of the 350k at PSG. We also "win" since we manage to convice him of our project, and both us and De Ligt come out looking like winners from the situation

PSG owners will pay his taxes, if he signs a contract stating he will earn 300k a week then you best believe he WILL earn 300k a week.
We’re Getting technical here, but if they pay his taxes he’s not on 300k a week before tax. Them paying his taxes = income = you get taxed on it. There’s simply no way around that. If he gets 300k a week post tax, no matter who “pays” the tax, he’s on whatever amount after tax = 300k a week.

Why do you do this to yourself?

I like the logic of this spin. Unfortunately, I think the person who came up with it probably still believes in Santa.

This is a 19-year-old kid we're talking about, not Niccolo Machiavelli.

And I'm pretty sure we have already signed him, but are secretly loaning him to PSG till January to keep up the grand drama. Smart.

He tweeted something like this during Pogba transfer too.

But it was true though? The deal wasn't done and he did not deny our interest or ongoing negotiations. Now he says that there are no negotiations between De Ligt and PSG, maybe it's also true. We will see.

I think it's just pro PSG news to seem relevant by 'being in the run' for a player.

As much as I would love him to come, United doesn’t even make much sense for De Light. He wants playing time, which he would get with us, but as soon as he makes a couple of mistakes there will be huge pressure on him. It would not be the best circumstances for his development: just look at how Martial has struggled. PSG can offer him playing time without any of that pressure.

@JPRouve

Really JP? You out of all people? When recalling an example to justify the Uber Eats title, you bring up Orange and Conforama but not the Dominos Ligue 2?

So disappointed in you. ;)

I think we were well in for him and then PSG thought if he wants the money, here’s fecking loads of it.

Which is? No CL football?

Despite our failures these past seasons, we are still a big club with history and finances to match. De ligt is the sort of prestige player who can help us attract more young talent and he will have to chance to lead a young man utd team to reach the top again.

Well, if he signs for PSG it’s just another talent that will be wasted in a league for butchers and bakers. Like Neymar, he’ll realise his mistake when it gets boring beating every other competitor 5-0 every week.

And still not making it past the UCL quarters or winning domestic doubles.

Yea, this is what I get out of it. Raiola never denied our interest, just denied any deal done. With PSG, he seems to deny any contact with PSG.

That's the difference between winning or losing two league games in a season I guess:(

That shocking run in really hampered us and our ability to move in the market I guess for players like de Ligt.

He may as well stay at Ajax than go to PSG.It’s not going to advance his career

350k a week for a 19 years old defender. Absolute madness. I can see he will never go to Barca as PSG won't let him go easily.

Seems not many players have thus far made it out of PSG. Will be an interesting one if he goes there

To be fair he is telling the truth there. The deal wasn’t done and it was a fight between which press would break it first. He didn't deny negotiations were on going.

Having said that no smoke without fire. These PSG links are everywhere

Possibly he is just covering himself regarding his ban/suspended ban etc

So despite PSG’s chairman saying they’re going to dial back their investment and FFP scrutinising everything they do, people actually think he’s going there for big money?

We appointed a rookie and can't offer CL football. Most likely we won't be able to offer it next year as well. Our football structure is in shambles and we seem to go backwards than forwards. De ligt is 19 if everything goes right for him and doesn't have injuries he has 10-12 years at top level. Spending 4-5 years at PSG will hardly be less appealing project than us at the moment, sadly.

This is the most pessimistic view of our club. Things are no where near as bad as you’re making out and thank god you’re not our chief negotiator!

Realistic more likely.

Do you honestly believe we have a chance in signing him with PSG and Barca in it?
