Mata | Mourinho says it's just a Mata of time

The tone of these articles is quite explicit. Utd and Chelsea locked in talks, should be done by tuesday. Not like the usual United want Mata, a source said cor wouldnt that be something?

Now wait for IndyKaila to report Rooney to Madrid as an exclusive.

I don't want us losing Rooney at all, and i'd hate it twice as much if he went to Madrid.

The most telling thing is that Chelsea have never come out and said hands off to us. Just hope we know what we are doing this time. We were told there was "encouragement" from Cesc's camp in the summer and it didn't stop us making fools of ourselves.

That's what I was thinking. It's being reported like it's simply a matter of time, which is comforting.

Juan Mata move to Manchester United on hold as Atletico Madrid tempt Moyes with Filipe Luis and Diego Costa
Atletico Madrid are ready to offer striker Diego Costa and defender Filipe Luis to David Moyes if Manchester United drop their attempt to sign Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata
Atlético Madrid are hoping to hijack Manchester United's attempts to sign Juan Mata by offering David Moyes first option on striker Diego Costa and Brazilian full-back Filipe Luis if he withdraws from the race for the Chelseamidfielder.

United have been given encouragement that a £37 million bid for Mata will be accepted by Chelsea, despite Jose Mourinho's preference for the Spain midfielder to remain at Stamford Bridge.

However, with Atlético determined to bolster their push for the Spanish title by adding Mata to Diego Simeone's squad, the Madrid outfit are prepared to hand United the chance to secure options on Costa and Luis, the £18 million-rated left-back who has been repeatedly scouted by Moyes's staff in recent weeks.

Although no bid had been lodged by United as of Tuesday night, Chelsea were expecting an imminent formal offer from Old Trafford for Mata, with intermediaries hopeful of a breakthrough in negotiations for the 25-year-old player.

However, with United manager Moyes determined to add a top-class left-back to his squad this month, the Premier League champions could be receptive to an agreement with Atlético if it paved the way for a deal for Luis.
Costa, second only to Cristiano Ronaldo in the La Liga scoring charts this season with 19 goals, has also been monitored by United, but the Brazil-born forward is understood not to be a priority target.

While Mata is keen to move to Old Trafford, the prospect of a return to Spain in the build-up to the World Cup finals this summer is also appealing to the former Valencia player.

With United identifying a left-back and central midfielder as their twin priorities during the January transfer window, the prospect of securing the 28-year-old Luis could prompt Moyes to alter his course on Mata.

Although the former Deportivo La Coruña defender was out of action when Moyes attended Atlético's Champions League clash against Porto last month, the Scot has since sent first-team coach Phil Neville and United scouts to monitor the full-back.

Moyes has ruled out a move for Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao and has abandoned efforts to sign Everton's Leighton Baines, while the Southampton teenager Luke Shaw is deemed to be too expensive at his £30 million valuation.

With Chelsea monitoring Costa as a potential solution to their search for a centre-forward, a deal with Atlético could also appeal to Mourinho, whose long-term interest in Costa could be used as leverage in any agreement to offload Mata to the Vicente Calderon on loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

With United insisting that Wayne Rooney will not be sold to Chelsea, Costa has emerged as a proven alternative for Chelsea.

Mourinho, meanwhile, is prepared to allow Mata to move to United, but the Stamford Bridge manager wants the player personally to tell him that he wants to go to Old Trafford before sanctioning any transfer.

The final decision on whether to sell Mata is being left to Mourinho and the Portuguese insists that he will only act once the player has approached him.

Atlético want to take Mata on loan with an option to buy the 25-year-old at the end of the season and sending the player back to Spain would be preferable to Mourinho, particularly if Chelsea can secure first option on Costa in return.

There's also only 10 days able to be wasted on this, rather than the month or two we spent oggling Fabregas whilst he looked the other way awkwardly.

Mirror now saying united officials confirmed to them that they want to sign him... didn't this shitbag of a paper just yesterday tried to be special and claim that these same officials told them it is BS?

Cocknoses

Would be hilarious if Moyes is going to dither again, first option on two players from atletico madrid(meaning feck all if they set the price at 40 milliom each). lawl.

Would be a lovely signing (though I can't see it personally) however it still won't address our issues in midfield.

Telegraph

I don't wanna hear this. If Moyes and Woody dilly dally over getting Mata and we end up not buying him...after Herrera it can't happen again. That would be unacceptable.

This is going to turn out to be one massive Mourinho wum.

Yup. He'll reel us all the way in and then pull out at the last minute saying some shit about not wanting to sell to a team in the Premier League. Then say, with a massive fecking grin, "it's a shame our deal for Rooney didn't work out in the Summer, isn't it David?"

We would be dumb not to try Chelsea for this guy.. WC next summer Mata want´s in! Get it done...

"This Edward, he is retard, no? Such imbecile."
"Aye, Roman. Disregard anything he says."

Waiting for the inevitable £25million offer.
Then 6 days later, we'll phone up saying "Just to let you know we are offering £25 million. That's our official offer. So if there was any doubt, we are indeed offering that amount of money. Just to confirm like.

Please, please say this is true.

He could give the entire squad a boost that could get is that vital 4th place.

Him, two CMs and an LB - if they are all top calibre - will make us competitive again.

Surely it would be much better if he went there than Chelsea.

But I'm with you, I don't at all want to lose Rooney.

Anywhere but Real.

If he does go there, we can safely call ourselves there feeder club and expect DDG and Januzaj if he turns out to be good enough to join them one day too!

It's True!

Sky said:
Talks between Manchester United and Chelsea over the transfer of Juan Mata are going well, Sky Sports understands.

Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague says all parties, including Mata, want the deal to happen.

The attacking midfielder - a £23.5m signing from Valencia in 2011 - has found first-team opportunities limited under Jose Mourinho this season, playing 90 minutes on just three occasions.

And Balague revealed on Revista de La Liga: "Manchester United and Chelsea are negotiating the future of Juan Mata - and the idea is that Mata, who Chelsea are happy to let go, goes to Old Trafford in this transfer window.

"Chelsea are asking for £32 million or with Wayne Rooney as part of the deal. Manchester United have said no to the money and no to Rooney - but I am under the impression that a deal will be reached because it benefits everybody.

"Manchester United need quality, Mata needs to get out of the situation he is in, and it would reinforce United for their meetings with (Chelsea's title rivals) Manchester City and Arsenal, which is clever from Jose Mourinho."

Sky sources reported that talks between the two rivals are "progressing well' which came after we learnt that Chelsea wanted in excess of£35million for the diminutive midfielder.[\quote]
I always find it hard to take these stories when those reporting them also run a bookies and offer odds.
