I actually thought that they didn't. Otherwise we would've had the game stopped with the VAR screen which shows 'Checking possible Red Card' and since this wasn't a straightforward decision, they would've taken some more time and the commentators would've announced accordingly.

I might be wrong but I heard the commentators say VAR are checking this, they do background check, if they find it noteworthy they would communicate to the ref who will stop the game for a in depth VAR check.

VAR officials decided it was not noteworthy to check again.

Ole said all 3 of them(Shaw, Williams and Greenwood) are probably going to be okay for the Palace game, so I see him starting.

James tries but fails at RW. Mata despite starting at RW and starts dropping deep to play meaningless short passes. The drop in quality from Greenwood is akin to Pogba vs Fred.

This is the kind of situation where it should make it obvious why we need Sancho.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Saying he was a very poor in a game doesn't mean he's not good in general.
When you say a player is very poor, this means this player has done a lot of wrong/bad things like bad touch, bad pass, bad decision, lost possession, bad finish etc in general a lot of mistakes. It's his fault that he had a bad performance.

Imo Greenwood didn't have any mistake last match, he just didn't have the ball nor the space to shine. He was double marked and our midfield got dominated it can't be helped. Not his fault imo.

What I was trying to say is. Despite being quiet and marked out of the game, Greenwood still made a contribution: he forced Sou to double marked him. Thus allowed more space and opportunities for Rashford and Martial to shine. Just imagine what if it's not him but Mata or Lingard.

Your opinion and I respect. Imo he was invisible and let their press drift him out of the game which equals being poor for me. That doesn't change anything from my opinion on, as I like him a lot and he's an exceptional talent for me, and at 18 age he'll surely have these games from time to time as he's not the complete article yet so I'm not that worried. I can't expect him being a presence in every game in such age.

Same here. And I didn't deny that he had a poor performance. However imo saying he's poor is not correct. Imo it's not his fault that he had a poor performance.

Sure thing, not every 18 yo is 18 yo Messi.

It looks like Martial is trying to stop him from powering up to super saiyan

Or he's lending him some chi to turn super saiyan because he's going to need it to compete with Greenwood's second form.

I say play James and tell him that if he stops running for even a second at his highest speed possible then bad things will happen.

Crystal Palace 0:2 Man Utd
Shocking first half including a woeful left foot shot wide and wasting a good counter with an awful pass straight to a Palace player. Conceded free-kick on the edge of our box late on in the half. Nice skill early in the 2nd half.

He clearly needs a rest, could do with sitting Chelsea out to be honest.

In the last 2 games he's shown some nice touches but hasn't really imposed himself on the game. Hasn't quite got into the positions he's most dangerous from and has snapped wildly at a couple of decent chances. Still a better option than James though - his overall play is just superior -and if we keep playing him, he'll score goals again no doubt.

Needs to start getting some protection from the referees, look at Zaha, ref was giving him a foul every time someone breathed near him.

Is he the new Welbeck yet?

Seriously though, he’s 18 got to expect quieter nights. Palace always looked nervous and tried to surround him anytime the ball came to him within 30 yards of goal. Expect a big gamevs Chelsea from this kid.

Didn’t look right tonight. Either fatigue or injured.

Was also very goal shot greedy which meant he missed two obvious chance creating passes.

If it’s possible, I’d give him next 2 games off and bring back more fresh for crunch game vs Leicester.

He wasn't match fit and it showed. Should be rested for Chelsea game. Good thing is that Rashford and Martial are in top form and look fresh

They are going in hard on him. You take a young player out of a game by constantly fouling him.

Not his best game, but I thought he did well in the middle part of the pitch. Certainly better than against Southampton, where he just didn't seem to get involved, but also better than in some of the matches where his goals have stolen the headlines.

He plays well from wide but needs to be in the middle to get on the end of chances

Quiet first half but probably one of our brightest players in the 2nd half then got subbed.

A lot of the praise (rightly justified) must be tempered because there are still parts of his game that require development. The difference between Greenwood the attacking threat around the box and Greenwood the general play influencer are understandably large given his relative inexperience. It's a given that he's going to be quiet and lacking influence in a lot of games, especially now that teams are aware of his threat potential. How could you blame him for night's like tonight? He's been double-teamed two games in a row on the account of his threat on both feet. Finding him space to continue scoring will require Ole to adapt accordingly.

Games like last night should do him the world of good longterm providing of crouse, like Rashford,he learns from them and continues progressing as a player and person.
Good that the hype has tempered abit. Needs a rest.

Yesterday they were kicking him all over the pitch. Hope Ole publicly complain about refrees ignoring nasty fouls on 18 year old.

You make a lot of valid points that I agree with and I also think that for a couple of times, his executions of key passes let him down when he had that bit of space. It will come with experience of course, the talent is there.

Not a good day, poor application, didn't seem very focused but it's bound to happen to a player his age. He needs a rest and I'd like to see him come off the bench because it's the second game in a row where I've felt he was in second gear and he has to have a natural adaptation to the fact that he's becoming a threat teams are planning for. It's only positives for his development.

He's still a child.

He doesn't know how to force himself into a game when grown men on the other side are trying to stop him from doing so. This is the one of those speedbumps that every wonderkid runs into in their first season. It's the downside of making a name for yourself. He'll get over it sooner rather than later.
