Mata | Mourinho says it's just a Mata of time

I think Sky are right about the fee and BBC aren't. Guardian reported that we've agreed a provisional 40 million deal with Chelsea for Mata (also saying that a bid is imminent)and with Sky's report of an official 40 million bid it's just logical. Maybe that's wishful thinking a bit but MAYBE there won't be dramas this time.

Woodward: You didn't think I meant pounds, did you?

What happens if they reject the bid?
Seriously though. If 40m is the figure they would be mental to turn down a £15m profit on a player they don't want, in terms of FFP if nothing else.

Sky Sports say this third party shit is nothing to worry about and is pretty normal apparently?

He's played 12 or 13 games and he's made 30 chances. Compared with Valencia, our top chance creator who also plays nearly every game, on 19, its like night and day. Will be a real good signing if we can get him in and clicking with the lads.

Racist.

Reminds me of the 'imposters' who were involved in the Herrera deal...

So let me get this straight...Chelsea would not loan us Ryan Bertrand but are prepared to sell one of the best players in the Prem to a direct rival?

Ok, gotcha.

I do wonder though why Mourinho is ok with selling to us.

Bearing in mind that that is this season, a season where he has been on the fringes. His stats for the two previous seasons are crazy.

It's not just the chances he creates, but the goals too. Plus, he's good in the big games. Plus, he's a nice lad - which is always nice.

If the club have hired experts to deal in this transfer then that's good. I wouldn't have trusted Woodward to knock a wank out never mind a deal.

He gave them Victor Moses and they haven't used him (justifiably so, cause he's shit..). It's pretty clear though that this is for different reasons. He'd be concerned about Bertrand getting game time in the same way.

Jose said in the summer how he is willing to sell to rivals, how it's done often in other leagues and you shouldn't be scared to do it. He did it with Gallas remember. In the short term, he doesn't see us competing with them anyway. 40m is a huge amount of money.

Plus, it feeds his ego of him being brave, taking risks and not being a coward.

Yeah if I owned a $2billion business and was just about to make a 40m investment, I think I'd have specialists handling it. I cant believe fans think clubs trade in tens of millions based on nothing but two execs having a chat.

To speculate completely what this looks like to me is that agreement has been reached in principal and now the finer details have to be worked out. Again, its seldom like buying a car where you turn up with a cheque and drive away in a shiny new motors.

With deals of this size, both in terms of capital investment and operating expenses (bonus', wages, add on's etc), I'd imagine you end up with a table of accountants sat round trying to make it work. Thats why you usually never hear much from clubs about these mega deals until they're all but done.

Lack of other bidders. I can only imagine there wouldn't be too many teams willing to shell out 40m for him.

As for not doing business with Pool, I always get the impression Jose hates them almost as much as we do.

Wait, so you are saying Moyes doesn't actually send an e-mail saying "£40m for Mata? Lol."?

:(

(What you've said does actually make sense though.)

The weird thing is that if this is the norm why is it being reported differently to any other deal?
