I hope some of the doubters can see what we’re on about with him now, it’s been clear from the minute he stepped up to the U18s he was a very special talent. I still think he’s got a couple of gears to go up as well, at youth level he was absolutely dominating, dropping deep to collect the ball then waltzing through the defence like it wasn’t even there, and this is against some of the best young players in the country. I can’t wait to see that Greenwood in the first team, he already looks like he’s going to score every time he has it. 6 goals in his debut season is no joke either, could very easily be on double figures by the end of the season.

I'm not hyping anyone up when they're a teenager after what happened to Jack Wilshire. That guy was utterly phenomenal at 18 and turned to shite.
This is why we don’t sign a striker otherwise this guy ain’t getting his chance. We have to expect inconsistency from young players, it might cost us some of our results with young players but the outcome in 2 or 3 years could be massive.

Anyone who has followed him knows that he is among a crop of players from the academy with huge potentials to make real impact. I recall mentioning Levitt once as being capable of making it here and someone disagreed. I wondered if he knew or has even watched him (Levitt) paly. But then then Astana game came and many saw for themselves.

He can, but it would be better not to burden him with that task now. At least not in a game of that magnitude. Let him concentrate on playing in any of the front three positions. The january transfer window is upon us now, it will be be a travesty if the clud doesn't get an attacking milfielder.

This might sound simple but isn’t it nice to have someone (another some people might say after Rashford) who wants to/has the confidence to shoot and it’s almost a first instinct? That first goal, one touch and bang. Lovely. Makes a change from trying to walk the ball in or put someone through.
I‘ve literally said why. You don’t turn 18 and become World Class overnight. He will have his ups and downs over the next two years. Let him have them at a good level and come back at 20 with extensive experience of first team football at a good level, scoring lots of goals.
His development comes from playing every week, scoring goals, and coming through the inevitable stagnation that comes from a young player.
What do you think he’s going to do, become Utd’s no 9 next season and be consistent for the next 15 years?
If you got a manager who can improve him and currently in a squad that have not many attackers, I don’t see why he can‘t stay in the club for the benefit of both player & the team since the club is aiming to develop young players for rebuilding the team not challenging the league.
Worth to note, Rashford has scored 8 goals for United in his first senior season. Greenwood is on 6 goals already and it's only December.

I carried the lad on my shoulders when he was a kid and brought him to football practice/training numerous times. And I'll be honest I was still sceptical and that maybe down to fears I had of someone I knew too well which clouded my judgement and caution took hold.

Tuanzebe (Villa)/ Peirera (Spain) - good spells for fringe players, looking to get into the first team. Then you have Rashford, who never left the club but has had many learning pains (inconsistency) during that period under Mourinho and is now producing relatively speaking.
What Clayton said is true about outsourcing development but my main concern would be that Greenwood still needs a lot of time to physically mature to be playing any kind of men's football regularly. I doubt he would get any meaningful game time for a club in a league that actually matters or worse his development might get side-tracked because he might find his under-18 pace and technical ability won't be affective against proper athletes. Right now under OGS, playing on the cusp in carefully selected situations for several years would probably be more beneficial. Don't forget he's already being productive and being useful, so it'd be silly to whisk a kid away unless we decide to buy Neymar, Mbappe and others next summer.

Long term I can see the thing that he needs to work on being his physicality and involvement in games. Saw a team mate mention that in training games too he won't be involved for long durations and then then in the box he'll kill you. As he develops given his natural all round talent I'm sure he'd like to be more influential in games.
But yes, there was criticism and the usual claims of 'not ready' a short while back. And it wasn't warranted. You have to put up with certain things if you want to nurture young talent.

With Fred and Scott looking solid in midfield we can definitely afford to do this when needed. We smashed in 3 goals in 6 minutes against SU doing it.

Injuries, and party lifestyle will do that to you. He wasn't professional in his young age.
Unfortunately for him his dribbling style and Arsenals narrow attack meant he was always getting chopped down at speed, his ankles just couldn't handle it.

This. People not realising that bringing another 19 year old striker would impede Greenwood development especially since I believe Greenwood is more talented than Haaland.
People have a superbly talented young fellow coming along well and on his own in the team yet they're craving for a Lukaku 2.0 because he's banging in goals in some third rate league. We should stay away from players clumsy on the ball, especially attacking player.
