This transfer is so unlikely to happen even the Caf can't be arsed with the rumor. 8 pages, pffft.

Lord knows how we're 'most confident' with this one.

Would be kind of funny if this one snuck in under the radar without a huge muppet thread.

no muppet mode? Dortmund is already lining up to buy Ginter as replacement.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Do you think he'll be a starter next season? Perhaps as a DM, seeing as Ilkay is now a perma-crock. Or does Bender offer virtually same thing?

Gundogan was like Modric at Madrid, he sits deep and helps move the ball up the field while Alonson does all the work. Gundogan = Modrid, Bender = Alonson, obviously not comparing their abilities, just their roles.

Mats is Stam spelt backwards

Sign him up I'd say

Wouldn't be all that surprised with this one. He's far more likely than Reus or any of the Bayern player's we've been chasing thats for sure.

If we're out there looking for a good experienced center back, I'm sure Hummels would be one of our best options and why not? I don't think we'll find it easy to persuade both him and Dortmund although Dortmund might be willing to sell if the money is right. Convincing him on the other hand will be a much more difficult task.

I always loved how he's so confident on the ball, the perfect replacement for Rio. We must get someone of his caliber to lead our back 4 or else we're in trouble with what we have.

Gotze
Lewandowski
Hummels
Reus (next year)

Losing their best players every year. In fact, the year before Gotze didn't Sahin leave as well?
Who else needs a CB apart from us?

Outside of our league Barca, Madrid and Bayern. I can't see Dortmund giving Bayern another of their top players, also Hummels was a Bayern reject from their youth system. Madrid need a back up more so but Barca on the other hand need a ball playing CB, a Hummels if you will. City could do with a back up as could Chelsea.

With Bayern linked with Garay surely it'd just me us and Barca in for Hummels?

Solid logic - I like it.

Jaap Stam would be worth a fortune now. Close to being the best defender I've ever seen in his prime.

I'd be shocked if we signed him given his comments about Dortmund but hey, never say never

Hummels said the only club he'd sign for is Barcelona.....even if we did go in for him he'll reject us and stay in Germany.

Won't City be in for a CB too? Lescott is garbage and Demichelis is a short term stopgap at best. Nastasic looks decent but has missed an entire season. Kompany is mostly very good, but he has lapses of being a bit mental.

Liverpool's defence was ropey last season too. Surely they'll be looking for centre backs?

And Chelsea have sold David Luiz, so are just down to Cahill and Terry in the first team. They are being linked with Varane, but they could stick their oar in if Hummels is actually available.

Chelsea just spent over £30m on Costa and looks like they will do the same with Cesc. Even though they sold Luiz for £40m odd. They are also going for Felipe Luis. City really have to worry about FFP. Their turnover hasn't been good these past two seasons and they have reported huge losses.

They also got 37m for Mata along with a decent price for De Bruyne can't remember the exact number but in total they've recouped around 100m for 3 players who weren't first X1 regulars which is great business.

Pretty sure that Hummels quote was when he was linked back with Bayern around the time Goetze / Lewandowski left.

Either way I still see it as unlikely.

So, out of curiosity, what's the deal with Hummels in terms of injuries? Is he still plagued with them or have they cleared up a bit?
