Tubby bastard.

Apparently €2m is all that's separating the two parties from making a deal. Hopefully this is finalised tomorrow.

Lastest:

United offered 16+2 (bonus), Torino wants 18+2 (bonus).

*million €

Is Di Marzio the only source for this rumour? I'd be far more convinced if there was somebody else chiming in.

2 million remaining? Let's set up a redcafe kickstarter for Darmian to United. See what our muppets are truly made of.

Unbelievable, with Darmian, hopefully Schneiderlin and Depay we really look like we're investing in our weak areas. I'm not really used to that

Good point. He and Shaw about 6'0, Smalling 6'4, and one of Otamendi/Ramos (who are very good aerially) makes for a nice backline with set-pieces.
And offensively with Carrick Rvp Fellaini there should be enough height to ensure one or two players are up against somebody quite a bit smaller... We just need some consistently good movement to isolate them and good delivery to pick them out

Luke Shaw is a decent player (not great - not good enough to play for Bayern, Real or Barca), though he may become great.
The issue I have is that he is mostly injured, unfit or fat.
Sometimes players' bodies are designed for pro football and I just get a niggling feeling that Luke Shaw may be sold in a few years for very little money or may walk out on a free transfer.

£30M for L.Shaw (most expensive teenager football player, who happens to be injured most of the time or unfit to play 90 minutes) is bad business, in my book. We got fleeced.
Conversely, I think Memphis (also a player bought for his potential) will become great in a few years time, so I have no issue with his price-tag.
At least with Fellaini, we got our money's worth out of him last season. He played most of the games and was an important player.

But of a mental post. Shaw has plenty of time to come good, he's 19 FFS.

Depay could be brilliant he could be shit. He could be Nani. Who knows. Similar price range on a young unproven player so it's just as much of a punt.

We definitely did NOT get £27.5m worth of football from Fellaini last season.

Never really seen Darmian so not sure what he can bring. How close to signing is he on the transfer cock-ON-ometer then?

I've noticed a lot of club announcements on my Wednesday day off from work. I'm feeling confident for tomorrow

Jesus.

The kid's played two proper seasons of senior football. In one of them he was fit and firing throughout, in the other he had injury problems.

It's safe to say that's not a dataset which you can use to draw any meaningful conclusions.

Just putting this out there, how do you guys think he compares to Coleman?
Coleman in 13-14 had a better season than Darmian ever had. Darmian in the last few seasons was miles better than Coleman last season.

Coleman is better attacking wise, Darmian is better defensively. I think Darmian might still develop while Coleman IMO has alreay peaked.

All things considered, I think that they are at around the same level, with Darmian being more than a year younger. For the same price I would have preferred Coleman (only because he is familiar with the league) but Darmian is going to cost 12-14m while Coleman would cost twice as much, so I would be happy with signing Darmian.

Must not mean something, but he had the number 36 at Torino. Wouldnt be surprised if he kept it.

Aye, from the stats I saw Darmian was usually better defensively, Coleman offensively. Darmian was better last season, Coleman the seasons before that. Basically, both are pretty much at the same level.

Except Darmian is a fair bit cheaper and easier to get. Makes it a no brainer really.

Talent is one thing - having the mentality to make use of that talent is another - and Shaw does not convince me and don't tell me he's only 19. At 19/20 you could see the huge ambition and confidence Ronaldo had already along with his talent which Shaw does not have and may never have.

And Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all time, now what about the *thousands* of players who ended up being top quality players who at 19 could have gone either way?

It's pretty visible on the lower abdominals. It's a 4 pac. Not to take into account he is using down lighting in the photo which helps a hell of a lot with definition.

Nah, that isn't visible body fat. He's in good shape, and the fat discussion is as much mythical as it is tedious.

I just googled Luke Shaw topless, to try and find a better picture.

Note to anyone, don't google that sentence. Just don't do it. :nervous:
