Mason Mount's Many Misfortunes (please don't make another waste of money post)

Never rated him before coming here. We bought him and i convinced myself that he had to be a great signing.

Guess my initial feeling about him was right. But hey im not a scout, that is why we pay people at the club to identify players..:annoyed:

He's one of those players managers love but fans typically just don't see it (Jesse Lingard was similar in that regard). It's interesting that even Amorim has been hailing Mount's high technicality, and yet, the drop off in creativity from Bruno to him feels rather stark.

To be fair we've not seen enough to know for sure, but Bruno creates a lot, if anything for better or worse he spams chances. So yeah there probably will be quite the drop off.

I just want to see Mount get a fair shake at it and if he fails his audition he can be punted out to play for Leicester or someone like that.

We may as well have just brought lingard back for free to do exactly what mount has done and he probably would have spent less time out of the physio room

But atleast Mount doesn't do any funny dances or handshakes.

To be honest, apart from running around, I don't see much point in Mount, I remember reading/hearing even a keeper had better XG than him.

I could understand Klopp going for him, he probably saw a less silky but more pressy Lallana.

You on the other hand shouldn't have been so stupid.

Could also have kept Sabitzer basically, offers similar.

When Mount gets a scoring opportunity, you know he just won't score. A downgrade on Fred.

More often than not, small sample size perhaps, but we usually look better with him on the pitch. Purely because he actually plays with a bit of energy and zip, looks to make clever movements.

He does still confuse me a bit. But I do hope we see him in a proper technically well drilled functioning team one day.

This brought back memories of ancient odes to Donny. Not so much the energy and zip, but definitely the confusion and the evergreen promise that he would work brilliantly in an entirely different team.

Mount looks like the type of player that follows instructions and could be good in the new system. He's energetic, and looks to have the necessary desire and tenacity.

Previously very frustrating for sure, but a lot of that could be down to playing in a misfit team under a misfit system.

It's going to take a lot more time to get the team playing the right way, but if Amorim can get a tune out of him, I reckon he'll make it here. Just maybe not legend status though. Just needs to stay fit

Neither does Mount, what's your point? At least Sabitzer was cheap.

He was handed 2 goal scoring opportunities on a plate and wasted both.

As some have already said, keeping Fred would have worked out better.
@cyril C said Sabitzer did score for us
