Marcus Rashford (Out) | Rashford: “For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”

Someone linked to this on Reddit. Unreal pace back then. He’s not been that fast for a while.

It could be the back injury that caused the pace loss.

But equally it just sometimes happens when young kids are crazy fast. By their mid 20's it's tailed off a bit. I don’t think Giggs at 26 was as fast as he was at 19.

But ultimately he's still plenty quick enough to cause defenders problems. IF he's fully fit and willing.

He's on less than £250k a week and we'll sell him no problem. Someone wants him obviously, otherwise he wouldn't be talking like this and we wouldn't be leaking that he's up for sale
Yeah, I think this is obvious. If he's as serious about a change as he says he is then he'll take a wage cut, he's earned more than most can spend in 10 lifetimes anyway.

The way he talks, trying to sound all saintly and hard done-to. If you can't be bothered to work hard Marcus then don't let the door hit you on the way out. Can't wait to see the back of him.

absolutely made for psg. himself pogba and lingard would have been peak PSG.

If he's serious about making the next World Cup, he'll consider a wage cut for consistent football in a new environment

Plenty of footballers also just peak earlier and hit a physical decline where they lose their pace and agility. Look at Rooney, Sir Alex was looking to sell him by the time he hit 27/28... It's definitely part of it for Rashford, but yeah as you say he has enough pace in there to be a lot better than he is now. But it's definitely harder for him to make it click since he's lost quite a bit of pace.

I think it was the back injury, to me that's the stand out moment where it seems to switch for him.

I don't think I've read an article or piece that's more self indulgent than that in my whole life. What tripe. I thought it was satire when I started reading it.

It's clear as day that Amorim, the new coaching staff and INEOS have completely seen through his bullshit.

If he's not prepared to apply himself and give everything by fighting and working for his place in this team, especially after everything that this club has given him?

It's a complete show of disrespect from Marcus. Local lad or not, he shouldn't have the privilege of pulling on the shirt or walking out at Old Trafford again.

Adiós.
Someone told me above that I don't have reading ability when I called this a PR drive.

Here's a thing I've noticed though, we're all rightly happy about the potential return of a merit based team hierarchy........... but mention the possibility of Rashford and Garnacho rising to the challenge and turning it around and its a problem for some? ......huh?

This seems like a bit of a funny take, considering Rashfords interview about rising to the challenge somewhere else.

You've done everything you could to avoid taking on a challenge for the majority of your career. You've had more seasons where you were utterly terrible than seasons where you were good, so this talk of being "ready for new challenges" rings really hollow when you've been a huge disappointment for the considerable majority of your career.

I don't think he has anything lined up.

Think this is a case of the club wanting rid. His agent has probably asked the club if there's any truth to the stories and the club have told him yeah, that he is surplus. Coupled with dropping out of the team, this is him telling the world he's available
Team Rashford don't read the room too well and them putting the cart before the horse wouldn't be a surprise. I also find everything about him recently to be quite obnoxious. To me he seems to have this notion that he has outgrown a mid top 10 club and is hostage to us. He says he's 100% United and red all over but he's demonstrated that like Pogba and Lingard this club is just 9-5.
Those two slackers also thought the Champions League elite would be in for them. Top 0.01% after all.

Bye bye lad. Great fecking moments from Marcus but PSG away to get past the 1st round of knockout shouldn't have been the pinnacle of his United career. A fecking waste of something that could have been world-class all because of attitude and application. Big shout out though to any player whose been with us for more than 2-3 seasons and excels under this manager. Nowhere to hide so fecking show up a change. Learn your lessons and eat your fecking opposition for dinner.
Nothing close to a legend medal for Marcus but I will always get in line for his autograph. If the wait is less than 15 minutes of course.

Best player in the league is a helluva call. Oh well,
it’s the right decision and hopefully beneficial to all parties, especially United.
I’m not exaggerating, he was genuinely running past people and scoring/assisting at will at times (Burnley, Forest and Barca) from December 2022-February 2023. He was even keeping up with Haaland goalscoring-wise in that period.

I don't think Rashford will leave in the next window. I think one of 3 scenarios would happen:

1. He buckle down and start fresh. Everyone will see Rashford pressing and effort on the field.
2. Follow Pogba, Martial and Lingard. Not of the squad, running down his contract and leave on free.
3. Accept a wage cut and move to another league.

I hope it is 1 but it is likely 2.

Age and profile wise he is a bit out of sync with the others. Amad, Mainoo, Yoro, Hojlund, Garnacho all have age on their side and can develop/grow with Amorim.

Wing back is not for Rashford if we are all honest.

Not sure where he will end up, but I hope the move isn’t a sad end in Saudi or somewhere just for the money.

I will never understand how some find it so easy to distil the essence of an entire human being based on so few facts.

Wonder if he's actually genuinely willing to move on or it's a "will move on if I get my cake and get to eat it too" willing. The type where he has a list of certain clubs he'd go to and wants us to pay the difference on the wages he'd lose signing for another club.

Yes, for like 2 games before he goes back into his shell.

That's a bit harsh.

It will also be interesting to see which perennial underperforming player you guys will choose next to back to hilt regardless of the number of chances they were given to improve. Clearly the betterment of Manchester United football club is not on your agenda. A classic example of player FC.
I agree that Rashford hasn’t been good enough I’m referring to the posters who instead of criticising Rashfords performances want to make cheap personal insults. They will just pick on the next person in line.

That's it.

So much fuss being made about a fairly mediocre Premier league winger shows how far we've fallen. You'd think it were Ronaldo to Madrid all over again.

If the new guys are any good at recruitment we'll replace him with ease and on a fraction of the wage.

Salah, KDB ...

Just saying
Respectfully, Salah and De Bruyne were both 22 years old when Chelsea chose to move them on, it's not comparable in the slightest.

Rashford is 27 year old and barring a 3 month run after the world cup has been utter dross for the last 4 seasons. We should be looking to sell to the club which are willing to pay the highest amount, regardless of what league they play in.

I can't imagine he said this if there hadn't already been a conversation with Amorim and club officials about his future which included him expressing a desire to leave and the club agreeing it's for the best. At this point I wouldn't blame him, and I don't blame the club for wanting to try and move him on either.

It's fair to criticise his performances, sure, but some people seem to take it to another level and are critical of him personally. And I don't doubt he does gets full on abuse from segments of the fanbase. Considering some of the criticisms are he is dumb as a box of rocks and some are that he seems to be some Machiavellian PR manipulator a lot of it reads like people are acting on a lack of information, and drawing their own conclusions.

Nothing about what he said reads as vindictive or harmful. He's talking about his future, and what's best for him.

His performances on the field haven't been good enough, but I'll still be sad when he goes.

Number 2 Is not gonna happen at this club for the foreseeable future. Players are not considered assets on a spreadsheet anymore. About fecking time.
Number 1 would be wonderful but let's be honest, a 180 would only last so long unless he becomes a football robot monk. He's in the pocket of every defender he comes up against and contributes very little. I don't see it in his character which seems to be an agreed on observation.
Number 3 should be his goal. Saudi, to be the poster boy for their WC like Neymar/Messi for PSG/Qatar. Lots of treasure and exposure in other Saudi backed sports with online exposure aggressively pushed globally. All while playing football that no one watches and no pressure.

This is not much different to what Sancho did. Basically coming out bitching and sulking after Amorim said a few home truths.

If he has any ambition, he will lower his wage demands massively and join a decent club in order to get back on track. No one is touching him at that wage bracket. Otherwise:

مرحباً بكم في المملكة العربية السعودية

You have summed up my thoughts perfectly.
The personal hate will continue, those toxic people will direct it somewhere else.

Nothing about what he said reads as vindictive or harmful. He's talking about his future, and what's best for him. Given how many people want him out it's odd to see that him saying his future should be away from the club is being taken so negatively when it's essentially confirmation of what so many fans want to happen anyway.
Doubt he even said it. It was an interview which supposedly happened at his old school yet no other journalist covers it, when Rashford has been in the news all week?

It was a PR stunt by his marketing people engineered with one of the most Rashford friendly journalists out there. Nothing in this is sincere. The whole article is a massive puff piece with every word agreed up front with Marcus' people. It has massive echoes of Lingard and Pogba and their entitlement.

No-one is bigger than the club and Roy Keane was right. Amorin holds Marcus to account but ultimately back in the day the whole team would be holding him to account.

Marcus had an easy way to fix this. Train hard, put the effort in just like everyone else. However he believes his own hype.

A complex situation made a lot less complex by him being willing to leave. Good news.
