Martial | Di Marzio thinks he will stay

Still can't believe he's likely to go. Club messed this up massively with the Sanchez deal. They should have signed Martial up before the new year, we would have at least got huge money for him.

Everyone seems to talk about the player Martial will be instead of the now. Please note that the future is not set in stone!

It's generally agreed that United need to win now, can we afford to wait on players to develop?
If Fergie had followed your approach we'd never have even signed Ronaldo.

That's not my approach. Additionally, what I think really doesn't matter. I was just trying to add rational thought to the many overreactions that have been occurring in this thread. We need results now and no one things Martial has reached a really sustained high level of performance. And he wants to be treated like a star without (in my opinion) actually showing why allowances should be made for him. The issue is that we are currently not good enough to carry anyone.

Also, I want Martial to stay and fight for his place, to improve and become WC instead of continually showing promise but if he leaves, life goes on.

Meh, based on form over the last two seasons he's welcome to leave. Based on the fear that he may actually live up to his promise, you'd want him to stay. Much like Welbeck I suspect he'll never hit the heights the occasional glimpse hints at, so he can do one if we can get somebody better in.

I'm a huge fan of Tony and I'd be over the moon if we kept him, but he just doesn't seem to have the patience to wait for his turn like Rashford, Lingard, or even someone a lot older like Mata. I get that he was playing so well when we signed Alexis and he was dropped unfairly, but let's face it; football is unfair sometimes. Alexis has been one of the best attacking players in England since he signed to Arsenal and any time a player of that caliber is available, you go all out for him. Maybe Martial will realize his full talent one day, maybe he'll win the BDO (I don't think so, but a lot of people here say he has it), but I'm confident that Alexis will do more to help us win the league within the next two seasons than Martial.

My only request is he not be sold at any cost to Juventus because of their petty snipes at Pogba and United since we bought PP back :wenger: Sell him at a discount to Inter, ACM or even Roma, just add a sell-on clause.

We have this options

- Force him to stay and let him leave for free and miss out 50-60M

- Extend his contract and forcing him to the first 11(which will cause Problems with Mourinho)

- Sell him and get a replacement

Yes. Like City are developing their young players or we have done for decades and decades.

if the chelsea rumours are true...although my main aim would be to keep martial...ill try to lure hazard, although not sure about the relationship between hazard and mou

The only way he goes to Chelsea is if we get Willian and Kanté in exchange, very unlikely! I expect him to go to Juventus and become a Juve great.

I sure that you are able to see the difference between now and 10 or 20 years ago.
Additionally, United are not forcing Martial out; he wants to leave.
The wait, refers to not getting WC players (eg. Alexis) who in theory are ready to improve the team and are already peforming at a high level.

I still think he’d be the better no 9 for us instead of Lukaku going forward but Jose will never see it that way.

Really wish we’d give him a run up front for the next few games now that Lukaku is injured.

My advice is that dont put too much hope on that. There is nothing new since leaving report by French god source Bouhafsi, Martial is still barely playing in contrast to his demand which is guarantees of playing time from the club. So unless he announces himself like what he usually did in the past (still not this time), i cant see him being here next season

Actually there is a slight chance that suddenly Jose changes his mind and chooses Martial in starting XI for FA final, Martial scores a hattrick, we win the cup, he signs new 10 years deal and everyone lives happily ever after. But in this dream scenario there’s still a risk that Martial doesnt perform, we lose and in his anger, Jose ends up selling Martial for whatever price

He's not really a Mourinho type striker. You only have to look at Mourinho on the touchline when Lukaku closes down the full back when he's trying to put it down the channel, or he holds up a bit of dirty ball to bring others into the game. He absolutely loves it. Martial, IMHO, neither can, nor is particularly willing to do that.

How many creepy forwards have we had, in your estimation? :p
:lol:I guess he was shown up as an adulterer. Didn't Yorke and Cole have threesomes with fans, and obviously Rooney being a granny-shagger.

yeah we need another left winger in our team. If they want Martial, I want us to take Kante.

Oh I see your line of thinking now. Most of our forwards haven't been creeps though, as far as I know. Though, we could always start spreading filthy rumors about them...? :smirk:

Who says we are just waiting? Before Alexis came, Martial was doing better than what Alexis has done.

You can't be serious. He had a decent run of games several months back but he's been very inconsistent. I'll give Alexis more slack than Martial as he's just got here and still adapting. Martial has been here 3 years and he's not any different now than he was when he first arrived. Actually, he was better in his first season.

Of course I'm serious. I don't see what's outrageous about that statement. Martial was contributing a goal/assist every 90 minutes before Alexis came. What has Alexis done for us?

I don't want him to go. He hasn't set the world alight since arriving but there's enough there to see he will become a very good player.

Look at Memphis and you can see a player now. he was useless at United.

We need to keep him. If it doesn't work out then it's only £30m which in today's market is nothing. If he goes and fulfills his potential we will be kicking ourselves again.

Produced match winning performances away against City and away (essentially) against Spurs in an FA Cup Semi Final, producing a goal and two assists in both games. Heavily involved in all of the goals. MOTM in the latter game.

Tally up Martial's production away vs City, Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool since he's been here and what exactly are you left with?

Martial is a talent, but he's still very flawed. People need to get a grip.

Hazard has played multiple times on the rw. It would be great to have Sanchez and Hazard interchanging.

These rumors are most likely completely fals but if Martial leaves us and ends up at a PL team, I will personally fund the Jose out plane over Old Trafford.

There's no possible way to keep both Martial and Rashford happy now we've got Sanchez and Lukaku.

If one of them was as effective from the right as they are from the left then sure we'd be set up perfectly moving forward.

As it stands we've got too many left sided attackers that will demand minutes so one is most likely going to leave.

Didn't some woman lose her beauty crown cos Sheringham was a judge and ended up banging her?

Lukaku looks to be out of the Brighton game on Friday and I still don't see Martial getting to start at CF.

It's strange because I think he excels even more through the centre than he does on the left.

No white text?
No answer? Some components of a footballer’s game include decision making, passing ability, defensive tracking, scoring, following managerial instructions, and mental attitude, all in addition to dribbling. What in the aforementioned does he excel in? And I say excel... Not decent. Not okay. But excel.

He's an excellent finisher, never panics in front of goal.

His crossing is also massively underrated.

His decision making has also gone up a level this season I'd say. Watch the difference between him and Rashford when it comes to the decisions on when to dribble and when to just keep possession.

What else do you want him to excel in as a 21 year old?

Martial is the odd man out right now. He did have flashes a brilliance earlier in the season. I hate to let a young talent like him go

Martial may go on to be the next Lionel Messi , but ATM and really since he signed he has been bang average , not a patch on Sane for example .
It would depend on the transfer fee if I was to sell him.

This will be Jose's legacy with our most prodigious talent in the starting 11. It's like he cannot help himself and has to push out budding stars out of the club. Can you imagine Pep letting Sane leave or Fergie letting a young Giggs leave because they are inconsistent?

Mourinho just doesn't seem to have the knack of getting the best out of players who have a lot of flair. He almost always sucks at it.

Letting Martial go would be a monumental feck up by us and we will rue it when we will have to pay 100 mil plus for a player with his ability 2 years down the line when Sanchez is declining. It's like we cannot help shooting ourselves in the foot after Fergie left.

Let Sane play in our system and then we will see. It's so irritating to read such views when Sane has also had a massive drop in form but hey, Martial is not a patch on him.

Eden Hazard, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ozil, Milito, Di Maria all prove that statement to be false

I don't understand this thread. Has he signed for Chelsea already? I thought it was just interest
