Martial | Di Marzio thinks he will stay

This will go down like a sack of shit with the Old Trafford crowd, they match going fans absolutely love him. He's up there with De Gea and Herrera.

That said, even though we may regret it in a few years I don't think it's the most insane thing for us to sell him right now and instead focus on Sanchez and someone more consistent - he's had a lot of chances and never quite matched up to his reputation among the fans.
That's all well and good but Sanchez has shown in his time here that he's no more consistent either and if anything he's worse as he's an experienced pro.

I don't want to believe it but I keep asking myself "could it be"?

I suspect we are trying to keep both. The problem is the one that most fans want to keep has better offers elsewhere. It's not a case of one or the other. Fellaini has probably realised he isn't going to get a great deal elsewhere.

Jose has said he isn't against selling to rivals, and even that it should happen more often. As long as whoever wants him pays for Jose values him at, he could end up anywhere.

Jose has also said that he won't sign a forward this summer. I don't see much sense in selling Martial considering he will have two years left on his contract.

I agree with that. And also because he'a good player who can become a great one, but if he wants out, I don't see Jose standing in his way, so long as we get what his worth.

I hope that doesn't happen though. Would rather he stayed.

Is that official now? I've not been keeping up with the situation.

Well it was reported by the same source which said Martial wants out. So if we're believing one thing off that news item, then we should believe the other thing too.

No chance we sell Martial to chelsea for money. It ll either be for hazard/kante or we sell him abroad. This is all in assumption of us wanting to sell him, dont think we want to. We have offered him a contract and probably he wants more money and this is all for it.
No way we sell him this summer, no way we sell him in the Premier league.

There are no official contract offers in football. The deal is announced when its signed.

I'm assuming by this you mean that no contract is actually written up until the terms are agreed? Maybe Martial rejected the proposal that we'd like his new deal to run for 5 years. Perhaps that was our first proposal and he just flat out rejected the idea of signing a new deal right now.

In fairness he had a shocker his first few weeks but he's been consistently busting his balls that whole time and he's starting to deliver now.

Apart from the odd bit of brilliance from Martial it's hard to say he consistently plays with the same amount of passion and effort that Alexis does.

If he's declined the offer, then let him go.

He isn't irreplaceable like De Gea. Sure he might come world class, but his drive at the moment is very questionable at times.

It's still only been two or three games, and Sunday was a return to the Sunday League standard he set in his first few weeks.

Martial's highs have been higher, and his lows haven't been as low. To anyone not named Jose Mourinho it's obvious he should be in the team.

Has anybody considered that Jose needs raise money to bring in the players he wants because the glazers aren't willing to fork out the cash we need. Martial at £80 lm is a pot of gold for Jose.

I absolutely want him to stay though, he's got a killer instinct and will be twice the player of rashford at their peak imo.

How does that make sense when the club already offered him a new contract?

Not to mention mata aswell. Mata and Rashford have been way worse than him this season. Why not sell them.

No he shouldn't.

If we're believing he's refused to sign a new contract and has intentions to leave in the summer then there's no valid reason why he should play at all. If he signs the contract and see's Sanchez's arrival as a chance to push himself and develop against tougher competition for places, then perfect, stick him in the team. Unfortunately, he hasn't done that, he's chose to sulk instead and refuse a new contract.

He'll have two years left on his contract this summer, if we're going to get any reasonable money for him, we have to sell now, next year he'll go for peanuts or even free. Jose's just doing what's best for the club when a player doesn't want to play for us.

Martial's been piss poor this season, Sunday was no different with the exception of the cross to Fellani. He's one dimensional and gets disposed or loses the ball far too easily.

Despite all this, I'm pretty sure Mourinho said Pogba, De Gea and Martial are going nowhere at the weekend.

Because their attitude has been 100% better than Martial, who's refused to sign a contract and we wont get any decent money for him past this summer due to the time remaining on his contract.

And if you're seriously advocating selling Rashford in order to keep Martial, you're got rocks in your head.

If that is being offered I say bite their hand off. I think the kid has the wrong attitude to make it here.

Second this. Rather have that money reinvested in the squad on players that want to play and see competition for places as something that helps you develop. At the moment it appears Martial is turning into a young Nicolas Anelka.

I don't really get how people can blame the club, Jose would obviously keep him if he could, the club isn't to blame for a player wanting out, that's his choice.

Still think we should keep him for another season and see what happens, but I can't see that happening at this point.

Martial is the much better player now and has a much higher ceiling for the future as well.

If it's a straight choice between them then Martial wins it every time.
Absolutely no way is this even remotely close to being right. They're almost the same in regards to current ability and there is absolutely no evidence to suggest Martial has a higher potential.

What we can measure is that attitude and a willingness to learn is something that all great players have. Rahsford has a far better attitude than Martial and is constantly learning. Martial is still doing the same one trick he's been doing since his debut and is refusing to play on the right wing.

Give it two to three seasons and we'll see who the better player ends up being.

He's young and should relish the chance to develop next to players like Sanchez, Pogba, Matic. I hope he stays, because I think he can become really good but if he's not willing to adapt to Mourinhos sometimes boring tactics, which requires a high work-rate. Or he doesn't want a club where he has competition for his spot then honestly he has nothing to search for here at Man Utd.

Don't get me wrong I think he's fantastic at times but if he doesn't have the mentality for a big club now, he never will and he'll constantly have morale problems down the line.

Everyone seems to talk about the player Martial will be instead of the now. Please note that the future is not set in stone!

It's generally agreed that United need to win now, can we afford to wait on players to develop?

Who says we are just waiting? Before Alexis came, Martial was doing better than what Alexis has done.

What an awful deal that’d be.
Wouldn't be the worst deal, considering how good Willian is and has been this season. Him and Jose have a brilliant working relationship and if that's who Jose wants to take us further then I'm all for it. It's Manchester United F.C not Martial F.C - a player that doesn't even want to be here.
