So wait which one is it, we lost and they say how game is pointless friendly, we are missing so many players so who cares etc. He is gone because his sperm product came on this world, now people having a go at him because he isnt there for that same friendly game. So is it pointless or not?

The result is pointless. Training and preparation isn’t.

He could have ensure himself of starting position against Leicester with a good pre-season if only he didn't have so much kidz to bother about. I thought Martial FC fans here want to see him start ?

Get real, he’s totally entitled to time off at the moment. Just as any of our other players would be.

The rest of the players are still training though. That’s what pre season is for. Is Martial?
Most of the players are training. I’m sure he’ll be back in training once he gets back then you can stop fretting.

The results of pre - season is pointless. But the process isn't , it's to build fitness and understanding between teammates. Unlike league game where only 3 points matters and how we get it doesn't matter. The only positive thing about this is , he manage to find new club so we can get rid both him and Martial FC fans.

It’s not an either or situation. The result can be meaningless while the match sharpness can be important. What is difficult to understand about that?

I’ll have nothing to fret about. His shit attitude will be the problem of another clubs fans.

Come on man - you think Jose would be talking & rolling his eyes about martial if we won 4-1 over Liverpool?

The result would have been a positive if we won & a negative inducer when we lost. It's an awfully random time & area to bring up martial using the game as a way of training :smirk:

What? We could have won the game 8-0, Martial was still apparently supposed to be back for the game.

Why would Jose mention the time & place he did if we won 8-0?
TBF he seems to just really dislike Martial so I think he’d probably have gone out of his way to bring it up somehow.

Almost like when he did a similar thing with Conte, the “Ill never be guilty of doping” line out of nowhere.

That's Karma my friend - if the manager doesn't provide commitment to players from first season with ibrahinpvic & second with pure lulkaku bias - then ultimately you are not going to get commitment.

Hopefully Pogba is not too different & the board feel they can't lose these players.
You talk like Martial is a target man like Ibra and Lukaku ? Both player isn't even his competitors in first place. Look Andreas Perreira , 22 years old , doesn't have a kid to bother about , work hard and grab his chance by 2 hands , make sure he is in Jose's plan for the next season cause he know he could be starter since Pogba , Fellaini and Lingard probably won't be ready yet. Martial FC fans wish he could start yet the guy himself throw away his chance to impress and guess what ? Will blame Jose again for it.

Fergie gave Ronaldo 2 weeks off over Christmas, the busiest period of the year, because his dad was sick, iirc, in his first season.

Why did you compare a sick dad with newly born and healthy baby ?

He knows we are lacking players. He knows we need to prepare for the season. He wad allowed to be at the birth. He should have been on a plane back to America though.

I think what's probably pissed Jose off the most is that he made that big speech last week about missing his daughter's graduation...the sacrifice he has to make on a regular basis for his job. So to not have that same level of commitment from his players is hard for him to understand. He is the manager though to be fair.

But sadly, that's it now for Tony Martial. Expect a Schweinie/Valdes style exile now.

Jose seems the type of person to purposely miss his own daughters graduation just so he can hold it over people tbf.

Yeah you're probably right there. I've always been fully behind Mourinho but this miserable demeanour he has all the time is really wearing me down. How can a manager of Manchester United be so fecking depressing. Surely the board can't be impressed with it? I just hope that he doesn't start alienating the squad!

Think about it, if it was Matic or Sanchez He won't even talk about it. He dislikes Martial, it's clear now.

Welcoming a healthy child ino the world and attending to sick dad are not the same thing. In the former case, the mind is at joy.

Bingo that's my problem - the moment Jose came in martial & Rashford's chance as strikers went to be replaced by target men. The manager we chose was not a manager who attempts to get the best out of the players at his disposal - it was a manager that was allowed to build a pure team that gets the best out of him so he went for 2 target men

Martial & Rashford now compete as wingers whilst whenever they game they struggle the same way that Sanchez & Mata do because everyone is made to play like target men because that is absolutely vital and non flexible to José's tactics to make work.

Since the moment Jose came in & replaced the strikers as well as the shirt number (which is not just his number it was his permanent positioning) - it made it clear that Jose & Martial would not get it on.

Look at Jose now crying out to the public media - the same people he tells everyone he hates whilst convincing all his fans that it's purely work rate & personality - never nothing Jose did through management :wenger:

Anyway - I just don't see it through the Jose tinted glasses; why anyone would want to get rid of martial because our non capable manager to use some historically 'niche' players before blaming on his traditional work rate & mentality route. It's only a thing that's valued for a year at the very least before we get something else to concentrate on!

You’ve lost me, I don’t understand what you are saying.

You said Jose has a right to complaint publicly due to martial's loss of training - I told you Jose did so only because he got angry after being thrashed.

If it was not about results that he bought martial up - why didn't he complain about it pre match? Saying it would have been good to have martial here?

Instead as usual - we have his godly rolling eyes post match blaming everyone except him.

So do you think Martial should be back? Or allowed to spend time with his newborn child?

Probably just doesn’t like his face. Nothing to do with sulking, playing half arsed and complaining for months about wanting to leave before buggering off and not returning.

Liverpool ended up playing an 18-year-old winger Camacho at right back against us.

You can tell why players get sick of him after a while, Klopp for all his faults (and there are many) seems very close to his players.

Back. We're severely lacking attackers and he needs to start the first game in less than 2 weeks.

Happy workers are productive workers. His manager should better understand his players rather than have a fairly single minded approach to management.

Days off all round then. Players should understand they aren’t their own bosses and pick and choose when they want to be in work.

So what are your thoughts on Klopp being ok with Clyne missing matches because of his new child as well?

Its a different situation in that he wanted Martial to be prepared to start our first PL game in less than two weeks, especially given our lack of resources at this moment.

That isn't my point though is it.

I agree Martial should do what his manager says.

I disagree with what the manager says. Hence why I initially bought Fergie into it.

I don’t really have any thoughts on it. Has Clyne been angling to leave Liverpool? Has Klopp asked him to come back and Clyne just hasn’t bothered? Has Clyne been sulking and playing shit for months? Does any of it have anything to do with Anthony Martial or Manchester United?

That's a very simplistic and narrow minded point of view! Considering how Jose treated Schweinsteiger, he is really in no position to take any moral high ground. Martial isn't picking and choosing when he wants to work. He's spending a few days with his newborn ffs!

Then he bent over backwards to keep a player who was holding the club to ransom and reward him with another two more years???

Mourinho really needs to change his approach and look at his man management skills.

It seems to be. Is having a fortnight off going to make Martial happy and productive? Fergie was lenient and made allowances with players who put a shift in for him. I’m sure Mourinho would do the same. Martial needs to help himself. Buggering off and not returning is not the way to get back in the managers good books. How did Alex Ferguson deal with David Beckham when he felt the rules didn’t apply to him?

Just showing that it is possible to be understanding that there are more important things than football. There’s nothing wrong with wanting some time off to be with your new child. Your posts in this thread are extremely needlessly aggressive.

I agree Martial needs to help himself. But Jose clearly has a type of player he gets on with. Isn't as flexible a man manager as a lot of other managers.

Maybe that's what we need right now though.

Mourinho didn’t want Schweinsteiger in his squad so didn’t pick him. I’m not sure what relation this has to Martial. That’s exactly what he’s doing. He left to see his child be born and hasn’t returned when his employer wanted him to.

Again I’m not sure what Fellaini has to do with this. He wanted to keep a player that he likes and does what he wants him to do. He wasn’t sulking and demanding to leave or not showing up for work. He negotiated a contract.
