Mario Götze

Force what hand? All the rumors out there have reported Ancelotti telling Gotze he can leave. This is Bayern we are talking about, not Everton or Crystal Palace that needs to hold on to one of their players for top money. How about we not try to second guess a deeper meaning to everything and call it as it is? Most footballers are simpletons. He wants to try and fight for his place, if he fails he can leave in January or even next summer for free.
We're still talking about tens of millions of pounds. It's one long game.

He's 23, there is nothing smart about deciding to stay at a club where you won't play at that age. He has plenty of time left to take the extra millions later on in his career. Besides, Bayern wants to sell him this summer so if he does stay, it's safe to say he'll get even less gametime than this season. Silly boy.
Yeah, but... Liverpool, though. Can't blame the lad.

He's not going to go for free this summer, neither is Bayern expecting him to go for 40-50m euros. Playing a long game to cut his own price for few million euros to join Liverpool this summer, a club that spent truck loads on Andy Carrol and Benteke? Sounds a far fetch theory.

He probably doesn't want to commit longterm to Liverpool right now when it's unclear how well the club will do in the next 4-5 years. He could be stuck in nowhere. I still think he prefers to go back to Dortmund but maybe they told him that they won't buy him this summer. If Ancelotti gives him a fair chance, sticking around for one more year might not be as bad as many suggest.

My guess is that he wants to wait until after the Euro before he makes a decision. If he plays a great tournament, he might attract better offers than he has so far. Saying he wants to stay and that he's highly motivated to fight for his place is just the smart thing to do right now, because if no really convincing offer comes in, he at least put himself in a position at Bayern that looks as if he really wants to stay and isn't forced to.

Not going to Liverpool is always the smart move.

i think you are mistaken if you think that an in-form gotze won't get playtime at bayern. until his injury this season he had a really good run.

Not entirely surprised tbh, was fairly certain this saga would have some twists and turns. I can see why he wouldnt want to move here, but then again wouldnt be surprised if he did end up here having had no better offers. Dont think he'll waste another year at bayern

Wouldn't mind him playing on the right wing for us like he did at Dortmund till Kagawa left.

I'm not saying he's playing a long game, I'm saying maybe he's trying to hurry Bayern Munich up with the Euros in mind by weakening their position ie if you don't agree this deal with Liverpool then I probably won't move full stop.

Think about it - Bayern want him gone, and Gotze says "I think I might just stay" - what will their reaction be?

Also interesting that he sacked his agent and replaced him with the one that just moved Firmino and Karius to Liverpool.

I knew he changed agents but not to whom. Thanks for the info endless.

It's on again

He's a good player. But I don't think it's a big loss to Liverpool if they don't sign him. They already have Coutinho and Firminho.

Stay then. The idea of Bayern being held at ransom by Gotze is laughable. I can only imagine if it was a Liverpool fan hoping against odds that this is some ploy by Gotze to mastermind a move. The much more obvious reality is that he has decided to stay this summer and fight for a place first.
By the way, there is no concrete report that Gotze has changed his agent to Rogon unless you have source you can share. Though, it won't be a surprise if he did since Rogon is the 2nd biggest agent in Bundesliga after the one he just parted ways with.

He didn´t. His main agent is now his father while also being advised in legal matters by a lawyer from Munich.

Bayern certainly made their position clear today with CEO Rummenigge stating that Götze has to decide for himself "if he wants to play consistently next season or not". In football press talk this is as clear as it gets in telling Götze in public that he has no real role or future with Bayern. They want him gone and off the wage bill pretty quickly, which collides with Götze´s wish to use the EURO as a platform to angle an offer by a bigger club than Liverpool (thats at least my impression as the most likely scenario). The deal with Pool has appearantly collapsed in the last few days as it was his now former agent, who tried to transfer him there and that this was the main reason for parting ways.

There is also a less likely scenario that Götze tries to put pressure Bayern here for a certain move and tries to lower a possible transfer fee, basically given them the choice between less money for the transfer or having to pay him a hefty salary next season and then losing him for free.

It just doesn´t make any sense to go public with it. Any team can low-ball us and him staying would be really disruptive now. Those matter should stay between the two parties.

'Liverpool? feck that, you're fired'.

Good lad.

I hate Rummenigge. There was really no need to say that in public.

Still not convinced that he'll be a top player in future but it still is funny that he has sacked his agent who was pushing for a move to Liverpool.

So we agreed the deal and personal terms, but he's decided feck it I don't want to go there and fired the agent that agreed the deal with us for him and announced he's staying. Then Bayern basically came out and said nah go feck yourself we don't want you here. So basically hes going in to the shop window in the Euro's to try and get a better offer. Can't see him coming here at all, the move was agreed and he got cold feet. Although I suspect if he has no takers Bayern will push him towards anyone who wants him towards the end of the window. Regardless, big desicions for the lad

Shame though, really wanted him here.

3 out of 4 things Rummenigge says in public are unneccessary, cringeworthy, terrible or dickish things to say. Or maybe it's 4 out of 4. The guy is a stupid asshole tbh.

I know this question has been discussed to death, I would like your take on it though. How do you think Klop would fit Gotze, Firmino and Coutinho into the same 11? Just seems a bit unnecessary to me, especially for a club that dosn't have a bottomless pit of money to dip into

Me too but don't want him anymore, I only want players who really want to be at our club and will give their all to build something. If Götze doesn't want to come, fair enough then. Just look at what happend with Di Maria and United, such things never work out.

€25m for a player like Götze is almost nothing though, we'd recoup that in a heartbeat just by selling Balotteli and Allen for example, with other players such as Skrtel, Bogdan and maybe Ibe and Benteke leaving as well.

I think it's basically an Ozil at Arsenal situation, they had other pressing matters in other positions which they ironically still have to this day, but just cause of the sheer quality of the player they couldn't pass it up, case is even more so for us a club that finished 8th with no trophies, we have\had a shot at a player that we otherwise wouldn't have just because of the reputation of the manager. If Goetze came here he's instantly our best player barring a fit Sturridge.

Fitting him in is easy with that in mind, Firmino will rotate as a 10 and a forward I'd imagine based on injuries, he'll see a lot of minutes and will put up good numbers. The others I honestly couldn't care less about after the final debacle, Lallana and Coutinho will likely see bench time at points next season and we'll likely sign a quick winger to add some balance. Markovic will probably be the backup to whoever that is. Goetze will play as a 10, Sturridge \Origi\Firmino will rotate upfront depending on form fitness and the opposition.

He can ship out whoever he likes as far as I'm concerned it's a mentally weak and unbalanced squad, some players probably notable ones might even be shown the door, players who we werent expecting to be. Getting a Left back and overhauling the midfield is where I want to see the most cash go towards.

And as for the cash comment, most the reliable club journalists have said he's been sanctioned the biggest kitty thus far under FSG, money won't be an issue. Its getting the right players in and convincing them to come.

True, but this is a unique one because it's a player Klopp has coached for years and knows on a personal level. It's quite obvious he's rejected us and seems to have made that call following the Europa result. So if we keep going after him past this point he'll have probably given Klopp some sort of indication that his minds open to change yet. Personally I don't think it'll happen, but Klopp will pull the plug if he feels he's having his time wasted. It's a really murky one but I trust Klopp to make the call.

@Liver_bird @RobinLFC

Thanks guys, I can understand why you would be excited by his signing. Gotze is a great player and would improve you no doubt, just think that you have several other higher priority positions to sort out first

Bayern are a fecking despicable club. They pull all the stops to sign this young lad who is playing week in week out and such a talent from a rival. Then three years later they tell him to just feck off. Bunch of feckwits.

Yeah, we forced him to join really. Blackmailing and stuff.
It had nothing to do with having the possibility to sign one of the brightest talents in the world, at the time in one bracket with Neymar, for cheap.
We should just have let him go to City for 37m€. Because reasons.

Götze can basically play any attacking position and probably a CM(ish) position in a 3man midfield too. Fitting him in at Liverpool shouldn't be too hard.

Signing Götze was an absolute no-brainer in 2013. The level (and cosistency) he performed on as a teenager was utterly ridiculous. However things haven't worked out for him at Bayern and since he's on silly wages they decided to part ways with him, which actually should be in Götze's interest, too. The only thing I'd really criticise about this whole situation is that I think Rummenigge spoke too harshly in public.

Yeah, he often gives that impression, but I doubt he'd be at the top for so long if he really was an idiot.

He's always been hideously overrated so no surprise people are shocked it hasn't worked out for him and blame the club.

He wasn't. He really was THAT good.
Only German player of my lifetime with serious WPOTY potential.

No, he wasn't. People were getting over excited about a young player doing very well. Nothing more.

I remember laughing at people who suggested he was going to be up there for the Ballon D'or. I'm still laughing.
