Rash is off the books, hopefully we get Tel in now. Feels like he can play across the forward line.

He looks like a project player rather than an established player, but if he gets here it means he'll be an attacking option which we will need due to the departures of Antony and Rashford

I’ve only seen clips of him and watched him when he played us, but he does look like a selfish player. I can imagine him getting similar treatment to Garnacho to improve decision making.

Even with arsenal's injury to saka and Jesus, you'd still imagine he's gonna get more minutes at United with Rashford gone and our very young and blunt attack.

Slightly in two minds over this loan signing.

On the one hand, we are definitely short of goals and an attacking player theoretically contributes to goals.

On the other hand - it looks like he is looking for short term playing time vs a path to a permanent move. Is the playing time then more beneficial for Garnacho, Zirkzee etc then a player who will only spend 5 months with us.

Offocurse, there is a possibility that he starts banking goals by the bucketful and becomes our number 9 for the future. But that is little more of a blue sky scenario.

Although he is not a pure No9, he cant do worse than Rasmus and Zirkzee. He has pace and a good shot on him.

His attributes looks better than Rashford and Gernacho combined.

Does he play striker (No 9 ) as well ? some fans seem to think so
I thought hes a left winger only.
can someone confirm please.
He was signed as a striker by Bayern, but rarely got to play there as Lewandowski and Kane are always available. So he got time on the wing. I don't think it is really decided where he will end up

This would be exciting. Hope it happens now most of Rashfords wage is off the books
Yeah I was thinking whether Villa would pick up his wages. A minimum of 75% apparently - that’s £225,000 saved per week. Tel on about £80,000 a week.

Could save easily nearly £150,000 a week and have a player who actually wants to be here.

Win win in my book.

Naturally, watch Rashford absolutely rip it up at Villa and find a once in a generation form.

The noise coming out of Germany is that he wants game time, this should be good for us as he'll have a real chance to prove his worth and become a starter for us. Arsenal are going for the title and trying to integrate a new player would be hard for them, Arteta already has his favourites. Furthermore, we've taken two young lads from Arsenal recently mainly due to their concerns around a poor path to the first team.

Think I would feel better about this potential deal IF we already had someone banging in the goals and were just looking to add something different

To be honest its Jan and we need to plan long term. We get to try before we buy with a high potential talent who has UCL experience.

As would I but he could replace two players that are contributing zero with a lad that has a chance. It's January and there isn't a proven goal scorer available, by the looks of it. The good thing about a loan is that we can send him back if it doesn't work out.

If there’s a buy option in this, I can’t see how there can be any negativity. With Rashford’s loan easily covering this, it’s a no brainer.

Wages aside, it puts us in the same boat as Villa. Reasonable buy option, that if he tears it up it’s a bargain, yet if underwhelming they/we walk away.

Especially with him reportedly wanting more game time, I really can’t see how a loan with option isn’t a great solution for all parties involved in the deal.

Loan with an option is perfect. I would be quite concerned if we jumped in with a permanent transfer now, but 6 months loan with no obligation gives Tel the motivation to impress and earn the transfer.

If I'm not mistaken, Amorim started Rashford as the 9 in his first match. He doesn't seem to be against playing a striker with that profile, and surely more so now as our strikers have been underwhelming.
I'd take a guess he gets his chance as the 9 first, which is probably something that appeals to him too. IF it doesn't work out, no doubt Amorim will be as decisive as he was with Rashford if need be. That project lasted.. 60 minutes I think. Thankfully, Tel does not lack at all in work rate and especially, intensity. I'd like to see what he can do as the 9.

Thought we should have at least seen if we could have persuaded Osimhen to come here on loan until the summer, other thought was a cheap deal for David who is free agent at the end of the season.

Watched Pythagoras in Boots' video that he did a couple of weeks ago.

Doesn't really fill me with excitement but he can definitely strike a ball well, and we need to bring in someone at least.

Can you see him doing well for us? @Pythagoras

EDIT: I tried to tag Raees but it wouldn't work, so I assumed he'd been made to change his username to @Pythagoras to be more transparent?

All good for a loan as there is near to zero risk, but i don’t really like the idea of developing a player for Bayern and then returning him back six months later

Uh Oh.

We have the option to buy him if that is the case though. It feels like the game is not producing number 9s anymore so if we're to avoid spending 100mn on some big lump that wouldn't be world class in any other era, we're probably going to have to develop our own. Tel, in fairness, has the pedigree. He's tall, fast, can shoot and head. By all accounts he's a good trainer and super motivated. We know he'll get game time if he can do the bare minumum so there's a massive opportunity for him to spearhead a new era at United. All the motivations and incentives are there for him and he's clearly not a mercenary as he's turning down bigger clubs and potentially salaries to get better chances at playtime.

Osimhen would be a great player for us but it would have been difficult with him already being out on loan. David has already stated that he wants to wait until the summer.

I particularly like how the video claims he doesn't have chips and volleys to his shot variation, as though these are done purely at will of the striker without consideration of which type of shot works best from a particular position.

Suppose anyone can get credibility these days

On topic, his striking technique is actually very impressive. Don't think we have a player with that type of ability.

Him asking for £200 per Redcafe post didn’t go down too well with Redcafe mods—talks failed, and he ended up banned.

Ahh ok wow. Without wanting to derail the thread... I don't really understand - he wanted to be paid £200 every time he posted on here?
