Mathys Tel | talks with Bayern back on?

Not massively bothered about this guy specifically, but we certainly need a short term attacker asap. We’re letting two go in the same window and as of right now it looks like without replacement at all.

I'm fine with walking away if it's because Bayern want an obligation to buy. They're clearly keen sellers and probably won't give him enough game time. Shouldn't be boxed into a buy if he doesn't translate.

Good, we are not letting our desperation push into an obligation clause.

If Bayern were insistent on an obligation then walking away is absolutely the correct thing to do here. We can't operate like we have been over the past decade where teams can demand whatever they fecking like of us and we agree to it every time.

Presumably we can't agree since we'd be then in a position where we absolutely have to sell a player in the summer and the Rashford deal is optional so can't be relied upon
If it happens in July then the amortised position will have improved and we'd be in a different PSR window.

That said, we will be wanting to sign at least one player from sporting and that won't be cheap. Tel was always a punt - never heard of him before this week. We shouldn't be changing our summer planning based on an adhoc January loan unless the control is our side and he proves himself.

Player and seemingly club (obligation to buy) want out, he wants us, I could see this resurrecting

Cherry on top today. Again we’d be depending on an unproven young player to save us, but to ship out Rashford and Antony and not bring in a single attacker is scandalous.

Not too fussed with this. Obligation to buy should raise alarm bells in that Bayern were willing to let him go.

Lad is a work in progress and maybe we're better off holding out for the summer to get a more experienced no9.

I don’t understand why Bayern would insist on an obligation to buy for a 19 year old? That’s a red flag if ever there was one.

Oh no the team that are top of the German league, the highest scorers in the league and have Kane scoring goals every week and top of the goalscoring charts were willing to let him go

I'm not sure he would have been the right signing, but that comment doesnt make any sense. Of course players who arent good enough for the top team in Germany are good enough to improve us

Respect to Bayern on insisting on obligation to buy. Option to buy is rubbish for selling club. We should learn a thing or two here.

But, of course it is easy to hold your ground when you are not desperate.

Rumors say Bayern wanted loan with obligation for 60M as that's the fee agreed with Spurs.

As desperate as we are for goals spending 60M on Tel is not the smartest choice. We've done good to walk away if that's the case.

Now we’re desperate so it’s Nkunku or Bailey on loan. You just have to laugh now, it’s all only going to continue being a miserable season.

Bailey.

It's so depressing. Villa don't even play him in their first team, but oh, he'd be perfect securing this mid-table club a top 10 finish.

Aren't we supposed to have scouting departments so we don't go for the likes of Bailey.

Not bothered if he doesn't come in to be honest but we need someone else. Genuinely think any journeyman striker who could cause dramas for a defence would improve us. You could do striker roulette for any top half team in any of the top 5 leagues in Europe and they would be an improvement.

Good decision if it is the case that we didn't agree to any obligation for the summer. We are in no position to take expensive punts.
