Mason Mount's Many Misfortunes (please don't make another waste of money post)

Feel sorry for him. He's still only 25, but these injuries are really derailing his career.

Has to be our worst transfer right?

Seems like a sound lad, but feck me

Felt really bad watching that, hope he could make a comeback physically, so young for it to be over so soon.

Conversely — Chelsea’s best ever sale? Won then the CL as a player, sold for pure profit with 1 year left on the contract, became a crocked dud for a rival, and funded the Cole Palmer move…

Actually feel very bad for him now. I honestly think he’d do well under Amorim but unfortunately he’s a sick note and I doubt we’ll ever see the best of him.

This is the thing though. No other club is daft enough to buy a player that never plays.

He is still young enough and English.
However, he is on 250k a week, that is the issue. If he was on 150k, we would find a midtable side offering us a decent fee.

Hoped and thought he was ready to kick on. Gutted for him, can’t be many things worse for a professional athlete than a body that just keeps giving up.

Nightmare for the lad. You do wonder if the Chelsea medics knew something our equivalents didn’t see.

How do you deal with players who are so injury prone? I doubt any club wants him with this injury record.
See how things develop during the rest of his contract, and don't give him a new one if he hasn't proven he can stay fit. Can't be giving players the Phil Jones treatment anymore.

Like every single big signing United have made post-SAF.

I genuinely think he could have been a great player for us if he weren't made of paper.

You just get the feeling that sadly his body isn't up to top level football anymore.

A particular worry given so much of what he offers is tied to what he does off the ball. Some of that is about intelligence, but a lot of it is about being able to apply high level physicality.

Even if he could stay fit, if he can't also move and press with the same intensity then he offers way less as a footballer.

This is up there with some greek tragedy. Was such a skillful player whose body has betrayed him. I truly wish him a speedy recovery and good health post career.

Despite his injury record over the past two and a half seasons he's not quite at Reece James level of injury proneness yet. I think the big problem is a lot of what he offers is related to pressing off the ball which requires good physicality and fitness... which he doesn't have right now. For the sake of his career he might need to completely change his play style. Won't be good to us as I guess a large part of why we signed him was for his pressing but he's no good to us in he physios room either.

This is a fantasy. He can't run without getting injured. This was the first quarter of an hour of the match. You can change your play style as much as you like, if you can't run, you can't play Premier League football.

Should've just cut our losses after the first season, but with our transfer flops everyone always wants to hang on for another season with the remote hope that eventually they'll come good. By the time the club is ready to sell, the market value has tanked and nobody wants to buy.

I turned the match on late and the first bit of commentary I heard was them saying that it's unfortunate for him (not actually mentioning mount by name) and followed it by saying its his 7th injury since joining and straight away I knew it was mount they was talking about.

Chelsea laughing all the way to the bank, they clearly knew behind the scene he was crocked and wanted to move him on
