I don’t think he has EVER done this. He might not be up to the managers expectations but he’s never point blank refused.
There wouldn't be a discussion if he had refused to run and/or train, in that scenario the club would be able to just cancel his contract, attitude and effort are the issues

I miss Rashford, the lad who came through the academy and got his debut because of first team injuries. The glorious smile on his face when he scored his first senior goal. I’m sad it’s come to this.

Didn’t Michael Owen commute to Newcastle via chopper? Rashford could just do that. It’s a drop in the ocean for him.

Wonder if our team leaks will dry up now.

Wish him well, definitely hasn’t been happy here for a while, for whatever reason. Best for everyone for him to move on. Didn’t see a move to another PL team on the cards but hopefully he does well for them in the CL & PSG come in for him in the summer.
It has pretty much dried up since he got frozen out

Not sure if it's because he's the leaker or the actual leaker wants to frame him as the leaker

But either way, leaks aren't happening anymore

it's probably always gone like this as i have it (warning: baseless speculation based on absolutely nothing other than my own observations and boredness being home alone on a saturday in february)

also you must believe that this axiom is true to follow my logic:
- Club ownership regularly do some sort of remedial polling that asks who the fans like the most - the owner/manager/players

1. Jose: Rashford was adored by fans and we loved rashford so everything was fine, but Jose hinted rashford didn't quite lack the mentality to make it so could be sold, this made the board unhappy with Jose, not giving him funding and urging him to use the academy players more to increase the fan perception of ownership & the club. Club did some polling and saw rashford & players were favoured by fans, being unsure about Mourinho and hating the board. This means Jose got no money and eventually threw his toys out of the pram, leading to his demise.

2. Solskjaer: fans adored solskjaer and rashford at this time, and fans were still Glazers out but things were going well for awhile so weren't see bothered about the club setup as everything was rosy. Lingard/pogba et al began leaking stuff to the press to get Ole sacked when results took a nosedive after they were caught doing catwheels in the dressing room after getting beat by City at home (i think). Ronaldo came out and did what he did, squad fell apart and downed tools - board have no choice but so sack ole as results were going nowhere after further player leaks.

3. Rangnick: Needn't much be said here, other than i believe this is where rashford started to solidify in his head that all this stuff about leaking stuff to the press and not giving a feck was a good way to get a manager he doesn't like sacked

4. Ten Hag: Rashford gets along with ETH at first, having that 30 goal season, he's now probably the fans favourite player being an academy prospect and being our POTY, but the idea that he can just not give a shit and still get paid his ridiculous wages and down tools to get the manager was sacked is still in the back of his head. His purple patch ends and our form nosedives

This is where the stuff about rashford leaking stuff to the press starts as his form goes to shit after that world cup in 2022 i believe, and rashford starts using his PR machine to keep his image afloat during a bad spell. Ten Hag doesn't like this and tells the owners to get rid so he can buy some more shit players, but the owners see rashford is still favoured by fans, this whole takeover thing was going on and had the fans back on the owners' side once the takeover was complete as we'll have this sexy modern structure all the fans have been crying out for.
Rashford downs tools and rest of the team follows - EtH eventually sacked

5. Amorim: Club is in an absolute shambles, fans are pleased with the board for this hire, and still are (i wrote this post on 01/02/2025). High intensity training and super high standards for players who had their holidays booked 10 mins ago has alot of players pissed off. Rashford starts with his PR nonsense, club do some polling and see that fans absolutely love Amorim and hate rashford by now and his lack of attitude. Amorim says all the right stuff and the fans are sick to death of seeing this group of players down tools (note: yes i am aware rashford is the only player left since Jose, but when he came into the dressing room that taught him downing tools was an effective way to treat this club like a doss house and get paid ludicrous money).
Club do some polling and see fans want rashford gone, and see the fans perception of the senior club management is starting to wane, but are also seeing the fans haven't flinched on Amorim. The club now decide rashford's gotta go but it's hard to make a deal in January. Amorim is media savvy and also knows his standing with the fans is huge, so says the right stuff to the press to force the clubs hands to where we are now.

It's a loan isn't it? Maybe he'll rethink his choices and realize how good he had it here.
It is loan. Sorry, should have said "bye for now".
Yes, he had it good here, living la vida loca for years, doing nothing, except those 2,5 - 3 months of a purple patch between WC in Qatar and Carabao Cup final.
Now he will have to work his socks off or Emery will put him on the bench. He better play great so we can sell him for more than fish and chips.

Marcus Rashford. Attitude and timekeeping. Rolls-Royce Wraith. 2 hour commute both ways from Manchester to Birmingham every day for training.

What could go wrong?
Can't they move training closer to his home?

I don't think you are right about Eth part, the second season we changed from counter attacking football to something more progressive and Rashford couldn't do it.

Wish him well, not his fault he got that ludicrous salary. Not that weird he did grow tired of the constant change of plans in the club. He also seems to have some kind physiological issues, so a new atmosphere may work wonders.

Get his wages of the books and say 50-60 million in the summer and it is a win-win.

No hard feelings and some good memories!

Seriously! The guy would jog around the pitch as if he was taking a stroll in a park. He basically stopped giving a feck and was not even putting the effort in training.

The salary he got is what his team negotiated. It’s not like that the club gave him more than what he asked for. If he got the salary at par with the best players in the world, the least he could do is put in the effort.

Good riddance and glad we are getting rid of this circus.

There in the CL and Rashford isn't cup-tied so he's a plus in that regard, the other one is hes pissed on his chips at OT and Amorin.

Hate that we're at this point and to be honest I think Amorim has handled it all wrong.

What should he do, indulge him and find himself getting sacked in 18 months like all the others?

Ruben handled it spot on and the sooner rashford is out the door the better.

Wish him well and hope he goes on to tear it up in the champions league for Villa.

I still rate him as one of our best talents, but he is not right for our new manager, who is trying to decorate a room with grand piano in the way.

He likes to make an effort for a few months in the runup to a possible payday. I'm sure he will be good at Villa for the reminder of the season before reventing to his mediocre norm for 2 or 3 years

Yeah, agree. IMO that back injury and his entourage who got into his head robbed us of a very good to great player. He was so exciting to watch and real threat from that left side, trickery blessed with pace and nice finishing. He's been shadow of himself for some time at United, shame how everything panned out at the end.

Last chance saloon for him. If he keeps phoning it in with Villa, there will be no takers for him in the summer, and he'll wither away as he's collecting the last couple of years on the last big contract he'll get.

Best possible outcome for United is that he's a big hit and somehow convinces someone to purchase him in the summer. Otherwise we're stuck with him until the contract is up.

Luke Shaw is left as well. He has been at the club since LVG.

Amorim did well beacuse he played him even when he was in poor form. He only stopped playing him after that interview when he said he wants a new challenge. What would you have expected Amorim to do? Play someone who is not committed to the club?

Rashy messed up and should have just looked for a new club quietly

We can only hope he fecking tries for villa. Hopefully it will help us get a fee.

He truly became a waste of.space for us. A very expensive paper weight. Glad he is going.
