They'd lose him for over £10 million less in the summer. They'd be moronic to turn down a £40 million bid in my opinion, they need that fee to go towards a striker with Financial Fair Play in place.

I think Sky are right about the fee and BBC aren't. Guardian reported that we've agreed a provisional 40 million deal with Chelsea for Mata (also saying that a bid is imminent)and with Sky's report of an official 40 million bid it's just logical. Maybe that's wishful thinking a bit but MAYBE there won't be dramas this time.

For FFP it would be great for them but if they can get a swap in the summer with Costa for Mata they'd prefer that easy.

They say 35 million right? I prefer that valuation more. But what bugs me, if true about a rejection, is that everyone was saying a fee had been agreed by both and just waiting for a bid. Did we just decide to say no to the 'agreed fee' and bid a lower for shits and giggles?
