Marcus Rashford (out) | signs for Villa on loan

Amorim said it quite well. Nothing personal, and that's pretty much it.

Just please, spare everyone additional drama, team is 12th in the league, nobody has time for infantile bullcrap anymore.

Good riddance, deserves to be booed when he returns to Old Trafford aswell.

Rashford has more than played his part with the issues of toxicity, making our beloved club a circus.

His effort levels are the worst in the squad, or thereabouts. He’s definitely a big part of the problem.

If he wasn’t home grown I could see boos for such disrespect.

Practically everyone who played for Rangnick deserves to be fired, they gave preseason effort and sabotaged the team.

Their training ground is north of Birmingham just off the M6 Toll and as others have noted if he’s earning £18m a year he can afford to buy or rent some party pad to crash with his entourage

Even if he has a successful loan, it won't be enough for him to stay. It's in his best interests to have a new start away from the club.

So what's that? The best part of £18.2m saved plus a loan fee which we can amortize be nice to know the specifics as they come out

It’s a 6 month loan, so we’re saving around £7.5m if they cover all of his wages but yes I agree with the sentiment, this is as good as we could have hoped for.

It’ll be nice not having the constant drama around him infesting the club. Just please can we not have the ‘Amorim should’ve played him’ posts when he inevitably scores/assists/breaks into a jog.

His entourage won’t be happy with the travel.

Bit of a drop from Milan and Barca to Villa but it might be what he needs. I know Villa are historically a reasonably big club (European champions in 82) but still, the “new challenge” is probably not what he imagined when he said those words.

I hope he does well and we get a decent fee for him in the summer.

Looks like the right club for a loan. A great manager and new surroundings might be what he needs to turn it around. Regardless of how well he does, he should never, ever pull on a United shirt again to play a competitive game of football. The disrespect he’s shown us and the club should never be forgotten.
Let’s hope he rips it up in Birmingham and there are many buyers in the summer.

I still remember that Newcastle game where I was shouting at the screen for him to run. Nobody is bigger than the club. Good riddance.

The beauty of being the worst United team in Premier League history is the owners are finally willing to bin off the under performing players.

Clean Slate FC didn't last very long after Ruben had unpacked his bags.

Really disappointing that Rashford couldn't get his act together. He has lost some pace but would still have been a valuable player for us in our attack which is the worst since the 70ties.

It is 4 months loan. And he is on around 230-240k. So we are saving 4 mil IF they cover whole wage.

Last game of the season is Villa at OT.

I’m sure he’ll get a lovely send off after all his hard work over the years. If he’s still making the squad by then.

There’s a decent chance he ends up looking good at Villa. They are a better side than us, and he has a point to prove - maybe more than ever. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit, if he does well for them.

Wonder if our team leaks will dry up now.

Wish him well, definitely hasn’t been happy here for a while, for whatever reason. Best for everyone for him to move on. Didn’t see a move to another PL team on the cards but hopefully he does well for them in the CL & PSG come in for him in the summer.

If it’s true that he doesn’t want to move down to Birmingham and instead will commute from Manchester it’s surely a major red flag to where his priorities lie right now.

Just get your head out of your arse and make the most of your short career ffs

Great for us. We can sell him for some money. He can become 20 goal striker but his attitude is the issue and if we ever want to be serious team, we need to move on such players

What? He will rather travel 4-5 hours every day? No way that is true

The feeding the kids was the best for him, but also the worst. It seems people around him tried to turn him into something he isn't. He seems quite a shy lad and they tried to turn him into some sort of politician. Without thinking if he would rather really just play football and that it was a one off for the circumstances at the time.

I hope Rashford is okay. From Rooney’s remarks (and even Pogba, from the earlier poster), it’s clear that there is more of a story that will eventually come out. Why was Rooney advising him to leave United two years ago? What was unhealthy about the combination of United and MR that was going on for years? Rooney also mentioned his own request to leave the club under SAF, a lack of ambition/signings under the Glazers being his stated reason. And Rooney himself struggled with fitness and various corrosive distractions, including booze and gambling. Felt like Wayne was edging close to opening up some painful story.
It has been clear for a while something isn't right with Rashford. Even in the season he was scoring under ETH, he just didn't look happy on the field.

But I do agree with what Carragher has been saying in the last few weeks, Rashford isn't just that great a player to have all this discourse around him. He's a good player but nothing more. Clearly he's struggling with something off the field and I hope he finds a solution for that and wish him the best in the rest of his footballing career.

A shame he couldn't live up to the hype, but such is football. He's not the first and won't be the last.

I think you are overlooking the fact that only a handful of the Saudi clubs have the money for big deals and they also have a limit on the number of foreign players they can sign. There was one window where they went for high priced veterans just to grab some headlines but since then they have focused on sensible signings to grow their league.
The clubs don’t buy the players. I think it’s the Pro League which buys the players and then the players are allocated to the various clubs.

Said I was first shocked a couple weeks ago it had come to this and I'm even more shocked it's happening the way it is to a domestic club and to Villa!

Wow. I hope the buy option is at least £35m+ or something.

Assuming he lives in Cheshire like every other footballer in the northwest, it’s 1hr 20mins to training so under 3hrs round trip and I guess he could use a hotel to reduce that travel over the week.

He will until the all the headlines mocking United letting go a star die away, and then he will revert to his lazy jogging, shooting at sight, picking the wrong pass, trying to dribble past five defenders. Poor Villa.

Yes but the point still stands that there are a fairly limited number of clubs in that pool and they have a foreign player quota. They are not likely to waste one of those slots on 32 year old who can’t run and who due to PSR could not be sold for less than 30M. We need to accept that Saudi clubs are not able to buy our players and it is not due to some conspiracy but just because they do not represent any kind of value to them.
