So despite being 25, and with quite experience, he might get even better, which is absolutely superb.

Good deal, both for the future plus instant impact of some sort.

Fantastic off the ball and some elite blocks after going a man down. Poor in the first half for me. Looks so uncomfortable at the RCB position with the ball; every time it went to him, he couldn't open his body up to pass it to Mazraoui in the channel and we basically couldn't progress it forwards. Ended the game on a high but he needs to do more with the ball.

Strong, aggressive, has good eye for danger and is not afraid to put his body on the line. Add to that, he is just 25. We robbed Bayern. Simple

Great clearance on the cross for Trossard in the 2nd half.

Not so great with the extended leg deflecting Gabriel's shot past the keeper

Some good, some not so good

Good today but I do think this sort of game suits him and Maguire because we had licence to sit quite deep

It will become realised soon hopefully that our summer transfers weren't the disaster Gary Neville and co have been making it out to be. De Ligt has been generally solid all season and took it up a few more levels today
Clueless Neville that still thinks that Arsenal side will win the league title.

Scholes was chirping about him.. That was bit weird how he went after him

What a performance.

When he adds just a little bit of patience to his game, he's an absolute colossus in the backline. I was very dissapointed when he rushed to challenge Gakpo at Anfield, but today every challenge was perfectly timed with some impressive blocks. He's a top top CB at his best. We just need to see it more.

Anyone know his history with penalties?

He's obviously been considered a leader in his earlier career, he's scored a nice goal or two with his feet and I would have expected him to take a penalty more than Yoro given the leadership and experience difference. But has he never liked penalties, or missed in the past or something? Maguire was taken off so he couldnt take one, but the other two CBs did

De Ligt is quite clearly a good signing and Ugarte looks brilliant. Zirkzee has also shown signs of improvement during his last two cameos.

Became better and better as the game went on. That clearance was magnificent, he had no right to save that!

Monster performance. Neville shaking and weeping right now.

Really impressed with how he got drawn into a couple of 1v1s in wide areas against quick wingers, yet he dealt with them perfectly. A lot of people were critical of his mobility and it's really hard to see why.

Where are the ETH haters now, eh?! Not to mention our goalie today. Such inspired signings.

Quality control
That slide tackle on that Vampire with AIDS was the best slide tackle since... Well since Lenny Yoro last week

Agreed. Then Mazraoui and Yoro who look like solid signings also. Not to mention the dross and bad eggs we got off the books on big wages

Aye, Yoro and Maz seem like signings most are on board with. The other 3 have gotten a lot of shit, and I think the only one who may not be good enough is Zirkzee. But even he deserves a chance and has shown signs of improvement the last two games.

Ugarte, Yoro, de Ligt, Mazraoui all have looked like players who will be in our squad and compete for berths in the starting XI for the foreseeable future.

Zirkzee still has plenty to prove, but the book isn't closed on him either.

Anybody who is calling our summer transfers, both in and out, disastrous is a fool. What is costing us is the poor recruitment in prior years and the sheer amount of deadwood accumulated from it.

I still find it strange Bayern let him go so soon.
Most Bayern fans (me included) thought he was our best defender and didnt want him sold. I also think he is a terrific guy and leader.

But after half of the season i have to admit that Kim and Upamecano are way better suited to Kompanys type of football.
And both are having a really good season so far (apart from the game against Barca).

So i think in the end Eberl and the people in charge made the right decision to sell de Ligt.

And as far as i can read on here most of you are happy with him, so everything is fine :)
