Mario Götze

See thats the easy ride I was talking about. If say Payet comes out and days West Ham wont win anything significant anytime soon and that he would rather sign for a big team this summer - This wouldn't be received so well.

But it happens all the time, every summer players ask to be sold to better or richer teams and we rarely criticize them.

If he barely plays, clubs might lowball him. I don't think that he is going to have more money next summer.

Edit: The only clubs who are going to give him crazy money are the ones that aren't really good since Gotze hasn't been a top performer in the last two years and seemingly won't be one next year.
Anybody who is going to give bayern 25m and pay him wages now is probably going to be in a position to roll a chunk of that 25m into a signing fee and higher wages in 6 months... Better financially for the buying club, better for the player... The only real loosers are bayern who get stuck with his wages for a year and no fee

£19m for Goetze, I doubt they'll be a better deal all summer. He's still only 23 as well....sign him up!
I think Rooney is going to be a starter in the No.10 position. Also, we have Mata and Herrera as cover. Even Fellaini, Januzaj and Pereira. So I guess is better for Gotze to move to a team where he can play most of the games.

For that price I would sign him. But a player like Mata would have to go.

So the question would be, do you prefer Mata or Gotze?

Gotze is more than capable of playing on the right wing, something which none of the players you mentioned can. He is more more versatile.

Is it me or does he never look fully fit? He's always got the puppy fat.

Anyway I don't see why every club in the PL isn't after him. When world class talent becomes available you go for it.

As an Arsenal supporter I would hope you keep Mata.

Planning a season around Rooney being consistent in one position backfired massively last time out so yeah lets continue to do that, maybe this time it will be different hey? There is no harm in getting him in and playing him on the right and when you who starts to play like you what move Götze in field.

I would plan without Rooney. But being realistic, I cannot see him going this summer.

I could plan with Rooney being benched and just a cover in some games. But then again, I think he will start most of the games.

The day this club stops basing everything around Rooney playing like he did 7 years ago will be amazing.

I'm not saying sell him or drop him, just acknowledge the fact that he is no longer the player he once was and plan accordingly. Bayern had Ribery and Robben in addition to Muller who also played on the wings occasionally but still had the foresight to sight Costa and Coman, now Rooney is arguably in a worse state than those three but people still wan to shield him from competition? Ridiculous!

Rooney remember me the Vieri situation at Inter Milan 10 yr ago.

They didn't sell him at the right time and they lost a lot of money

Vieri value at 28 yr old: 50 million
Vieri value at 29 yr old: 20 million
Vieri value at 30 yr old: 5 million
Vieri value at 31 yr old: 0 million, and they were forced to pay to him a lot to leave the club for free.

Considering how injury prone Ribery and Robben are these days, I'd argue that Rooney may be in better shape. :D

I can't believe how he's not linked with United - he would really be a steal. He's got plenty of quality, he's a talent. The fact is that he's not in right place, he made a poor decision going to Bayern Munich, he now needs to question himself and accept a challenge in a new championship.
Please buy him.
Or at least I hope Juve could get him. It would be a shame if he remains in Munich.

Looks like someone who's not very driven anymore - a player of his quality should be itching to get out Bayern whereas he seems determined to stay put on the bench even though they have publicly stated they want to get rid.

Tbf, don't think it gets much better than scoring a World Cup final winner - I'd probably put my feet up and relax as well

Apt comparison, I still remember how it went all downhill for Bojan after he scored the winner in the world cup final.

Can't claim to have seen a great deal of him seeing as he never plays for Bayern, but I can't help feel very underwhelmed whenever I watch him.

If those links with Liverpool resurface I wouldn't really be bothered if he joined them (I know he won't cos Ancelotti's offered assurances over his future, but just to play the Devils Advocate). They already have Coutinho, Firmino and Lallana. The last thing they need is another floaty #10.

Wut? The latest development is Bayern leaving him out of their CL squad if he stays, Ancelotti basically told him to feck off.

Basically, the second coming of Sebastian Deisler but with more medals.
Really bad example. Depression is not something one should nonchalant talk about or use it for a comparison.

First part is wrong, Bayern denied the reports and said they might press charges against whoever started that rumour.
They want him gone tho, that's true.

Thats a daft comparison. Inter signed Veiri for around 30-32m back in 99 when he was already 27 didnt they? We signed Rooney when he was 18 for around 28-30m. He has already paid off what we paid for him by helping us win so much and by being with the club for more than 10 years.

He is the German Jole Cole.

Which means
A. He is not the new messi
B. He is more talented than Cole ever was
C. Like Cole, he could still become one of the best players for a top club, once it all clicks for him.
D. People will continue to berate him for failing to become the new messi.

He looks a pale shadow of the player he was as a teenager, but at a reasonable I'd still buy given the potential pay off. And I'd take him over Mata in response to the poster who posed that choice.

I wouldn't buy him, i would rather buy Mikitarian and retain Mata, but if we were to sell Mata, i would rather buy Draxler than him, he is somebody i rate far more than him.

I think he's another case of a young player moving too early to an elite club and even worse staying too long. Once you haven't established yourself as a starter in the first 2 seasons, you really need to leave. Time and again we've seen it that young talented players waste crucial years of their development on the bench. You learn a lot in the first season as a squad player, but after that you need to kick on or go somewhere else because it becomes pointless. It doesn't even matter how big his potential initially was, the fact that his performance level has deteriorated significantly means that he should have left a while ago. For his own sake, I really hope he doesn't stay another year with us. He needs to take a step back and fight hard to play regularly and improve at a smaller club.

Seems to of gone backwards more than improve since his Dortmund days. He needs a change of scenery clubwise pronto.

I wouldn't sign him, has stagnated completely at Bayern after completely shitting on Dortmund. Got way too big for his own boots so soon and so caught up in the ridiculous Guardiola hype.

He might end up a good player for someone, but he really should never of left Dortmund.

I'd be curious what Pep has to say on the player (apart from him being a professional player) because you never see a midfielder go backwards under him

Pep has a short career and Fabregas kind of regressed at Barcelona.

Actually, Cesc had already regressed prior to returning to Barcelona. No midfielders regressed under him which makes the Mario case unusual - a Klopp reunion makes sense

If he was going to Liverpool it would have happened by now. If the rumors are to be believed he had or rather his agent had a huge contract lined up for him at Pool and two days he fired his agent and the deal went cold.

Word coming out atm from Liverpool is that, true to form, we've been lowballing and haven't reached an agreement to satisfy either Bayern or Gotze yet.
