Martin Ødegaard | Arsenal player

Let’s see if he can do it in a big game. Not long to wait!
Valid point. He's been decent in the bigger games for us but he needs to produce this level consistently if he's to really step up. Still has a tendency to have a 50-50 game against some quality pressing.

The boy is brilliant, a massive talent without question. He has been at the core of most Arsenal moves. Also, his defensive play has vastly improved. Currently Arsenal's best player without doubt.

He just turned 23 actually.,

At which age Modric was no-where close to Madrid.

Insane that people have already written him off several times. Sucks that he’s been aiding Arsenal’s renaissance, but as a Noggie I’m delighted to see him find his stride again.

I would say it goes both way. Arteta and Arsenal aid Odegaard's renaissance by giving him the stability, and also trust him as a player. Otherwise he would be still be on loan to another club in spain playing for different manager every season.

Yeah, of course. Was just highlighting the one aspect of his doing well that I don’t like.

0 goals, 0 assists but MOTM. The stats obsessed fans can never relate. @Rozay

The exact type of players we need. Where you see them influencing games without needing to score or assist. They just lift the teams general play up which is far more effective than having one player going Hollywood. Get away from the Bruno's of the world.

Watched Arsenal for the first time in a while the other day. Watching Odegaard did NOT make me feel any better about Bruno as our #10 to say the least.

Ha, fair enough! Either way, the point stands. We need players who, despite not getting brilliant stats consistently, excel with their general play. The more players of that ilk we have, the better we'll play as a team, and the better we play as a team, the more widespread our chances will be created. We won't be reliant on one player going Hollywood every game.

Iniesta's goal and assist tally is pretty underwhelming, but everyone who watched him play saw how good he was.

Ødegaard is similar. Doesn't put up numbers, but his intelligence and technical ability keeps Arsenal ticking and makes them so much stronger going forward. His defensive work is extremely good for a player of his ilk too. As someone who's watched him since he was 15 it's wonderful to see him finally proving himself at the highest level, even if he might knock us out of top 4. The talent and quality was always super obvious. Saw him live against Estonia just before he turned 16 and he was easily the best player on the pitch when he came on. He's a remarkable player at his best.

This guy is a complete liability in his own penalty area. I've noticed it quite a few times this season. Just so clumsy and rash. He brought Fred down for a penalty as well.

So, so good today. Gone up a level this season. He’s so good to watch.

He's got a lot of Mata to him in this Arsenal side, but with more agility. Been floating deep and around the front lines, pulling the strings. Lots of movement for him to pick a pass, and has a good left peg. Seems like he's finally tapping into that potential that Real Madrid chanced a while ago.

People don't?
Don't bother, he's here every other Arsenal game spouting his hate for Odegaard as if he's barely a championship player. Very weird
He had a very good game today and got lucky on the deflection to beat Leno but his passing was so good to watch.

Good comparison. Lovely player, wouldn’t look out of place in Pep’s side and Wenger would absolutely love him also.
David Silva was much more scrappy though, and had better close control. Norwegian Ozil, would be a better comparison. Still tends to go missing in games, though thats looking to change this season.

When Real let him go I hope United at least asked about him. Arsenal signed a true baller. Looks like he’s got another couple of gears to go as well talent wise.

Some of us have spent eight years on the hype train and some of us have apparently yet to get on.

Also, can we fix the title? Here: Ø.

Norwegian David Silva or Ozil!? No. Arteta is using him as KDB of this Arsenal team. He must be the creator of chances and also he has a nice wide shot so there is that.

He is class. Just the weight he puts on his pass, his decision making, the way the pass goes to exactly where the attacker wants it instead of forcing the attacker to stop / check back, it's brilliant.

Hope Barca give up on Bilva and poach this guy.

He's got much more work rate off the ball than Ozil mind you. He was the trigger for our press, often at times last season in his own in terms of the forward areas.

He does have the Ozil tendency of needing to shoot more when in a decent position. I understood it a bit with Ozil because he struggled to get power in his shots, but Odegaard can hit a ball. Hopefully with more goals comes more confidence to do that.

We need more goals from our attacking midfielders, so he should be hitting 10 goals a season minimum. It's just that end product that was lacking. With 3 goals already, hopefully he's on his way there.

Seemed to pull up with an injury before coming off last night. Wonder if he’ll be fit for the Utd game.

The cnut McGin got his ankle. I hope it was Ode managing himself before the weekend though it doesn't look too good going by his reaction.

Seeing the impact and the following limp, i would not be shocked if he had some sort of bruise/micro-fracture. He stayed on a few minutes but the way he just punted the ball out to get replaced.... no way he plays on Sunday.

Yeah him pulling up in his run just before coming off doesn’t look like something he could shake off.

Obviously as a Utd fan, it’s good news for us as he’s been brilliant so far and a big reason why arsenal have looked good up top.

Hope he’s okay. He’s one of the most entertaining players in the league this season. If Haaland wasn’t a literal alien, Odegaard would probably have been a great shout for player of the month.

This guy is very good. To be honest, when he first came I didn't think much of him. But he has adapted well to the league now and is imposing himself on games. Tough break for Emile Smith-Rowe though.

They don't do the same role tbh. ESR competes largely with Martinelli, and can sub for Odegaard if needed.

ESR will get his minutes.

Not to mention Norwegian of the month.

A lot of plaudits for Jesus but I thought he was far more dangerous for Arsenal and them scoring looked likely through him.
