Mathys Tel | talks with Bayern back on?

I think we need to make our own luck and start tossing Chido Obi into the mix in games. Literally can't be more ineffective than what we have and could end up saving us 60/70mn if he's even close in quality to his former academy mates Nwaneri and Lewis-Kelly. Can't just keep watching this golden academy generation win everything around them (bar against City today) and not begin rewarding some of the standouts.
He really isn’t ready for first team. It’d be a deer in headlights moment.

The potential is more than there but ease him in. Maybe five minutes end of the season to experience match day.

Don’t comeback without this deal done. We can’t afford to let this team suffer over obligations to buy. If you don’t want a 19 year old permanently why go for him.

It looks like we only want a straight 6 month loan to benefit our squad the rest of the season, we want Tel or Nkunku without paying for their transfer fee or have a obligation to buy them.

Probably because we have plans to sign Gyokeres in the summer for the striker position.

The only way we'd have the obligation to buy included for Tel would be if he's going to play as a number 10 in the system and is not affected by signing Gyokeres or another striker in the summer.
Exactly this. He may play 9 from time to time, however that's not the primary reason for signing him.

Nah, at this stage its madness to continue as is and expecting different results. No doubt, it would be a huge step up physically but I'm confident that he could get more shots off than Hojlund and be more of a box threat than Zirkzee. He's got very good link up play and I just can't be convinced anymore that he wouldn't get on more chances than the other two. If the Hoj/Zirkzee literally did the bare minimum production wise, there would be an argument there but there's nothing coming from either of them. All I'm asking for is 20mins for Chido.

Yeah just give Obi-Martin a go, let's face it we aren't making an attacking signing in next 24 hours

One of the reasons I'm not that keen on us getting him.. we need a CF that's in his prime or near his prime. Not even more CFs with potential that might turn into a great attacker/CF.
Those are not on the market in January unless you overpay.

It’s a bit harsh on Tel to be honest. He’s played ~450 minutes. About the equivalent of 5 matches.
Think the main point is that United don't have a rich pool of options and we shouldn't be betting a large chunk of our summer budget on the equivalent of a fourth down hail mary play.

I am really tired of this club signing either promising young strikers with potential or over the hill, old, stop gap strikers.

For once, can the club just sign a ready made striker.

I think we should stick to our guns. Bayern can win on this loan either way. Tel gets much needed minutes in a very competitive league and if it works out, we probably fork out the money. If not, someone else might do it, or he comes back to them with some new experiences gained.

It says a lot about the striker market if Tel is seen as a hot commodity by clubs. There’s a huge deficit of proven quality for that position and there’s a number of clubs who you could say need one, but are doing well regardless.

There’s like 7-8 proven top strikers and then after that you’re essentially taking a punt on them translating that form to a higher level. Gyökeres is the player I’d say is top of that particular pile.

None, but maybe don't sign a youngster with 0 goals this season, because he is not going to sort out the current striker issue.

Not looking to good tbh. I thought last season was rough, but this one is really painful.

Maybe Chido Obi Martin should get some minutes here and there.

Why do we not try for Evan Ferguson on loan? He can’t a game at Brighton but is a good player.

Or if we want cover on the wings then Maeda or Kuhn at Celtic

Haha at least last season ended with an FA Cup. This one may end with a relegation.

I think we will take enough points to avoid that, but it’s not looking good at all. The main problem is actually scoring goals. Everyone talked about it in the summer/pre season, but here we are.

No dough.

Spent it all on Mount. Most ridiculous thing I can ever remember… and I go back a loooong way

I can only think the best way out of this is to give one of the young strikers, chomping at the bit, to have a go. We don’t have
to flog him to death, just give him a go. Clearly not spending in this window. It just might help a bit and show us where he is in his development

Manchester United = no money. Let that sink in. Wealthiest club in the world, fecking unbelievable. Glazers and everyone else who aided them.

Ruben: "How many goals do you have lately, Rasmus?"
Hojlund: ".....none........"
Ruben: "How about you, Joshua? Even one?"
Zirkzee: "none too...."
Ruben: "Obi, I know you're not ready, but the bar is so low. Literally just one goal. You think you can do it?"
Obi-Martin: "That's easy"
Ruben: "Obviously not" *glares at Hojlund and Zirkzee*
