Marcus Rashford (Out) | Rashford: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

I said at the time if I was Rashford after that season 18 months ago with one year left on my contract - no chance in hell I’d have stayed - I’d have been off abroad. I felt a parting was best for both then and it still is. What I will say is this club has spent 250m on attacking players in recent years - none of which are actually better than him and some significantly worse. When he does leave that needs to fecking change. Our attack is abysmal relative to who this club is, it has been abysmal for some time and the only period it hasn’t been in the last 4 years is when he put in a top season.

You have summed up my thoughts perfectly.
The personal hate will continue, those toxic people will direct it somewhere else.

If any one player plays as shite, and has as bad an attitude, but gets played regardless of that for over two years, yes that will happen. Hopefully we're past that now as a club though.

This is sad. I’m sad.

Rashford is red. From Wythenshaw, he loves to fight. He's born to play in red and white. So listen close, it must be said. Like Manchester, Rashford is red.

Seems like his time is up.

Doubt he even said it. It was an interview which supposedly happened at his old school yet no other journalist covers it, when Rashford has been in the news all week?

It was a PR stunt by his marketing people engineered with one of the most Rashford friendly journalists out there. Nothing in this is sincere. The whole article is a massive puff piece with every word agreed up front with Marcus' people. It has massive echoes of Lingard and Pogba and their entitlement.

No-one is bigger than the club and Roy Keane was right. Amorin holds Marcus to account but ultimately back in the day the whole team would be holding him to account.

Marcus had an easy way to fix this. Train hard, put the effort in just like everyone else. However he believes his own hype.
I believe so too, but I don’t really mind that. If he needs to be able to call Saudi Arabia his ‘next step and a new challenge’, I welcome him to that, it is a hell of a better way to save face than do a Ronaldo fan suicide with Pierce Morgan, or send a pouty ‘my teacher lies when he says I’m not best in class’ message in a bottle.

I’m pretty sure that anyway you slice it, Tashford is deeply disappointed about how his carreer has developped, and who’s responsibility that is notwithstanding, that takes some dealing with. I’m happy the less he makes that happen in public. That is also some kind of responsibility.

I can't imagine he said this if there hadn't already been a conversation with Amorim and club officials about his future which included him expressing a desire to leave and the club agreeing it's for the best. At this point I wouldn't blame him, and I don't blame the club for wanting to try and move him on either.

It's fair to criticise his performances, sure, but some people seem to take it to another level and are critical of him personally. And I don't doubt he does gets full on abuse from segments of the fanbase. Considering some of the criticisms are he is dumb as a box of rocks and some are that he seems to be some Machiavellian PR manipulator a lot of it reads like people are acting on a lack of information, and drawing their own conclusions.

Nothing about what he said reads as vindictive or harmful. He's talking about his future, and what's best for him.

His performances on the field haven't been good enough, but I'll still be sad when he goes.
He has literally just insinuated his PR usually speak for him

I don't think Rashford will leave in the next window. I think one of 3 scenarios would happen:

1. He buckle down and start fresh. Everyone will see Rashford pressing and effort on the field.
2. Follow Pogba, Martial and Lingard. Not of the squad, running down his contract and leave on free.
3. Accept a wage cut and move to another league.

I hope it is 1 but it is likely 2.

Why would it ever be #1 when he has declared his decision to leave? If he couldn't find it in him to make an effort before, it's out of the question now.

Still easily our fastest player. The problems are decision making, not improving weaker areas of his game particularly using his running power to press and chase loose balls and his best position in the past, left wing not being used in our new formation.

For me he should be rotated in as our #9 to give Hojlund breaks and depending on who is scoring. I do see a potential future where he's starting up front for us and scoring lots of goals. But he can work on the pressing, hold up play and off the ball running until he looks like scoring every game and starting because of it.

Certainly reads like it.

He was dropped for the derby, then we get this article about him wanting a new challenge a couple of days later. It all seems a little bit too convenient and almost like him & his PR team/agent are trying to get some news out there, to see if there's any interest.

I'm not going to slander anyone posting on this thread by noting how similar it is in here right now to what's going on at the cesspool that is the reddveils subreddit.

I'm just going to say that I love Rashy and I always will regardless of what comes in the. next few months. Rashy's a proper Red and he loves this club more, and understands it on a deeper level, than every single cretin having a go at his character/intelligence/what ever else. Until the day he signs for another club I will hope that he finds his form once more and starts banging in goals for his boyhood club. Regardless, his is a success story of the highest order.

Do you really think Rashford has a bad attitude? I'm not inclined to think so, but something is affecting his football.

He leaving.

Yeah I don't get some in here. The lad has just come out with a deliberate peice of PR days after a huge derby win ruining the buzz and basically just thrown his toys out the pram.

There's no 'I'm on board with the managers plans' type message anywhere to be seen.

Now Amorim and the squad have to deal with that diva days before a quarter final. There was just no need for what he's done.

Goldbridge is on a victory parade tonight, his agenda has finally reached it's climax. He no longer has to be sly about it.
I'm sure he'll milk this now until Rashford is sold.

Neither you or @Rojofiam evidently watch the United Stand. Goldbridge has been a massive fan of Rashford and regularly defended up. His position for a long time was always that he wanted Rashford to rediscover his form.

@FrankWhite even your assessment of Goldbridge's video today is bizarre. He specifically stated several times that he does not see any problem with Rashford's comments and basically said something along the lines that it is fair game and probably works out best for both parties.

I can see him fitting in at Napoli or Barcelona... But whether a deal can be done is another matter.

Nothing new really. Top sportsmen and celebrities get this treatment. Can’t change that.
You can though. I'm not gonna be so cynical that you can't convince some people not to be arseholes. I just don't know where to start. With myself, I guess...

I think it is a bit early to call it a "decision to leave".

"Ready for a new challenge" is very ambiguous thing. It maybe some phrase his advisors said he needs to use in media. Henry Winters was more than happy to oblige.

I should be saying things like "great servant", yadda yadda yadda, but I can't. I don't feel anything about him as a person, but as a player he's just frustrating and if it were just that I could understand, but part of the frustration is born of his lack of desire to do the work off the ball. I can't in good conscience celebrate a player who lacks something so simple as effort. His lack of technical ability in small spaces, or his decision-making, these things can be forgiven if only effort is present, but it never is. Add to that the sheer length of his time here and the amount he's been compensated for it; it just feels like we've delayed something that should have been done even before he had that one great scoring season.

If you're just giving shout outs to people that are too intelligent to be taken in by a dickhead who makes his living conning idiots into thinking he's a Manchester United supporter with an inside track while spouting constant toxicity because it gets the most clicks then let me join you; well done @Rojofiam and @FrankWhite, top lads both of you.

I see only one place he’ll go to: Saudi pro league

Well, his plan is to get back to the England team. If he goes to Saudi, bye bye England.

This puts him in a great position to ask for a lot of money if Saudi knocks on his door.

The irony of you saying Goldbridge is toxic and calling people who you think are conned "idiots". I think that says a lot more about you than anything else. And if rojo and frank were intelligent people, regardless of what they thought of Goldbridge, I would bet they would not be calling people they thought had been conned "idiots".

Rashford has his own on -pitch shortcomings and personal issues, but I feel the club shares blame for the way his career has turned out. He was never properly developed, and the chopping and changing of managers and philosophies hasn't helped at all.

Sterling left Liverpool when it seemed he was going down the same road, and it did wonders for his career. Rashford is a shattered man and I hope he gets the help he needs to find some peace and happiness again in his personal life and in football.

This sorta shows a minor point. There's more to a player and person than simply a perceived "bad attitude". Told from a young age you should run less, and then you will score/win more... Maybe that sort of thing sticks with you. In any case, all I'm saying is, please, if possible, don't attack Rashford as a person. He's not a robot performing for your gratification. He's just a human football player playing for United. Sometimes it works out, sometime it doesn't.

His contract is till 2027 or 2028. How would he leave for free? Only option is 3.

Wondering if he’s just physically broken down at this point.

Maybe yeah. I think a lot of fans will be wondering how much the back injury did effect him, but we'll probably not find out for a while. Van Persie said he had a back injury and he seemed to hint that he had to manage it carefully:

And then I had a similar injury, a stress fracture in my lower back. I was out with that for four months. 'You can't really do much, you have to just rest and let it heal. But it is a difficult one because it always stays a little bit like a weak spot. Even now, it is not that I'm in pain or something, but it's a sensitive area. So you have to be really careful with that.

You need to learn to read between the lines. Actually, with Goldbridge, you don't even have to look that deeply. He is being magnanimous while inwardly gloating. His issues with Rashford dates much further back.

If you look back at my posts, you'll see that I clearly believe it was time for Rashford to go.
Sad, but it didn't work out. He's a poor fit for Amorim and Ineos, both culturally and tactically. I'm more curious to see who they replace him with. Hopefully, it's a left sided number 10 that's ready to step in day 1 and be a starter.

a) I don't have a platform full of gullible idiots where I pretend to be something I'm not
b) I don't make a living creating toxicity towards the club I actually do follow all over the world

You enjoy the show tonight though pal, just make sure you get your tongue back at the end of it.

Have I missed some outgoing transfers ban then?

I hope you havent missed any bans.

If we want him to stay he will stay. My post suggested how to use him with him staying. Feel free to link to the official website and confirm your post that he's leaving

"I don't make a living creating toxicity" but you still make toxic comments which can be justified purely because you don't make money from it?

I hope he said it afer a careful consideration. Because its easy to get caught up in emotion and say something that you regret later on. He's shut the door basically.

Lets hope United won't sell him to Premier League clubs, swap with Osimhen maybe?

I don't know which is worse at this point. The fact that you see a supposed "toxic comment" towards people that support a channel promoting toxicity towards the club I follow as the same as the channel that promotes the toxicity itself or the fact that you appear to think the potential influence of my post on a thread that has received 66k views in over a week is the same as a social media account that has 2m subscribers on YouTube alone. Either way, this is tedious and I think it's abundantly clear we are very far apart on this issue which I am absolutely fine with and I'm sure you are too.

Saying he should be a rotation player earning over 300k a week gives more reason for him to be sold. He simply isn't worth his salary now.

absolutely made for psg. himself pogba and lingard would have been peak PSG.

Can you imagine the reaction of the fans and press there though if he didn't perform? He'll realise he got off pretty lightly here.

My thoughts with the new Henry article are:

1. I am disappointed because being a fan of Rashford, there was a tiny bit hoping that somehow he can turn it around with the new manager. Clearly that's not happening.

2. I never appreciate players making public statements in middle of seasons outside the club authority, and his statement for "ready for a new challenge" could become a big distraction. I am glad though that unlike Sancho, he hasn't sought a public fight with the manager. But he could have easily got this leaked rather than direct quotes from Rashford.

3. Maybe I am wrong but somehow it feels that his heart continue to be outside football, namely food of children. If so, this is great but unfortunately top football requires full dedication.

4. We are screwed either ways - and the manager and club have their work cut out to fill the Rashford shaped hole in our team. This has been present since last two years and at the moment, we have a bunch of promising young players and an aging Bruno. We need a top player at his peak to balance the team and shoulder the burden of attack.
