I still feel like he could do a job under a decent manager like Jose. LVG just killed him.
Darmian's a very average leftback imo. If Inter's buying him to play him on the left, they'll be disappointed.Yes, it is him. I assume Darmian will play there a lot of times, since on the right they have D Ambrosio and Ansaldi. Ansaldi is a LB at RB and Santon is a RB at LB. Darmian can play both sides too.
Hindsight is 20/20. Most here wanted us to avoid Nat Clyne at all costs and go all out for Darmian. We did, and the general consensus was that it was an excellent buy at the time.
Yup, most didn't want Clyne, myself included. However, most admitted that they hadn't seen Darmian play; I certainly hadn't seen him play, anyway. Most of the hype on here emanated from a band of posters that claimed to have watched him quite-a-bit and said that he was brilliant.
Brilliant no, but a very good player, playing in a set up and system that complimented him. Darmian has the ability to play in the Premier league, but he's severely lacking the confidence. Looks like there's no way back for him, he's now behind a 2nd choice teenager for his preferred position at United.
Oh great, Italian buyers. £20 pounds and a packet of quick-boil spaghetti it is then.
I'd hope that those posters watched a lot of Serie A. he was supposedly really good in Serie A.There was a small window where he kept making people's world 11 on here.

I watched a handful of games of his for the Italian NT and he also looked really, really good. Mainly at RB iirc.
But yeah, he's just ill-suited to this league it seems, and his confidence is gone. When we signed him it was actually said his an extreme introvert. Shy etc. So it's no real surprise that he's struggled to adapt. A bit like AdM I suppose. Started well and just looked like a fraud of a footballer the more time passed.
His agent said United put a block on any potential move. Jose might've wanted to see how TFM fared before letting him go. That or we couldn't sign Fabinho. He should've left in the summer.
That's the weird part yea, the (admittedly minimal) games I saw him for the Azzurri, he was good going forward, providing most of their width down the right - as the Italians struggled with a proper winger (I think they deployed a diamond midfield).I'd never seen him for Torino, but I have to agree that when I'd seen him for Italy in the NT, he looked really good, and while I may be distorting my recollections, I surprisingly remember him looking really good going forward too.
Aye, that's a weird one indeed. He looks like one of the slowest players on the squad at the moment, and my perception of him was that speed was one of his biggest assets. He's a weird one. When he came his defending looked top notch. Schweinsteiger talked about how incredibly fast he was, and now Darmian looks quite slow and can't defend. Very weird.

Exactly, you don't lose pace from changing from one league to another - unless one of those leagues is Norwegian, in which case the pace is pedestrian and anyone who can jog will look fast. Darmian doesn't look like an athlete, at all, and I think you need to be one to play fullback.Aye, that's a weird one indeed. Could be, but that doesn't explain why he looks so ridiculously slow, especially off the mark. It looks like anyone can pretty much just knock the ball past him and run.Don't think he happy here and his heart probably just isn't in playing for Man Utd. Never injured or missed a game for 4 years before coming here and then went off last season quite a few times with minor knocks.

Me saying his heart might not be in it was just a nicer way of saying he's probably not arsed in general, it's possible he's not busting his balls and running flat out to keep up with people.
While i think he has the quality to be a good right back i don't think he can ever be the attacking threat we need on that side. We should sell and fund a move for Fabinho.
Poor stamina. He looks great in a slow tempo where he can get his breathe back, but if you cant do that and recover you look slow and weak.Could be, but that doesn't explain why he looks so ridiculously slow, especially off the mark. Truth is haven't. But he's on the international football news. A right back who scores and makes the headlines for more than 6 months must be better than any of ours.Have you seen Fabinho play? Most reports say that he is good defensively but quite poor in attack and that he lacks a little pace.

That is just weird then. Never seen him play either, but he is certainly not thought of as a good attacking fullback from what I gather. So you think we should go for someone you've never seen play... Bebe-ish that oneTruth is haven't. But he's on the international football news. And take Rooney with you!
(Am I doing this right?)
Inter supposed to have made an offer:
