The Rashford fan club doesn’t believe their golden boy lacks desire. They believe all academy players are hungry and would do anything on the pitch for the club.

Rashford was like this for a couple of years when he broke through. At some point under Ole's reign he lost the desire and the fame went to his head.

I think he has to start vs Arsenal. One of the best pressers in the side and has mobility to help track Odegaard/Saka off Arsenals right side.

Yes. Odegaard is a brilliant brilliant player and will have to be marked tightly if we are going to get any kind of result. Mount is certainly capable of doing that. As is a fit Mainoo.

I think you are misprofiling players here.

whilst Mount is capable of pressing and being mobile, Mainoo is not.

Mount will probably play higher up in the 10 positions.

I was impressed with his link up and getting into attacking positions in Europa, or was it against Everton? He looked toothless in ten hag's system was just a energy bunny, but now I'm noticing he's actually getting more invovled like how he performed at Chelsea under Tuchel. Thank God we finally have a manager who coaches players and plays their their strength while sticking to his principles set out. Which makes it easier for players confidence in knowing what their role should be on the pitch

The last guy we had who actually coached our players and understand their role was LVG

I hope he starts tonight alongside Ugarte but can see Casemiro starting with Bruno in the middle. Maybe as a 10. I doubt the opposition have a clue how to prepare for us now either apart from keep Amad quiet which in theory should give Bruno and Rashford more breathing room.

I keep hearing how much of a good presser he is but for me a very good presser is someone like Amad who intercepts the ball from pressing. Mount runs around without achieving anything tangible. I can't remember the last time I saw him do something with the ball.

We need to move on from him. Mount hasn't been good at all in over two years now.

There's an awful lot more to pressing than just intercepting the ball.

He is a bit like a typical corporate employee. Always busy doing something, but in the end little actual contribution.

That said, we do have a problem getting those front players involved.

Just can’t warm to this guy. I’m sure his pressure stats were incredible, though.

Is a strange player to explain.

He does stuff and tries hes not bad but at the end he doesnt impact the game much.

I'd honestly rate him as a worse signing than anthony. At least anthony scored in the fa cup game against Liverpool to draw us level. This guy has done sweet f all.

Has to do more. Garnacho was bad today, but he tried to get open despite lack of service.. Mount not so much.

We had many positives coming from new shape/system, but it seems our biggest problem so far is how little we manage to play through the middle and involve two number 10s. One of the reasons I want Amad to stay in that wingback role. At least for now.

He works hard, some endeavour about him but not much more to his game is there? Definitely a player who could be useful in the system but lacks the cutting edge to be a difference maker.

He does nothing. It's Van der Beek version 2. Injury prone, overrated while injured. Keep hearing about how he improves the system/pressing etc. Just don't see anything productive.

I am aware of that, but winning the ball back is the most important aspect of pressing, no?

Not neccessarily. In a lot of zonal pressing set-ups the primary goal is to dictate where the opposition have possession, and you're happy to be passive in actually winning the ball back.

Under ETH we had the polar opposite. Winning the ball back in the attacking third more than any other team in the league, but still (correctly) being criticised for our pressing structure. Because even winning the ball back more than anyone else doesn't mean your press is good if the rest of the time teams are ripping past you.

I can see the tactical appeal of playing Mount but, while Bruno cannot do everything Mount can do defensively he can do most of it and he brings a lot more threat. Mount is not a player who should be starting for us.
