I do not get the McNair at RB idea. At all.

Has he ever played there before last season? He only played CM and CB for the Reserves, don't think he was a RB for the U18s or younger, but I don't really anyone mentioning that.

He's a gifted CB, a real talent. At RB he looks completely average.

McNair is not RB just the same as Jones isn't a RB

Valencia and Rafael are the only real RBs in the team atm and the latter is always injured and the coach wants to see him replaced.

So yes we are signing Darmian for RB, I think he'll be an upgrade on Valencia but the very least there will be serious competition for that position.
Glad someone agrees with me!

Not seen much of the lad and certainly don't remember paying attention to him, but whenever the discussion of a RB happened on here people wondered why we were not in for Darmian. Looks like Woody also does some transfers based on redcafe :D

Could you at least translate the headline?
I don't read Italian, but I'd have thought "Bye Bye Darmian" should be clear enough.

The rest is United ready 18m or some words to that effect.

Did well for me on FM, can't wait to see him in a real red jersey. Hopefully very soon...

Yeah, people have already replied. Cheers for posting it though. Seems like a done deal by all accounts :)

Yea, I didn't realize we were already onto another page when I checked back after a few minutes.

Bye Bye Darmian. United are swiftly closing in for him for 18m

United are closing in on the player. Darmian has returned to Turin and is expected to leave to Manchester

From what I've read about him the last couple of days, he sounds like he's somewhat similar to Cesar Azpilicueta? More defensively strong than a rampaging right back?

We're near. Matteo Darmian is close of leaving Turin. He's expected to take a flight directly to London and then to Manchester. United are very happy with the deal and have promised him a contract that will enable him to play in the EPL. United's insistence in buying the player had been successful and the two clubs are close to seal a deal. United had offered 16m euros + 2m bonus while Turin want 16-18m + 2m bonus. The initial price was over 20m, in cash and without any players involved. As said after two weeks of negotiations the clubs are close to seal a deal and there's great optimism from the British side.

Darmian's deal. United had already arranged the contract details with Darmian's agent. According to English sources Darmian will take 2m per season (the salary will increase year after year) for 4 years. That doesn't include the bonuses. There are some trivial details that haven't yet been arranged like the use of a car and the control of some of the player's image rights. However much of the deal is made. Darmian had in fact returned to Torun were he will stay there waiting to be called. Once United and Turin had sealed the deal the player will leave to England to sign the contract were he will start his new adventure. Today he will not take part for Turin's training because he will be committed with the national side.

The only questions is, why not fly directly to Manchester? I'm pretty sure there's a direct flight from Milan.

I choose to believe he meant that first touch.

If you look at the touch, he meant to put the ball in the air, now the distance is probably fortunate because the ball goes exactly where no one can touch it except him.

You cannot have 2 equally good players for a position. That is when issues start creeping up. LVG surely knows who he wants as his #1 RB. If he was fine with Valencia there, he would have either promoted from within or bought someone who would have been happy with sub appearances or being a backup to Valencia. You don't buy and Italian international to rotate with Valencia.

Find where I said two equally good players in my post.

Also where did I say Darmian has been signed to be a back up to Valencia?

The point is if he wants to get rid of Rafael (perhaps the main reason is his injury record, who knows though) then he will want another right back, he will obviously go for the best one available currently that fits his profile and we think is reasonably priced.

Think our offices are in London where he'll sign everything then head up to Manchester for the medical and the photos.

Very good point, perhaps Woody can bring out the chopper for London to Manchester. ;)

Definitely meant the touch & definitely meant it o land there.
It's exactly the type of goal Buttner would have scored therefore I believe he is going to be shit based on that Vine alone as I haven't seen much else of him.

He looks lost there, has no business on that rightback position whatsoever

He meant it but the realization is a bit fortunate, doing that at high speed is extremely complicated.

Just seen he was let go by AC Milan.

No wonder they dropped to 10th. Their decision making is appalling. Pirlo is a key example of a player they let go when they really should have kept him.
