How does how a person dresses reflect their attitude? You see the most ridiculous things being worn by athletes regularly. It's a nonsense argument and potentially racially tinged.

Do you really think that if Rashford was white nobody would be criticizing him for dressing like a flashy wanker? What utter nonsense.

Fowler also a person with a stupid celebration that's famous.. just like Rashfords.

While there are some (several, actually) legit points of comparison between post-SAF United and Liverpool's "spice boys" - that doesn't mean the poster you quoted spouted "utter nonsense".

When the "flashy" attire (and bling and whatnot) of non-white people is highlighted, that potentially carries a certain meaning (one that pointing out that Fowler looks like an utter wanker in that suit does not carry). Come on - you know precisely what we're talking about, surely.

Don’t think it’s anything to do with race. People just don’t like it in your face bling, flashy stuff. I’m sure Beckham got pelters for his braids and leather vests or what have you. Personally, I don’t really give a shit what you wear but I people like to get upset.

Everyone criticised Beckham and his sarong. Yet people respected his performances and his workrate

Exactly this... if Rashford wasn't so lazy, most wouldn't care how he dressed or acted outside the pitch.

Edit: personally I don't care either way.

Well that’s what I mean. It’s a lazy observation to make but I don’t think there’s anything racial in it. That’s not to say that there is no racial undertones in some of the criticism Rashford and young black successful players get thrown at them.

It's no different than people making fun of central europeans for wearing sandals with socks. Or noughties boys wearing pants with pockets deeper than the mariana trench. If something is tacky, it will be called out.

The basic criticism, the idea that Rashford is unprofessional, wanting him gone because he might be a bad influence...and so forth?

No - obviously not.

Highlighting how he dresses in public?

Potentially problematic.

Both could be true, you know.

My issue with him going to Barca on a loan would be the likelihood he ends up being predictably underwhelming, coupled to the abundance of talent they already have there in attacking positions as well as how hostile their fans can be. It just means he comes back in the summer, cementing his reputation as stealing a living at the wages he's on making it less likely we'll offload him for good.

Don't get me wrong, I'd drive him to Barcelona myself (especially if the rumours of them willing to cover all his wages are true), but I'd much rather he joins a smaller club, ideally in a lesser league where he'd be able to stat pad and look impressive, making it easier for us to sell him permanently in the summer.

The problem is Rashford ego. He still believes he is good enough to play for a Barca, which is why I doubt he will lower his expectations.

Also, there is no smaller club that would want a Rashford problem in the team.

He has been cuddled at Manutd as a crown jewel all his life and he is not been thrown in the wilderness and cannot cope. This reality has hit him that he is a nobody in footballing terms.

He doesnt want to take a pay cut and wouldn't go to Saudi... then he also says he loves the club, if you love the club then get out.

Barcelona links make no sense whatsoever and are most likely false. For one, they can't afford a packet of crisps, so they most definitely can't afford any part of Rashford's wages. United would be getting nothing. Even in a hypothetical scenario where he goes to Spain, he most certainly isn't displacing Raphinha, Yamal, or Lewandowski. Hansi Flick won't tolerate his attitude any more than Amorim has, but Barcelona fans will be nowhere near as forgiving as United fans.

No one will pay even a third of what he is getting here, and fewer still would do that while accepting his attitude. You'd maybe think that he'd take a look at Garnacho, 7 years his junior, who had also fallen afoul of Amorim, and is even involved in a possible transfer away, yet has listened to his coach and is putting in the work. I'm guessing Marcus Rashford MBE is just too important for that, though.

The Turkish transfer window shuts a week later, the Barca deal isn’t going to happen so I can see him ending up at one of the Turkish teams once reality has set in.

Galatasaray are signing Morata I read so not sure if that will rule them out. Did cross my mind if they went for him he could be facing us in the Europa.

I can't see him going to Turkey. He will think it's beneath him. Then again, maybe he would relish the thought of reuniting with his mate, Ole.

I reckon Villa is a goer for a loan. They are ambitious, still in CL. Have cash to burn with Duran sale and need a forward.

Rashford fits the bill.

Maybe that will get us Tel.

Hard to keep up with this thread. From the last couple of pages, the tl,dr; seems to be that Barcelona are potentially serious, and criticizing Rashford for what he wears might be or might not be racist.

Did I miss anything else?

Let's stop bringing race into it.

Most United fans would have no reason not to like Rashford. Academy players through and through, fairy tale debut, spearheading our resurgence (was) as a 20 years old, breaking goal scoring record (going to), feed the kids, number 10 in the making.

We would want and loved him to be successful, for feck sake if he made it it's a pride to our history.

We've had countless Black players, and i think a good percentages of EPL players are black. Race is not the issue, although some bad apples would probably made that remarks.

Instead ask yourself, why most of us wants him gone so badly? Well for me it's simply because he took the piss with jogging around and not giving his all for years, while being privileged to be paid top money, playing for the club i support, and even then some act of professionalism is all I ask.

So please, he actually got more leeway more than any other player. Let's not made him as a victim in all this. All he needs to do is give his all, hell at least be professional about your profession and earn your salary

If this is the player you want to support, then dont complain when the team dont give a feck and languishes in midtables, because you (his defenders) have been tolerating and defending his laziness with a list of excuse from back pain, the coach pick him, he wasnt told to press and presumably told to jog around letting everyone pass him, mental ilness, depression, etc while it's clear he doesnt give a flying feck about his job.

If he move to a new club and suddenly works hard again and find his Mojoes, the more he needs to feck off. Because it'll be clear he can and still have it, he just can't be bothered to do it for his supposedly childhood club. Either way I wont be missing him

Sorry @REDARMY45 the rant wasnt aimed at you. Just adding to your post

It's specifically what he's wearing that is the point. But not important overall so will leave it.
