Possibly, seeing as this is a bigger leap than from youth team to Noggy 1st team action, or from the Strømsgodset 1st team to playing UAE or Estonia, but the pressure has been huge on him here in Norway. Such a small country, not exactly barbed wire separating Godset players from the media and fans, a whole nation being more excited about a 15 year old getting to play for the National team than any other established player, and he's dealt with all of it incredibly well. Dæhli had a weaker version of this tied to his career from Molde onward, and he took to the EPL quite decently, and he's looking less promising than Ødegaard, even disregarding the age gap.

High hopes for this lad, but yeah, I'd just as soon have the speculation over with.

I read the entire Guardian article on Odegaard without figuring out which position he plays in. The tweet embedded above told me more about him than that whole article. :rolleyes:

He is in a position where they want him, and instead of being one of many who take the best offer they can get right now he is thinking about his future and would like to see and evaluate which option is best suited for him.

I believe the media attention his tour is getting is more special than the fact that he is touring.

Top talents always look around before singing for a big club. Halilovic waited for a number of offers, Venancio the 15 year old winger we just signed toured it and Barca before signing. It's all part of the routine. Only thing is this kid is an established first teamer and so gets more media coverage, as did Halilovic.

I see, I didn't see anything regarding Halilovic in truth, that is why this seemed like such a circus to me as it's the first time I'd seen a youth player openly touring top clubs like this.
 
Ødegaard is in Manchester according to norwegian newspaper VG. Will visit us and Shitty.

Would love for us to sign him, it's not often everyone is after such a young player.
 
He probably won't cost that much and looked the shit, I'd take a risk.
 
I can't imagine having to make that choice. The only thing I know is that he will get the best combination of a good footballing education and consistent playing time at a high level at Barca, Bayern, Ajax or us.
 
He does look an exiting prospect. I know odds mean nothing but we are the 6/4 fav with bayern at 4/1
 
He's probably be best not coming here, we have reputation of ruining talents/not giving kids opportunity or trying to turn them into jack of all trades, certainly Fergie's last decade this was the case.

Van Gaal seems to be giving kids chances, but he's only been in the job 6 months.

I'm a United fan but from a professional pov i'd probably choose Barcelona (if i had any club to choose from) or Arsenal out of the Premier League clubs.

That's a load of bull in fairness. Cleverley, Evans and Welbeck are all hardly special talents yet they were given plenty of chances. Januzaj was fairly thrown in a at the deep end last season and likewise with Blackett, McNair, etc (although this was largely due to necessity). We paid top dollar for a 19 year old LB too.

They can't sign him for another year.
