Mata | Mourinho says it's just a Mata of time

Yep, pissed off sounds about right.

I understand different managers prefer different styles of player but I think Mata is good enough to play for pretty much anyone.

He is and by the sounds of it you'll probably flog him off cheap as well. Which is mental, like proper fecking mental.

So has anyone not asked Mourinho about Mata? Seems a bit of an obvious question to ask?

I think as a Chelsea fan I'd think Mourinho is a right nutter if he doesnt want to play Mata.

The positive side of the coin is that even if Mata left, you'd definitely have quality players to replace him with even if they arent as good

Of course he is good enough, he would make the starting XI for the top four team. If it is true, then it is a questionable decision made by Mourinho.

I was thinking that - Jose is stirring with Rooney, but no hack interested in asking about the "other " great transfer issue?

There are only 3 reasons I can logically think of:
a) Mata's best mates with Casillas
b) Jose wants to "stamp" his authority on & send a message to the squad & no matter how good Mata is, he wasn't Jose's signing. If he's willing to dispose of their best player, anyone's dispensable (except Terry, Cole & Lampard of course )
c) Mata's shagged Jose's wife

Other than that, I have no blimmin clue.

It was nice for once to see United playing our obvious best line-up and the other team inexplicably leaving out one of their best players.

If there's any chance, we should be onto this guy. He'd be brilliant for us.

Mata leaving or rumours surrounding it wont sell any papers.

Chelsea's best player for the last two seasons rumoured to be on the way out as the modern day Jesus Christ wants him gone? Surely that would shift a paper or two, particularly if the media can turn it into another transfer saga?

If he had a defence as strong as he did the last time he was at Chelsea, then Mourinho would play Mata IMO. Currently I think he knows he doesn't and to compensate for it he must leave out the brilliant, yet least defensively sound midfielder in Mata.

But he essentially left him out for De Bruyne, who is a more purely attacking player and contributed little to nothing defensively. I don't think that can have been the reason, personally.

Might be controversial, but I think it's becoming clearer by the game that Hazard is fast becoming the best player Chelsea have, even superior to Mata.

Hardly controversial. It's true.

If, or when, he maintains consistency he'll be the attacking talent of the league. He has the potential.

Not for me. I'd have Mata's genius ability every time. Hazard is quicker but I'm not sure what else he's better at than Mata.

I'd be seriously bemused as a Chelsea fan tonight watching that. Their most creative asset and best player by a distance last season sat on the bench and not even being given 10 minutes to make a difference at the end. Is he not fit or something?

Mourinho claims he wasn't fully fit.

I think Hazard is about six months behind Mata, at the moment, in the sense that I suspect it'll take him that long to get to his level. Hazard has everything - great feet, great pace, desire, great trickery and a great shot on him. He's got the higher ceiling.

You missed pace, power and determination, Al Hansen.

He has fantastic potential but again did little tonight. There's room for both him and Mata in this Chelsea side so I don't think Hazard's emergence should see Mata being phased out.

They're both superb - and yes, I agree, they can play together.

I think Hazard was probably Chelsea's best player this evening(yes, not saying much) just for his work-rate and passing ability. Still the one player I'm gutted they signed.
