I can see why people are hesitant, given our need for a player who can lead the line today, as opposed to tomorrow. Yet, we need to start the long term work of building a competitive side, which means signing best young players around now, as opposed for 3 to 5 times as much in 2-3 years time. Tel, Dorgu, Yoro, Quenda, Heaven these are exactly the type of signings that can take us back to the top and have us competing there for a while. Allied to our own young players in Amad, Garnacho, Mainoo, and Collyer, plus prospects coming through like Kone, Kukonki, Chido-Obi, Leon......we can potentially have a young squad brimming with talent and potential. That has to be married to sufficient experience and leadership, but in Martinez, Fernandes, Ugarte, and De Ligt, you have a core of determined, hardworking leaders. We will need to add to that core in the summer, by bringing in at least a couple more players with a bit more experience (say in the 23-26 age range), but in terms of rebuilding the squad in an affordable way, and creating something greater than the sum of its parts, I endorse this general pursuit of the best young players.

Tel is certainly one of the best young talents in the world. Still has a lot to develop, but I would much rather see us tie up a deal for him now than see him go elsewhere. Players of his potential don't come on the market that often. He's got a great all round game, works hard, technically superb, a natural finisher, and bags of acceleration and pace. He'd be a brilliant replacement for Rashford.

Good post, my only qualm is we have a lot of potential and we need experience around them to have it realized. We have it in some areas of the pitch but not at all in the forward department.

I'm OK with Tel though, its opportunistic and he's not a bad player it seems. In the summer we need established quality up top though.

well we aren't going to bid it would appear and a loan is the only option so he'll be staying at Munich

Lad was itching to leave till Spurs were mentioned, and he suddenly loves Bayern again.
Think he'll be off if either we or Arsenal send in a loan request before the deadline. His playing time situation still hasn't changed under Kompany

A loan elsewhere to play regularly for the next 3-4 months then reasses his options in the summer would be his best option right now professionally speaking

Piecing together these reports, it reads very much like he rejected Spurs because they were offering to buy immediately and he doesn't want to leave on a permanent deal in January. He'd rather either remain at Bayern for the remainder of the season or go out on loan - either way, he can reassess his options in the summer (keeps alive the option of potentially remaining at Bayern into next season).

Berrada told the staff that the aim is to win the Premier League title in 2028, and it looks like we're actively buying young talent for exactly that.

Hopefully he brings the best out of Zirkzee who can bring the best out of Hojlund who can get the best out of Obi Martins who can get the best out of ...

Just get it done. An exciting forward. Add him with Garnacho and Amad. Fans will be of their seats.

Seen a few people ask but no answer yet. What’s his natural position?

Only tough part is that “established quality” in attacking spots is so fecking expensive these days. You’re either overpaying for someone that’s a bit too old, or buying a player that’s “good” but still unrefined completely and doesn’t guarantee a success. Isak is the only one that comes to mind for me as being a nailed on top transfer for a big fee (also why he’s my dream signing), but so many others are either like Cunha (who’s overall game is great but certainly isn’t a bagsman at this point), or Osimhen (who’s probably going to add guaranteed goals but is going to cost more than he’s worth and still has clear flaws).

Top attackers just feel unbuyable unless you’re already a top team willing to blow an entire summer budget (like Arsenal potentially this summer) to bring in someone to take you over the top

Tel looks v good on YouTube!

Who knows how good he would be in the PL but I like his turn of pace and also that he seems to be able to finish just as well with both feet. Would be a nice change from Antony!
