Mata | Mourinho says it's just a Mata of time

Ain't happening. We have no confirmation that Mata actually wants to leave, or that Mourinho sees him as surplus to requirements.

Yeah like we'd get that anyway. The Rooney saga has dragged on for far longer with no confirmation from Rooney that he actually wants to leave, or that he wants to stay. Or that Moyes sees him as surplus to requirements.

Might be controversial, but I think it's becoming clearer by the game that Hazard is fast becoming the best player Chelsea have, even superior to Mata.
I don't agree with that, but it's not so much a criticism of Hazard, I just think Mata is an extraordinary player. His productivity is impressive and he has an ability to shine in the biggest games which is a huge factor for me. Also, he seems to be able to cope no problem with the physicality of a campaign the whole way through and is the pulse of a team.

As good as Hazard is, I don't think he'll ever have that kind of impact/influence. But as others have said, there's place for both of them in that team. No idea why José didn't play the Spaniard yesterday.

Bizarre line up from Chelsea last night. Jose's making It clear he prefers Oscar and Hazard with their greater pace and urgency.

We do though, Rooney said he wants to leave and Moyes said he'd have to wait for RvP to get tired or injured to play. If the latter is exercised or not, I'd be pretty pissed hearing that if I was Rooney given everything he's done for the club.

i'm baffled by the treatment of him. he's been chelseas best player for the past 2 seasons, has not shown any kind of dissent or bad attitude and yet he's sat on their bench. for all the promise of oscar and hazard they dont come near his output numbers yet and i'd go so far as to say leaving him out is somewhat blunting their attack. If he's in red last night utd win the game, if he's in blue chelsea may well have done too even with no striker ahead of him. he's a brilliant link up man, the best in the country, its all very bizarre

Thats not what Moyes actually said. I am amazed at how many people can not understand the point Moyes was making and how many people only grab part of the quote.

They're both superb - and yes, I agree, they can play together.

I think Hazard was probably Chelsea's best player this evening(yes, not saying much) just for his work-rate and passing ability. Still the one player I'm gutted they signed.

Mata is superb, one of the best players in the league. But if Hazard fulfils his potential he could possibly reach the Ronaldo/Henry level of greatness in the PL. As you've said he's got all teh tools at his disposal, just needs to increase productivity and be more consistent.

Hazard is overrated. And he won't come close to ronaldo's level even if he fulfills his potential.

We have a strong indication that Mourinho doesn't see him as first choice, and it would be pretty unsurprising if Mata didn't want to hang around on the bench in a world cup year.

That said, In can't see him going anywhere.

Benched or not he's not making it into Spain's first team anyway I guess.

He isn't available or surplus to requirements... because if he were, Chelsea would almost certainly have offered him to us in exchanged for Rooney by now, and that would in-turn mean we have refused such an offer, and this makes me a saaaad panda.

Therefore, it's better (and correct) to assume he isn't available and is going nowhere.

Jose isn't stupid people. Even if he does hate Spanish people, there's no way he would let one of the top 3 players in England leave.

Well he is. Bale is gone so it's RVP, Suarez and Mata.

Who else come close? Rooney maybe.

Where would you put Mata? He is absolutely brilliant. I take it you don't watch Chelsea much.

Aguero is very close as well but he was very quiet last season by his standards so I have Mata over him.

Very good player.

Quite a few players better than him though. Hazard and Ramirez at Chelsea for a start.
