It's 50/50 IMO. We will probably be looking for a new RB come July and new Italy manager told him he gotta play if he wanna be part of the squad. Ain't a world beater but getting the job done.

Darmian has actually looked quite good in the last few matches - and he can play on both sides. Stupid to sell him in january... if at all

He and Valencia can both do an adequate job. Tony V has looked very good so far this season but he is prone to being out of position, whereas Darmian isn't the best going forward. I could see, and not that I agree with it, but could see Mourinho trying Jones as a right back Ivanovic style. Big, strong defender which he likes but again like Darmian he wouldn't be the best attacking right back plus his injury record is horrid. But Jose was defo bigging him up after the Swansea game. He might plod ahaead with any of these 3 until end of season, I don't see him getting anyone in Jan for right back

Darmian is an actual good defender. He's very clever and like Rojo is difficult to pass in one vs one in fact.
My issue with his game is his offensive contribution. He's not fast enough and he just can't cross. Neville wasn't fast but could cross so well.

It's actually baffling that these players don't improve certain things like darmian and his crossing. How hard is it to put extra training into it and learn new techniques?

Difficult for Darmian, the natural progression for our squad is to get in a young, top RB as Valencia transitions to back up, leaving Darmian as the 3rd wheel, so even if he stays through January I expect him to be sold in the summer.
This. A bit like with Valencia and his lack of left foot. It's really not difficult to improve on certain skills with a bit of extra practice.
This is his job. Had it been not difficult to improve, he would've. All these guys are magnificent footballers. The reason it looks ridiculous at times is from the speed of the game at high levels.

Haven't been a fan of him to say the least but I've been impressed with him lately. He's terrible going forward but he's versatile and been solid defensively in recent weeks. I would have happily driven him to his next club for most of his tenure but I would like to see him stick around now.

Definitely Jose effect. He brings all his defenders to higher level, even though they're largely average imo.
Think he's too one dimensional tbh, we need FB/WB's that are both good defensively and going forward, even our 2ND choice needs to have those qualities.

No, he's a left back but attacking is his strength so unless Jose changes his tactics to allow both fullbacks to be attacking I'm not sure he'll be a target.
Yeah, good point. Reckon if we buy Mendy from Monaco, Darmian is likely to stay, unless in case of some big offer from Italian clubs.
I think we will be after Fabinho and if we get one Monaco player, I doubt we will get a 2nd in the same window.
