Courtois is the only one to make it into the side on a regular basis but he is a good example of investing in young talent, they have also made good money on de bruyne and lukaku and have plenty more talent coming through.

It's really only Courtois so it's hardly anything special or something United should be looking at.

And as for the talent coming the club it's still to be seen if any of them get a chance(Anyone remember Josh McEachran).

Courtouis and technically Zouma was out on loan too. From the academy Ake gets a handful of appearances and a few others have made debuts.

Zouma only had 3(Well 2 really as when he came on at Old Trafford it was to waste time) start for Chelsea so at the moment it's still in the balance.

Not many probably will get a chance as they don't have the patience but the very best will get through and I don't see whats wrong with having so many players on loan.

You say it's nothing special and we shouldn't be looking it but the young talent on their books is much deeper than ours, they have been in the FA youth cup final 3 years in a row and they are benefitting on and off the pitch so they must be doing something right. I think we to take something from it and be investing in players like odegaard, tielemans and trying to bring in more players like pogba and januzaj.

That is why he said improve on it by actually giving them more chances.

Zouma has 4 starts and has been on the bench for almost every match. Terry and Cahill's consistency and great injury record mean he hasn't got that much of a chance but he is their back-up CB and very much part of the squad.

Exactly that's where I think we can improve on it, if they given Matic a chance first time round they would have saved a fortune but they want instant success. Obviously at Utd we do give players that chance and I think with managers likely to come and go fairly regularly we should establish a long term recruitment policy for top young talent and odegaard should be the start.

We didn't give pogba an opportunity so it's not as if it's guaranteed we always play exceptional youth players.

I don't want to change the thread to much but this part is already a part of United's plan as it is with every other top European club. It's simply a case of you win some you lose some. If Ødegaard doesn't end up at United which is most likely then it doesn't somehow mean United's recruitment is totally broken.

To put it simply United are not going to be able to get all the top class players in the world.

It's hardly call it 4 actually starts (One was a summer tour game against wycombe wanderers and the other being time wasting at Old Trafford). Although I'm not arguing that he won't make it but the point that at the moment Zouma being involved in the squad doesn't show how Chelsea youth policy is working.

Piazon would be ones for the future and recently Courtois joined.
That's slightly my point though, you could have said the same thing for numerous players at Chelsea.Anyone remember Josh Mceachran who is STILL out on loan, yes this is loan number 5.

Piazon(According to Wiki) has played once for Chelsea and few years back and is now on his third loan. There's no actual evidence to suggest Piazon will even be a part of Chelsea's plans. Tom Thorpe is only a year older and there's tons of people on here who already think he should move on from United to further his career.

Chelsea's policy's is to simply to hover up as many players as possible and hope some turn out good. There's not actual thinking to the process it's why they have a total of 26 yes that 26 players on loan.

If people want a policy like Chelsea's what they are really saying is out of all the players in the footballing world I would most like all them please. Just give me all the players, yes that's right I want all the players.

You love repeating yourself, that's right, repeating yourself!

I personally like the way we do business but when you're buying highly rated players, selling them on for big profit and 1-2 out of every 30 has Courtios potential you can't really fault it. Even though that way of business should be a big no no to future young players it won't matter once Chelsea keep producing on the field. Just like for Odegaard, Madrid should be a massive no because of their history of ruining players but my guess is he'd jump at the opportunity to play along side the champions of Europe.

If they keep doing it for the next 5 years chances are many of the kids will begin to turn them down.

Well clearly we can't get everyone and no-one is suggesting that but it's clear Chelsea are doing a much better job of identifying, signing and loaning out top young talent so it would make sense to look at the rights and wrongs and try to improve what we are doing because we can learn something from them. They have also managed to do it despite changing managers regularly which again is something we need to learn from as we are unlikely to every have a manager last decades in the job again.

Its not really identifying top young talent so much as throwing money at as many young players as possible as soon as they impress at all and hoping that some make it. It has paid off with Courtois and they have made money on De Bruyne but it doesnt seem like any great thought process behind it. Their loaning system had great success last season but hasnt been particularly successful this year. People also see them selling some players on for more than they bought them and take that as a plus but ignore the fact that they have been paying these players wages for years and have actually lost money. Chelsea also have a tendency to offer young players huge contracts at 16 before they have proven anything such as the ones they have given Loftus Cheek and Christensen which can lead to a lot of problems.

Can't find any highlights of his cameo vs. Estonia the other day. Nothing on YouTube or anywhere else..... Anyone else know anywhere I can catch the highlights or the game?

Nope, sorry to say. Nothing to be found on Norwegian news sites either. Too bad, he had some clever moments in the little half hour he got.

Our swedish scout Björn Andersson talked about him with SportBild.
You can argue that a transfer is close based on the interview.
Would be a nice move for my Bayern but he is still 15. We will see.

Two top talents. I'd love us to snatch Loftus Cheek from them. Under the right tutorship and with the right attitude and luck with injuries, the sky is the limit for him.

To be honest, Chelsea have some sensational youth at the moment, probably the best collection in the land now. Loftus-Cheek, Aina, Baker, Musonda, Christensen have great potential. I hope that they get a chance there.

Common sense would indicate that al;l of these players can't get a proper chance though.

There really needs to be a thread for Chelsea's academy or academy and youth recruitment for big teams in general, the last page has hardly had an Ødegaard mention.

I'd really like to see him join Bayern. Ready to board the train to Hypesville.

Well if I was him I'd probably go to Ajax or maybe Dortmund if the Dutch league is too weak. If he turns out to be as good as everyone seems to think he can still move to Barca/Bayern/Real when he's in his early 20s.

Does anyone know what team he supports? Being a Noggie, I'd have guessed either United or Pool but haven't seen anything of the like being reported plus he's a young un, one of the new generation which has seen Barca rule all, so I wouldn't be too surprised to see him support them instead.

Liverpool

Doesn't mean shit. Liverpool has a large a fan base, but most of its fans would choose the likes of Barca, Real, Bayern or us if they had the opportunity.
True but they'd probably be less inclined to join us if they had offers from clubs they haven't spent the majority of their life hating.

Doesn't matter he's a Liverpool fan, I doubt he'll join the Premier League first, at his age and size he'd be much better suited to a less physical league. He also has his choice of pretty much any club in the world right now, Madrid and Bayern are apparently leading the race.

Whenever we are apparently in battle with Real for a player there is only one outcome I'm afraid.

Marca are hardly worth playing attention to. Remember the Photoshop they did when we played Madrid in pre season.

Marca are as biased as they come, but they do have genuine exclusives in transfers.
