Marcus Rashford (out) | signs for Villa on loan

Loan to villa then onto the phone to Barca for a sale in the summer before they see him stinking out the place at villa

Villa would be a good move for all parties.

Doubt Rashy’s ego will allow him to make the move though. Him & his entourage definitely thought they’d have all of Europe’s elite chasing him.

Bit of a humbling experience for them I’d imagine. Bet they didn’t expect the only move left on the table would be a loan to 8th placed Aston Villa on deadline day.

I can't see him going to Turkey. He will think it's beneath him. Then again, maybe he would relish the thought of reuniting with his mate, Ole.

I’m sure he would think that but I’d have thought the same about Osimhen but once it’s the only option it might be different.

Sounds like Villa might be an option, find it hard to believe the reports if he can’t go to Barcelona his preference is to stay. Surely he is desperate to go by now.

I don't get it, would he rather go be lazy to Villa rather than pull his finger out and fight for his Barca dream for the rest of the season here?
Is him giving it all again not an option? Surely saving 2 mil on loan is not that much better than him showing he's not a waste of space.

He isn't getting in the squad again its apparent.

It's the same as when Arsenal fecked off Aubameyang, INEOS are wanting a cultural refresh and our golden boy in Rashford that came out of our academy cant be arsed in training as a senior player.

He's being told to get out of the club by the end of the window.

You do know you're talking about Rashford? He's on big money, why run bro

Just hope he accepts Villa, don't want this guy stinking the place up for the remaining part of the season.

Big clubs came for him but none of them want him enough to pay his wages. I think it is at least humbling in the sense that the market is sending a clear message that he is overpaid. We knew that, INEOS and Amorim know that, but it’s just further evidence that his salary is insane.

Villa is good. They’re above us in the table and are playing in the knockouts of the champions league! There are ways to sell it or spin it as a win. I can already see our fanbase on twitter losing their minds when he says he’s excited to help Villa in the Champions League

I guess I've never seen a top player outright refuse to do his job. Me working hard? Out of question, get me somewhere esle now!

He won’t end up leaving. It’s a real eye opener that a player who’s been one of our best over recent seasons can’t even get a loan move with his wages partly paid.

When somebody asked yesterday if Villa might now come in I thought nah, no chance.

Might rest on how persuasive Emery is if he’s driving it but at least it’s another potential avenue out.

Could be a good move for all, in theory. As a short term replacement for Duran (I’m assuming he isn’t replacing Watkins),if Emery can get him to give half a shit he’s still a decent option.

Hopefully a reality check for him that he’s had months to sort something and the *only* option he’s going to end up with is going on loan to Aston Villa.

I don't see him leaving, not for Villa anyway. Unless a new club comes in for him in the last couple of days of the window I expect we'll remain in this purgatory until the summer.

That’s almost entirely due to his wages though. If he was on between 100-150k he’d probably have been loaned out weeks ago.

This could be the perfect time for us to ask for money for a permanent move. Whoever our negotiator is, now is the time to earn some money. They definitely need a striker and theoretically, Rashford makes sense because of how they play. If we send him on loan, they will see through him, send him back and we'll forever be stuck.

Well this depends entirley upon how honest he is being. He has made a big deal out of wanting a new challenge and wanting to play his way back into the England squad for the next world cup. Helping Villa to a strong finish and playing for them in the knockout stages of the Champions League gives him the chance to accomplish these goals. Training on his own on matchdays for the next 4 months does nothing for him at all and makes a summer move to an even halfway decent club very unlikely.

He is surrounded by morons who give him horrible advice and in effect ruining his career

Anybody knew for sure that Barca wouldn't be able to sign him. And yet he and his entourage were following the delusion of Barca expectation

Rashford needs to go somewhere to start playing again. This is not the final move, but he is treating it as one and wants to prove that he goes to somewhere "even better", instead of joining a team like Roma and playing until Summer. In reality now he is stuck back at United where he is not wanted and probably won't be able to play or restart his career

There will be even less suitors for him in the Summer and he can bid farewell to his England career

Criminally dumb

Do we expect Villa to offer a significant enough package to take him on loan and pay most, if not all of his wages? I'm not convinced. Based on the stories of Rashford having his heart set on Barcelona, I really think he was after a club with a lot more prestige too. It's possible United have some reluctance loaning him out to another Premier League club as well. Nothing about this feels perfect

If his total cost over the rest of the season is 4m unless someone is going to pay more than 50% then just keep him. 2m is worth it to avoid setting further precedent

It does not seem perfect but lets be honest, him staying here is a losing proposition for the player and the club. He benefits from almost any move that gets him regular football for the rest of the season and with our financial woes any percentage of his salary being covered is good for us. A loan with no fee and 50% wage coverage still saves us 2M and considering we have an actual cash shortage I would take that all day long, I would take 25% wage coverage to be honest just to put this to bed for a while.

I'm certain when Rashford announced he wanted to leave a few weeks ago he didn't think he'd end up with the only option being Aston Villa.

Probably a much needed blow to his ego.

Villa are a good side and they're in the CL but they're not the sort of top level club he thought would be after him. Hopefully it happens though and we can stop the constant drama for 6 months at least.

Saudi money for Duran, enabling Villa to make a move.

I'm sure it would be a loan offer, but I can already forsee Rashford turning this down in favour of lounging around Carrington.

What is this ego? I'm not aware of anything he's done being particularly egotistical.

He's been in and out of the United team, hasn't played for England for a couple of years, and has already gone through a summer where we openly said we'd listen to offers for him and yet nothing came in. I'm pretty sure he knows what his stock is.

And he likely knows full well the issues his wage has caused for potential suitors.

He won't start at Villa, they have a lot of attacking options.
I don't think they do actually. He's competing with Malen, Bailey and Ramsey for a wide spot. I don't think any of them are nailed on to start. You could argue Rogers is a wide option too if they go more defensive but if he applies himself, he should be starting regularly there.
